  • Page 229 - The information in the sketch of William Feay, pertains to another William Feay, who served in Company "G" 15th W. Va. Infantry. This is the man in Carlin's Battery: WILLIAM G. FEAY – Age 29; Gardner; 6 feet tall; born Ohio County, Virginia. Enlisted Aug. 16, 1863 at Wheeling; mustered in Aug. 20, 1862. Appointed Corporal Aug. 20, 1862; promoted to Sergeant Mar. 1, 1863. Captured at Winchester, Va. June 15, 1863; paroled at City Point, Va. July 8, 1863. – At muster-out, June 27, 1865: “Absent, taken prisoner at Mason’s Cove & Creek, Va. June 21, 1864. Nothing known of him since.” - War Department: Aug. 30, 1876: “Was last seen at Florence, S.C. in Rebel Prison Feb. 13, 1865, suffering with Gangrene and is supposed to have died on or about that date.” His parents were Joseph and Barbara Feay, of Triadelphia, Ohio County, W.Va. Parents received government pensions. - SERVICE RECORD
