She was employed by West VirginiaUniversity Extension Office, Glenville. She was a Lockney Extension Homemaker and was active in various Farm Bureau and 4-H activities. She was a member of Rosedale Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Harold Allen; one son, JeffreyAllen of Summersville; two daughters, Annetta Richards of Rosedale and Michelle Allen of Glenville; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Clayon Minigh, Willard Minigh, Wilbur Minigh, Paul Minigh and, Sam, Minigh; and one sister, Edith Goehring. She was born in Normantown, a daughter of the late A.S. and Ruth Moss Reed. She was a homemaker and a member of Upper Steer Run Baptist Church, Normantown. Surviving are two daughters, Nedra Scott and Nelda Gill, both of Smithville; three sons, Hugh Alltop of Grantsville, Roy Alltop of Palestine and Robert Alltop of Troy; two brothers, Wilford Reed of Lagrange, Ohio, and Wilbert Reed of Grafton, Ohio; one sister, Nora Beall of Normantown; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan C. Alltop; one son, Haymond Carl Alltop; one brother; and one sister. Carl Edwin Anderson, 78, of Overgaard, Ariz., died Tuesday, May 14, 1996, at his residence. He was born in Leatherbark, a son of the late John L. and Mary E. Whytsell Anderson. He attended Calhoun County schools and was a timekeeper for the Calhoun County Courthouse. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II in the China, Burma and India theaters, and as a clerk for the Army Pipeline Co. He was a farmer and worked for Cleveland Graphite Bronze in Ohio and for Air Research for 15 years in Arizona. He was a member and volunteer builder of the American Legion, Overgaard. Surviving are his wife, Bessie J. McCoy Anderson; one daughter, Sue E. Chunn of Overgaard; one son, John E. Anderson of Show Low, Ariz.; one granddaughter; and one great-grand-daughter. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles F. Anderson and Williard Anderson; and two sisters, Edith Starcher and Hazel Anderson. She was a homemaker ind member of Calhoun General Hospital Auxiliary and First Baptist Church of Grantsville. Surviving are one son, Warren Arthur of Vienna; two daughters, Janette Kerby of Norton, Ohio, and Maxine Weaver of Tucson, Ariz.; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and five great-great- grandchildren. William "Bill" Arthur, 46, of Spencer, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 1996, at his residence. He was born in Spencer, a son of the late Charles Ralph and Jessie Ernestine Ward Arthur. He was pastor of Harvest Tabernacle Church of God, Spencer. He was a lifelong Roane County resident. He was a retired maintenance mechanic from Rubber Crafters, Smithville, and attended Leatherbark Community Church, near Arnoldsburg. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of Evelyn Sears Bailey of Parkersburg and the late Charles G. Bailey. He was a retired barber from A Man's Place, Parkersburg. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late James H. and Hattie M. McKee Bailey. He retired from Viscose, Parkersburg, after 39 years of service. He was an honorary Kentucky Colonel. He was a member of Stephenson Memorial United Church, Parkersburg, where he was the oldest male member. Surviving are his wife, Esta Cottrill Clevenger Bailey; one son, Walter Judd Bailey of Torrance, Calif.; two stepsons, Ward Clevenger and Hobart Clevenger, both of Parkersburg; one step-daughter, Patty Clevenger Depue of Parkersburg; 13 grandchildren; 28 great- grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was bom in Wood County, a son of Carroll Bain of Leroy and Mary Gayheart Bain Lynch of Magnolia. He was a carpenter for Rabeno Construction Co., Magnolia. Barker, 64, of Newark, Ohio, a retired U.S. Army master sergeant decorated in the Vietnam War, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 1996, at Licking Memorial Hospital, Newark. He was born in Grantsville, a son of the late Thomas D. Barker, Sr., and Opal Sturm Summers. He retired from the Army after 25 years of service. He served in the combat engineers in Germany from 1961-1966 and from 1975-1977. He served two tours of combat duty in Vietnam from 1967-1968 and from 1970-1971. He was the owner of Tom's Liquor Store and Fountain Motel, Fountain, Colo. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, three Overseas Service Bars, two Bronze Stars, Good Conduct and Marksman medals. He was a member of American Legion Post 0764, Hanover, Ohio, and a life-member of the VFW of Grantsville. He was a member of Parkersburg Moose Lodge 1118, Elks Lodge of Cripple Creek, Colo., Confederate Veterans of America, Huntington, Druids Club of Newark, Grants-ville IOOF, In Country Vietnam Veterans of Tempe, Ariz., Vietnam Veterans of America in which he was Ohio treasurer, and National Rifle Association. He was a former member of Fountain City Council. Surviving are his wife, Gail Warren Barker; two foster brothers, Richard Sturm of Ravenswood and John Sturm of Parkersburg; one foster sister, Marie Cheesbrew of Grantsville; one half sister, Joann Stull of Grantsville; two half brothers, Charles Summers of Waverly and Jack Summers of Elyria, Ohio. George Rexie Barnes, 79, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 1995, at Martinsburg City Hospital. He was born in Fairmont, a son of the late William and Adaline Cunningham Barnes. He was a graduate of Calhoun County High School, Glenville State College, and received his master's degree from West Virginia University. He was a veteran of World War II, and a retired social worker for Veterans Administration, Martinsburg. Surviving are his wife, Edda Bernice Roberts Barnes; two daughters, Linda Renee Arant of Kearneysville and E. Burial was in Nobe Cemetery, Nobe. 5/30/1996 BARR, RICHARD H. Richard H. "Dick" Barr, 60, of Elizabeth, died Thursday, May 23, 1996, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late French and Mildred Cowan Barr. He was a 1954 graduate of Wirt County High School and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired from E.I. DuPont in 1988 with more than 30 years of service and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of Selective Service Board, Wirt County Lions Club, and Elizabeth United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Janet Honaker Barr; one son, Greg Barr of Elizabeth; one daughter, Kelly Tanner of Eliza-beth; one sister, Wanda Edgell of Elyria, Ohio; one aunt, Dennie Dennison of Elyria; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three stepgreat- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She and her husband, Carl L. Blosser, lived at Cabot Station until 1965. She was an active member of the Methodist Church and various other organizations in Grantsville. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, James Dine and Betty Lou Blosser; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, all of Lancaster, Ohio. Edna Olive Boley, 84, of St. Marys, died Tuesday, Mar. 30, 1996, at Camden-Clark Hospital. She was born in Nine Mile, Pleasants County, a daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Lydia Locke Brammer. She was a former employee of American Cyanamid and Hi Way Grille for several years. She retired from Colin Anderson Center. She authored a book of her life titled, "Life in the Hills of West Virginia." She was a member of Pleasants County Republican Woman's Club, was a former 4-H leader and was a Methodist. Surviving are one son, Jack E. Boley, husband of Sen. Donna Boley of St. Marys; one daughter, Margaret Barley of Williams-burg, Va.; a nephew, Roy E. Brammer of St. Marys, whom she had raised since his birth; one sister, Sylvia Mayo of Belmont; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack W. Boley; one infant son; five brothers, Everett Brammer, William Brammer, Clyde Brammer, Roy Brammer and Earl Brammer; and two sisters, Dora Catherine Brammer and Millie Sunderman. Bower, 86, of Akron, Ohio, died Friday, June 7, 1996, at Akron General Hospital. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Charley and Geneva Wells Thomas. She had been a resident of Akron since 1942. She was a former employee of Sun Rubber Co. for 13 years and Akron General Hospital for 17 years, retiring in 1974. She was a member of Sun Rubber Retirees Association and Akron Baptist Temple. Surviving are one son, Thomas Bower of Akron; one sister, Geneva Pell of Akron; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and six great- great-grandchildren. Terrence (Terry) Lee Bower, 43, died suddenly at his home in Lexington, Ken., on Monday, Jan. 15, 1996. He was born in Parkersburg, the son of Dan E. and Grace Hathaway Bower. He attended schools in Vienna and Wheeling and graduated from Magnolia High School, New Martinsville. He attended Marshall University. He was a former manager of Hills Dept. Store, Vienna, and opened other Hills stores in West Virginia, New York, Pennsyl-vania and Kentucky. He was employed by Mothers Records and Tapes, Louisville, Ken., and opened new stores in Louisville, Atlanta and several areas in Florida. At the time of his death, he was vice-president of marketing for Direct Programming Services, Lexington. Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Sara Collingsworth Bower, and a brother, Jonathan D. Bower of East Lansing, Mich. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Karen Nutter Bower; his grandparents, C.O. and Opal Bower, formerly of Big Bend, and O.C. and Grace Miller Hathaway of Grantsville. He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Emory Ray and Blanche Ferrell Busch. He was a 1935 graduate of Calhoun County High School. He and his wife owned and operated Busch Grocery and Service Station at Big Bend for several years. In 1945, he purchased a bulldozer and began a career in the excavation and construction business, which became known as Max Busch, Inc., of Parkersburg. He built farm ponds and worked on construction of dams throughout West Virginia. In 1968 he expanded his operations to include the first 24-hour crane rental with the only Grove hydraulic cranes in the area. Upon his retirement in 1978, the business was sold to his sons. He was a member of Mount Olivet Lodge NO. 3, AF&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies of the Valley of Parkersburg, Jerusalem Chapter No. 3, Royal Arch Masons, Calvary Commandery No. 3, Knights Templar. He was a former director, of Mid Atlantic Shrine Association and a Member of Nemesis Temple of the Shrine where he served on the directors staff for years. He was a longtime member of Operations Engineers Union Local 132 and a 50-year member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 2308. He was a life member of W.Va. Soil Conservation Service and American Association of Retired Persons. He was a member of Wild and Wonderful West Virginia Good Sams Travel Club, Land-o-Lake of Ohio Airstream Club, and W.Va. Unit of Airstream Club. In 1988, he was recognized for his philanthropic work as a member of Grand Masters Club of the Knights Templar Eye Foundation and was also honored as a member of One hundred Million Dollar Club of the Shrine for philanthropic work. He attended Fairlawn Baptist Church, Parkersburg, where he served as a deacon, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Okeechobee, Fla., and a former member of Seventh Street United Methodist Church, Parkersburg. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Theresa Lynch Busch; two sons, Glenn K. Busch of Lubeck and Donald M. She lived in Windham for 33 years and moved to Ravenna in August 1994. She was an avid supporter of the arts, including youth symphony and Hickory Civic Ballet Co. She was active in Hickory Junior Woman's Club and First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was in charge of education material for elementary grades. He was born in Grantsville, son of the late Morgan Tamblyn "Hick" Hamrick and Edith Smith Hamrick. His father was principal and coach at Calhoun County High School at the time. Dept. of Highways for many years. He was a member of 150th Armored Calvary Regiment of W.Va. National Guard, serving active duty during the 1961-62 Berlin/Cuba Crisis. He had been in a coma since 1987 when he suffered a heart attack after playing in an amateur hockey game in Charleston. He resided in Oak Grove Nursing Home for six years. He was the son of Edward P. and Carole Jacobs of Toledo, Ohio. He attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help School and was a member of the first graduating class of St. John's Jesuit High School in 1969. He moved to West Virginia in 1977. He was a journeyman printer, having worked for The Blade in Toledo, a print shop in Parkersburg, and in 1981 founded Red Clay Press in Grantsville. She was born in Grantsville, a daughter of Russell W. and Gladys F. Fredrick Duskey of Grantsville. She had attended Calhoun County High School. She was a homemaker and member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Grantsville. Surviving in addition to her parents are a daughter, Jessica Lynn Knight of Grantsville; one sister, Kay Marks of Grantsville; . one brother, Joseph R. Duskey of Tanner, a niece, Stacy Church two nephews, Frank Hickman and Joey Duskey; two great-nieces: Kayla and Samantha Church; a brother-in-law, Larry Marks; a sister-in-law, Madeline Duskey; and aunts and uncles, George and Ellen Hardman and Earl and Odell Wilson. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John Mabel Duskey and French and Cora Fredrick; an uncle, Clyde Duskey, and an aunt, Golda Knight. Knotts, Jr., 87, of Steer Creek Community, Stumptown, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 1996, at his home following a long illness. He was born in Euclid, a son of the late Robert J. and Lillie M. Mace Knotts. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a graduate of Calhoun County High School, Class of 1930. He was retired from White Motor Co., Cleveland, Ohio, and was a member of United Auto Workers of Cleveland. He was also a former school teacher in Calhoun County, owned and operated a car agency in Grantsville, and was a former self-employed mechanic in Grantsville. He was a member of Rush Run Baptist Church, Stumptown, where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and Adult Bible Class Teacher. He was a charter member of Calhoun County Historical and Genealogical Society and was recognized as one of the area's authorities in local history. Surviving are his wife, Hazel Collins Knotts, whom he married in 1935; two sons, James Earl Knotts of Mineral Wells and Thomas Mark Knotts of Corning, N.Y.; one daughter, Norma Jean Shaffer of Grantsville; one brother, Walter Knotts of Massillon, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Sharon Lynn Shaffer, Norma Jean Shaffer Schroader, Carol Ann Shaffer Myers, Roberta Jo Shaffer McKee, Aleacia Jolette Knotts Peer, Christopher Jay Knotts and Adam Brett Knotts; and eight great-grandchildren. He was born at Douglas, a son of the late Henry Clay and Marjorie Margaret Witte Lamb. He was a welder and mechanic for Barbour Coal Co. He retired with a medical disability in 1983. He was a member of United Mine Workers. He served with the U.S. Army in 1950 with the 82nd Airborne Paratroopers and was a Protestant by faith. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Lea Ferrell Lamb; two daughters, Tonya Caloggero of Baltimore, Md., and Susan Springer, Courtie, Ontario, Canada; one son, Mark Lamb of East Liverpool, Ohio; two sisters, Virginia Carr of Madison and Ivalou Bourne of Fairmont; and two grandchildren. She and her husband supervised Harrison County Infirmary for 25 years and Harrison County Children's Hospital for two years. She was a member of Clarksburg Baptist Church. Steve John Lampros, Sr., 66, of Grantsville, died Saturday, May 11, 1996, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center, following a long illness. He was born in Newport News, Va., a son of the late John and Ida Ramey Lampros. He was a veteran of World War II, Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Science, a research scientist and a former assistant medical examiner. He received international acclaim for his development of vapor fixation of human tissue now widely used by the surgeon general for cancer research. He also developed technacon, which is an automatic method of preserving tissue for pathological study. Surviving are his wife, Jacquelin Baldwin Lampros; three sons, Steve J. Lampros, Jr., of Grantsville, Ricky Lee Lampros of Atlanta, Ga., and Sgt. Peter E. She founded and was past president of New Matamoras Historical Society. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years and taught Vacation Bible School for several churches in the Akron area. He was a resident of Albuquerque, N.M., for 25 years. He was the son of the late Robert M. and Mary "Myrtle" Simers Marshall of Grantsville. He served in the U.S. Army and retired as 1SGT E8 after 28 years of service. He began his career in the Fifth U.S. Army Air Corps, 1940 to 1945. He received numerous awards and decorations. He was active in the American Legion, and was a life member of Post #49. In 1979 he was appointed by Gov. Bruce King to the New Mexico State Guard as a commissioned officer with the rank of First Lieutenant.
