Witte is a native of Germany, born July 27, 1850, who came to Calhoun County, West Virginia, in 1866, with Charles and Mary (Cuwatz) Witte, his parents. The father and mother of Theodore R., were born in Germany, the former in 1808, and the latter in 1814. They are both living in Calhoun County at present. In Calhoun County, West Virginia, October 24, 1875, Theodore R. Witte was united in marriage with Sarah E. Lynch, and their children are three: Learoy, born September 3, 1878; Jemima, August 28, 1880; Rufus, October 11, 1882. The wife of Mr. Witte was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of George and Jemima (Knotts) Lynch, who were residents here when the county was organized. The date of her birth was May 1, 1858. Theodore R. Witte is a carpenter by trade, and works at that business, which he supplements with farm labor, his land lying in Washington district.
