Hardesty's History of Calhoun County, West Virginia CAPT. S. WILLIAMS Capt. S. Williams was born in Rockbridge County, Virginia, August 11, 1827, and married in Kanawha County, Virginia, March 26, 1850. During the war of 1861 he served three years in Federal Army, as captain in the 13th West Virginia Infantry, and was wounded in action, July 24, 1864. In 1869 he cast his fortunes in with the people of Calhoun County, West Virginia, making his home in Sheridan district, and engaging in farming and the dealing in lumber. His wife was Minerva Lander, born in Kanawha County, February 25, 1831, and their children are two living and five deceased, born: H. L., September 7, 1752, deceased; Mollie E., March 1854; H. F., March 18, 1858; S. C., July 17, 1860, deceased; S., November 3, 1862, deceased. Capt. S. Williams receives his mail at Big Bend. (Linda Fluharty)
