Carroll (Casey) Cadle, 75, of Wadsworth, Ohio, formerly of Mud Fork, Chloe, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at home.
He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Eddie and Alma Coen Cadle. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are five daughters, Rhonda Tanner of Chloe and Susan Haddox, Sandy Bihari, Tammy Little and Beverly Eppinger, all of Wadsworth; six sons, Eddie Cadle, Timmy Cadle and Paul Cadle, all of Chloe, Randy Cadle of Barberton, Ohio, Robert Cadle of Nicut and Terry Cadle of Wadsworth; one sister, Inez Westfall of Ivydale; three brothers, Raymond Cadle of Ohio, Richard Cadle of Nebo and Harold Cadle of Chloe; one half-brother, Blaine West of Barberton; 20 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and two step-brothers.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Darius Arnold officiating. Burial was in Cadle Cemetery, Chloe.

Richard Lee Cadle, 73, of Nebo, died Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at his home.
He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Eddie and Alma Coen Cadle. He was a carpenter.
Surviving are his wife, Anna M. Argabrite Cadle; two daughters, Debbie Metheney of Nebo and Teresa Taylor of Chloe; two sons, Rocky Cadle of Chloe and Richard Lynn Cadle of Nebo; three brothers, Harold Cadle of Chloe, Ray Cadle of Loren, Ohio, and Blain West of Barberton, Ohio; one sister, Inez Westfall of Ivydale; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside rites were held at Coen Cemetery, Nebo, with Rev. Darrell Mollohan officiating.

Doris Normalee Bower Cain, 69, of Madison, Ohio, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2006, at her home.
She was born in Henrietta, the daughter of the late James and Audrey Merle Kendell Bower. She worked for Hy-Ko Products, Bedford, Ohio, for 18 years and was a homemaker.
Surviving are two sons, Stan Cain of Madison and Jeffrey Cain of Eastlake, Ohio; four grandchildren; two brothers, James Bower and Jerry Bower, both of West Virginia; one sister, Kathy Hopkins of Elizabeth; and one half-sister, Germalea Fortney of North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth D. Cain, in 2002.
Services were held at The Behm Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Madison, with Rev. Stephen Fisher of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial was in Perry Cemetery, Perry, Ohio.

Kenneth Dwain Cain, 67, of Madison, Ohio, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at
Hospice House of Western Reserve, Cleveland, Ohio.
He was born at Tanner, the son of the late Columbus D. and Izen Anderson Cain.
He was retired as an administrator at TRW, Valve Division.
Surviving are his wife, Doris Normalee Bower Cain, formerly of Grantsville, whom
he married Mar. 12, 1955; two sons, Stan Cain of Perry, Ohio, and Jeffrey Cain
of Eastlake, Ohio; four grandchildren; one brother, Franklin Cain of
Parkersburg; one sister, Ruth Adams of Deltona, Fla.; one half-sister, Lola
Worthington of Parkersburg; and one half-brother, Audrey Cain of Parkersburg.
He was preceded in death by one half-brother, Junior Cain.
Services were held at Behm Family Funeral Home, Madison. Burial was in Perry
Cemetery, Perry.

Milton Cain, 94, of Big Bend, died Monday, Apr. 9, 2001, at Sunbridge of
Parkersburg.
He was born in Tyler County, the son of the late Sylvester and Rebecca
Swiger Cain. He was in the natural gas and oil production field and a
cattleman. He was a member of Hardman Chapel Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Leota Wease of Elkview and Violet M. Williams
and Nancy E. Craddock, both of Big Bend; eight grandchildren; and 11
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Madge Cain; one son, Milton Cain, Jr.;
five brothers; and six sisters.
Services will be held Friday, 2:30 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville,
with Rev. Ron Swiney officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, 6 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.

Minnie Mae Cain, 71, of Parkersburg, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Gilmer County, the daughter of the late James and Fonda Radabaugh Whipkey. She was a homemaker and attended House of Worship.
Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Frank Cain; one son, Frank Cain of Belpre, Ohio; three daughters, Nancy Hoselton of Mineral Wells, Carole Fortney of Belpre and Dianne Hayes of Parkersburg; one sister, Barbara Roberts of Nobe; four brothers, Wavel Whipkey of Vienna, Donzel Whipkey and Marvin Whipkey, both of Parkersburg, and Gail Siers of Newark; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Wiladean Amos.
Services were held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, South Parkersburg, with Pastor Tim Henson officiating. Burial was in Nobe Cemetery.

Ronald Gail Cain, Sr., 65, of Grantsville, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg.
He was born December 21, 1941 in Tanner, the son of Ruie Bond of Grantsville and the late Gail Cain. He was a gun trader and musician.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his faithful companion Virginia L. Simmons; four sons, Ronnie Cain, Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, Gary Cain of Newberne, Chris Cain and David Adkins of Ft. Walton Beach Fla.; one daughter, Tammy Linton of Columbus; two brothers, Charles Cain of Columbus, and Ted Bond of Weston; one sister, Sue Jordon of Grantsville; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Cain; and one sister, Linda Cain.
Services will be held Thursday, 7 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Charlene Spaur officiating. Private burial will be in Mt. Liberty Cemetery, Tanner. Visitation will be Thursday, 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ida Mae Curry Simers Calhoun, 86, of Grantsville, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at Minnie Hamilton Health System.
She was born at Tanner, the daughter of the late Charles Alexander and Sarah Ellen Kelly Curry. She was a member of Cherry Fork United Methodist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Charles Simers and Burl Simers and wife Jean, all of Grantsville, and John Simers and wife Linda of Mt. Zion; one step-grandchild, Charlie Roy Richards, Jr.; one great-grandson, David Bugby; four step-great-grandchildren, Alexa Richards, Brogan Richards, Kyler Propst and Mason Propst; and two grandchildren, Sandra Bugby and Cindy Simers.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Callie Simers, in 1969, and her second husband, Blaine Calhoun, in 1995; eight brothers; three sisters; one half-sister; and one half-brother.
Services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating. Burial will be in Nobe Cemetery. Visitation was scheduled Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Surviving are two daughters, Hazel Parle and Betty Stecyk, both of Akron; one son, James Bennett of Akron; two sisters, Carolyn Miller and Shirley Naylor, both of Millstone; one brother, Lonnie Hughes of Spencer; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Bennett; one son, Roger; and one daughter, Patricia.

Harless Camp, 83, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at Essex of Tallmadge, Ohio.
He was born in Gauley Bridge and lived in the Akron, Ohio, area most of his
life. He retired as a truck driver in 1981 and was a member of the Teamsters
Union.
Surviving are one son, John Camp of Brimfield, Ohio; two daughters, Barbara Ball
and Margaret Holsberry, both of Akron; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren;
one great-great-granddaughter; three brothers; two sisters; and numerous nieces
and nephews.

He was born in Akron, Ohio, the son of the late O. M. and Olive Dye Campbell. He was a graduate of Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, and had worked at Ametek Westchester Plastics, Cambridge, Ohio, Huffy Corp., Dayton and Celina, Ohio, General Dynamics, Lima and Koneta Rubber Co., Wapakoneta. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Wapakoneta.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Sue Bay Campbell, whom he married Mar. 26, 1955; two daughters, Susan Jane Campbell of Findlay, Ohio, and Karen Jean Gross of Carmel, Ind.; two granddaughters; three brothers, Ralph Campbell of Lost Creek, Joseph Campbell of Scott Depot and Michael Campbell of Big Springs; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Campbell Stanley.
A celebration of life was held at St. Paul United Church of Christ, with Rev. Dr. Alex Gondola and Rev. Elaine Mikesell officiating.

Evelyn S. Campbell, 80, of Grantsville, died Thursday, May 30, 2002, at
Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg.
She was born in Gilmer County, the daughter of the late Mathew and Lucille Floyd
Self. She was a graduate of Sand fork High School and attended Glenville State
College. She was retired from Calhoun Insurance Agency, Grantsville, with 28
years of service. She was a founder of Calhoun General Hospital Auxiliary and a
member of Grantsville Civic club, VFW Auxiliary, Grantsville Rebekah Lodge,
Calhoun County Historical Society, First Baptist Church, Grantsville, Phoebe
Cunningham Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, and Francis Melton
Mission Circle. She had served on the Calhoun County Emergency Medical Services
Board and was a former town recorder and town council member in Grantsville.
Surviving are tow sons, Joseph Campbell of Parkersburg and David Campbell of
Carrollton, Ohio; one daughter, Deborah Fritz of Nashville, Tenn.; one brother,
Matthew Self of Zephyr Hills, Fla.; four grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Campbell, whom she married in
1941 at the onset of World War II; and one half-brother, Byrne Self.
Services were held at First Baptist Church, Grantsville, with Rev. Erik Nielsen,
Rev. Charles E. Rogers, Jr., and Rev. Joseph N. Busch officiating. Burial was in
Bethlehem Cemetery, near Grantsville.

She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Jerry H. and Ora Van Kirk King. She attended Mullen Memorial Baptist Church, Belpre.
Surviving are one daughter, Gretta Bayne of Belpre; two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grand-child; one sister, Mary Ide of Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Campbell, in 1993; five brothers, Lee, Lester, Lantie, Lloyd and Robert King; and three sisters, Icie Hudson, Ethel Clark and Ellen Lafferre.
Services were held at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, with Pastor Kent Lowther officiating. Burial was in Rockland Cemetery.

Surviving are two daughters, Lotie Mattox, with whom she resided in Orient, Ohio, and Aniebell C. Dawson of Waverly, Ohio; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruby Grogan and Freda Keeper, both of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence O. Campbell, in 1995; one infant daughter, Eula Mae Campbell; two grandchildren; three brothers, Judson "Jud" McCartney, Clarence "Jake" McCartney and Carl McCartney; and four sisters, Mary Dunlap, Monie Queen, Monia Cook and Mildred Battin.

She was born at Arnoldsburg, the daughter of the late T. S. and Ruby Fox Morgan. She
was a graduate of Glenville State College, received her masters degree from West
Virginia University, and attended Marshall University. She taught in Calhoun County
and retired as a teacher in Kanawha County. She was a past president of Ladies Mission
Circle of Harmony Baptist Church and a member of Hurricane Baptist Church.
Surviving are three sisters, Joy Stevens ofGrantsville, Audena Newhart of
Williamstown, and Dolly Morgan of Mt. Dora, Fla.; one step-daughter, Janet Bennett of
St. Albans; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harless Campbell; four brothers, Owen,
Arthur, Bob, and Quinton Morgan; three sisters, Betty Morgan, Pauline Moran and
Lenora Davis; and one step-daughter, Wilda Walker.

Funeral services for Harry A. Canary, 79, of Old St. Marys Pike, who died
Saturday [May 22] at the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital following an
extended illness, will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Leavitt Funeral
Home. Burial is to be in the Arlington Memorial Gardens.
He was a life long resident of Wood County and was the son of the late
Cornelius and Hannah R. Lott Canary. He was a member of the Vienna Baptist
Church, and had been employed at the Vitrolite Co.
He is survived by two sons, Delbert R. Canary of Parkersburg, and Harry E.
Canary of Cleveland, O.; one daughter, Mrs. Wanda Bunner of St. Albans; one
sister Mrs. Rue Clegg of Vienna; four grandchildren, and four
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Sina Vannoy Canary, and
by his second wife, Mrs. Mary Grimm Canary; by one brother, Alonzo, and one
sister, Mrs. Minnie Eaton.

He was born in Spencer, the son of the late Bertha Sarah Jane Carpenter. He was a former member and deacon of Spencer Baptist Temple and member of Roane County Gun Club. He was a retired millwright from Pechiney Roller Products, Ravenswood, and a member of United Steelworkers of America Local 5668, and had worked at Monarch Rubber Co.

He was preceded in death by an uncle who raised him as a son, William H. Carpenter; one brother, Michael Carpenter; and one cousin who was raised as a brother, Billy Carpenter.

Bloomington, Ind.; two daughters, Jackie Renfrow of Horse Branch and Regina Brown
of Lexington; one brother, William Chambers of Jeffersonville, Ind.; and six
grandchilddren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Michelle Schroader.
Services were held at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home. Burial was in Lone Star Baptist
Church Cemetery, Centertown.

She was preceded in death by Richard Chambers, her husband and soul mate of 54 years, and her precious daughter, Joan Upton. She is survived by her loving daughter and friend, Judith Chambers and son-in-law Gregory Comnes, her son-in-law Jack Upton, her seven grandchildren and spouses,: Jeffrey and Renee Upton, Christopher Upton, Judy Upton, Jill Burchenal, Elizabeth and Mark Hillebrand, Jay and Joanne Upton, and Jonathan and Laurie Comnes, and twelve great grand children. A summa cum laude graduate of Marshall College in Huntington W. Va" she was a long time painter who studied under Milton Howath in St. Petersburg. Because she loved all living things, she encouraged each of us to revere life. A seeker, she was a voracious reader drawn to books of philosophy and spirituality. Among her other favorite pass times were puzzles, math problems" gardening, her pets, and her family. She was a native of Calhoun County and a life-long member of Fairview Church,

Hospital.
Surviving are two daughters, Bonita Hathaway of Union Grove, Ala., and Pauline

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Chenoweth.

He was born at Nicut, the son of the late David Oscar Chenoweth and Mary Jane Knotts Chenoweth.
He retired from Wood County Board of Education after having taught 35 years in Calhoun and Wood counties. He was a member of local, state and national teacher organizations and National Rifle Association and North American Hunting Club. He attended St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Stella Brannon Chenoweth; two sons, John Roger Chenoweth of Houston, Tex., and Frederick Allan Chenoweth of Mineral Wells; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one infant daughter; one sister, Etta Wheeler; seven brothers, Thurl R., David, Denver and Carl Chenoweth and three infants.
Services were held at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor James Kelly officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

He was born in Clarksburg, the son of the late Jack and Ida Cantwell Church. He attended Calhoun County High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 7 12th Tank Battalion of the 3rd Army, European Theatre. He worked for Roper (Newark Stove) Co. for 26 years and retired from General Electric-Newark Quartz in 1989. He was a member of Fairmount Presbyterian Church, charter member of Licking Township Volunteer Fire Dept., Inc., and life member of VFW Post 1060.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Ann Gutridge Wilson Church, whom he married Jan. 12, 1980; one daughter, Regina McArtor of Hilliard, Ohio; one son, Michael Church of Fredericktown, Ohio; two step-daughters, Jo Sobiech of Westerville, Ohio, and Becky Nethers of Thornville, Ohio; two step-sons, Barry Wilson of Thornville and Marvin Wilson of Toboso, Ohio; two granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; seven step-grandchildren; and one step-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Jack Church, Jr., and Ray Church, both of Newark, Ohio; three sisters, Geneva Richards of Weirton and Merrell Strawn and Sylvia Fekete, both of Newark, and numerous nieces and nephews.

CHARLES CLINE
Charles A. Cline, 86, of Elizabeth, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at Sunbridge Care
and Rehabilitation, Parkersburg.
He was born in Wirt County, the son of the late Albert and Sarah Etta Jacobs. He was
a graduate of Elizabeth High School, attended Glenville State College, and
transferred to West Virginia University where he received a bachelor of science
degree in mathematics and later did graduate work in education at WVU and Ohio
University. He was a World War II veteran, having served as a pharmacist's mate with
the U.S. Navy.
He retired in 1976 as Wirt County Superintendent of Schools with 33 years of service
and had been an educator at Franklin Junior High School, Parkersburg, and in
Grafton.
At the time of his retirement, he held the West Virginia record for continuous
service as a county superintendent. He was honored by having the vocational addition
of Wirt County High School named in his honor, as well as the highest award given
each year to premier male and female athletes at WCHS.
He served several terms as mayor of Elizabeth since 1963 and was past president of
Elizabeth Lions Club. He attended Elizabeth United Methodist Church and was a
former member of Morristown Evangelical United Brethern Church. He was a member
of Wirt County Retired Teachers Association, West Virginia Superintendents
Association, West Virginia Education Association, and Kappa Alpha Fraternity.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Eloise Davis Cline; one son, Charles Robert Cline
of Little Hocking; two daughters, Patricia Milhoan of Vienna and Cheryl Fiedorczyk of
Grantsville; one sister, Leah Cline of Parkersburg; one grandson, Charles Andrew
Milhoan of Vienna; and two granddaughters, Leah Fiedorczyk and Ansley Fiedorczyk,
both of Grantsville.
He was preceded in death by one brother, William Cline, and three sisters, Anna
Scott, Mildred Douglas and Phyllis Grant.

LEAH CLINE
Leah E. Cline, 98, of Parkersburg, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at The Willows,
Parkersburg.
She was born in Wirt County, the daughter of the late Albert and Sarah Etta Jacobs
Cline. She was a 1924 graduate of Elizabeth High School and received a bachelor of
science degree from Ohio University and a master's degree from Columbia University.
She was a World War II veteran and taught in West Virginia and New Jersey for more
than 40 years before retiring to Parkersburg and working a number of years as a
volunteer for Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
Surviving are several nephews and nieces, including Cheryl Fiedorczyk of Grantsville,
and several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, William Cline and Charles A. Cline, and
three sisters, Anna Scott, Mildred Douglas and Phyllis Gant.
Services were held at Busch Funeral Home, Elizabeth, with Rev. Robert Stanley, Dr.
William Deel and Albert Scott officiating. Burial was in Knights of Pythias
Cemetery, Elizabeth, with military honors rendered by U.S. Dept. of the Army, Fort
Knox, Ky.

Brenda Clute, 42, of Spencer, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at Charleston.
She was born in Spencer, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Peggy Marie Casto
Carter of Arnoldsburg.
Surviving are her husband, Donald Clute; one daughter, Tabitha Clute; one son,
Joe Clute; and five sisters, Donna Krantz of Spencer, Vicky Dye and Lisa Wigal,
both of North Carolina, Pamela Baxter of Florida and Teresa McClain of Maryland.
Services were held at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer.

Lucille J. Jarvis Cobb, 68, of Washington, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at her residence.
She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Rex and Millie Cottrill Jarvis. She had been a nurse's aide at Willows Nursing Home. She was a homemaker and a Christian.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, William D. Cobb, Sr.; two sons, William D. Cobb, Jr., of Parkersburg and Robert G. Cobb of Washington; one daughter, Rondell Muck of Adrian, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin Rex Jarvis and Adra Jarvis.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Wadesville Cemetery with Pastor Frank Miller officiating.

Emile B. Coen, 86, of Creston, Ohio, died Saturday, Mar. 15, 2003, at her home.
She was born in Chloe, the daughter of the late Oka and Myrtle Jarvis Conley. She was a resident of Creston for 57 years and retired from Nabisco Brands, Seville, Ohio, in 1989.
Surviving are three daughters, Eva Clevidence of Wadsworth, Ohio, and Wanda Halpin and Sandy Flickinger, both of Creston; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Carsie Conley of Chloe; and three sisters, Orda Offutt of Creston, Mildred Lewis of Charleston and Oleta Yentz of Wadsworth.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Lester “Buss” Coen, who died Mar. 22, 1983; four brothers, Claret, John, Ray and Harley Conley; and one nephew, Harley Conley, whom she raised.
Services were held at Murray Funeral Home, Creston, with Rev. Homer Watson officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Frank Stacy Coen, 68, of Ivydale, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, at his home.
He was born in Clay County, the son of the late Floyd and Ida Sharp Coen. He was
a self-employed carpenter and mechanic and made stringed instruments.
Surviving are 11 daughters, Norma Westfall of Maysel, Paula Metheney, Deanna
Hall, Reva Coen and Phyllis Tanner, all of Ivydale, Penny Coen of Chloe, Debbie
Davis of Shock, Stacy Murphy, Melissa Drake and Shonda Tanner, all of Clay, and
Jerri Drake of Duck; one sister, Elsie Behn of North Ridgeville, Ohio; eight
grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Otter Lick Church, Ivydale, with Rev. Darrell Mollohan
officiating. Burial was in Coen Cemetery, Nebo.

Harley H. Coen, 86, of Strange Creek, died Sunday, July 31, 2005, in Braxton County Memorial Hospital, Gassaway.
He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Bernice D. and Stella Sharp Coen. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp, coal miner, certified welder on high pressure pipelines, and farmer. He was a member and one of the founders of Keeners Ridge Community Church.
Surviving are two sons, Terry Coen of Horner and Jerry Coen of Concord, N.C.; two daughters, Lois Teets and Carol Teets, both of Strange Creek; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Freda L. Coen, on Feb. 13, 1993, and five brothers, Coy, Jim, Ottis and two infants.
Services were scheduled Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Keeners Ridge Community Church, with Rev. Kevin Teets and Rev. Ray Teets officiating, and burial in Walker Cemetery, Keeners Ridge.

Surviving are seven daughters, Mary Jo Coates, Helen Frank, Nettie Fulenwilder, Judy Lee, Ginger Reed, Loretta Van Cooney, and Sharon Rizer; four sons, Bernard T. Jordan, William Cogar, Gerald Cogar and Richard Cogar; three sisters; two brothers; 35 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Ewing’s Funeral Home, Elyria, with Richard Kight officiating. Burial was in Cogar Cemetery.

Viola Gay Starcher Cogar, 95, of Arnoldsburg, died Sunday, June 10, 2001, at
Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center.
She was born at Claria, Daniels Run, the daughter of the late Thomas Jackson and
Mary Elizabeth Smith Starcher. She was a homemaker and quilt maker and served as
a foster grandmother at Arnoldsburg Elementary School.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Cogar; three sisters, Stella F.
Craig, Leona M. Anderson and Minnie L. Starcher; and seven brothers, Charlie W.,
Allen B., Fred A., Carl C., Roy F., and infant twin brothers, Vianis and Vitalis
Starcher.
Services were scheduled Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg,
with Blame Cook officiating, and burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation was
scheduled one hour prior to services.

Ambros Collins, 67, of Grantsville, died Saturday, June 28, 2003, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center.
He was born in Pineville, the son of the late Winford and Hazel Marie Weaver Collins. He graduated from Pineville High School and St. Leo University. He was a veteran of 24 years of military service, having served two tours in Vietnam. He retired from Defense Investigative Services in 1999 after 10 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Grantsville.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Carolyn Collins; three sons, Gerald Collins of Jacksonville, Fla., Gregory Collins of Kennesaw, Ga., and Jeffrey Collins of Lampoc, Calif.; three sisters, Shelby Goodwin of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Sharon Cook of Wilmington, N.C., and Diane Smith of Vienna; six grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Jim Skedel officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery, near Grantsville.

Flora Evelyn McElwee Collins, 96, of Normantown, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006.
She was born at Lockney, the daughter of the late Judson and Lozanna Boone McElwee. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Stumptown, since Jan. 8, 1933, having served as Sunday School teacher, secretary of Women's Mission Circle, and VBS worker.
Surviving are one daughter, Twila Moyers of Normantown; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hayward Bernard Collins, whom she married Nov. 2, 1942; two brothers, Fred McElwee and Wilbur McElwee; and four sisters, Flossie Turner, Olena Norman, Mellie Flenner and Alma McElwee.
Services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, with Elder Larry Fisher and Rev. Harry Siers officiating. Burial will be in Collins Community Cemetery, Stumptown. Visitation was scheduled Wednesday, 5 to 8 p.m., and Thursday, 10 to 11 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church or Rosedale Baptist Church.

Gene L. Collins, 70, of Cutler, Ohio, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio.
He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Madge Hammer Dye and Howard L. Collins. He was a retired truck driver and operated a cattle farm at Cutler and also G&C Water Hauling. He was a Christian and attended Bible Baptist Church, Bartlett, Ohio, and Decatur Chapel, Decatur, Ohio.
Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Carol; three sons, Larry, Martin and Dale Collins; two daughters, Donna Uhl and Theda Stevens; three step-sons, Harold, William and Richard Parsons; four brothers, Gilbert, Louis and Kenny Dye and Gary Collins; two sisters, Wilmadeane Williams and Hazel Tustin; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Naomi Travis, and two infant children.
Services were scheduled Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, Ohio, with Rev. Jack Berry and Rev. Tim Lindsay officiating, and burial in Fairview Memory Gardens, Belpre.

She had worked in a store that she owned with her husband. She was an active member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Stumptown, and a member of Women's Mission Circle.
Surviving are one daughter, Hannah Davis of Toledo, Ohio; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Ores Collins, who died in 2001.
Services were held at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Underwood and Rev. Mark E. Davis officiating. Burial was in Collins Community Cemetery, Stumptown.

Rev. Manley O. Collins, 91, of Big Springs, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at St. Joseph
Hospital, Parkersburg.
He was born at Freed, the son of the late Manley Sanford and Leora Caroline Morris
Collins. He was a 1956 graduate of Fairmont State College with a bachelor of arts
degree in sociology. He was a retired minister of 46 years with W.Va. United
Methodist Conference. He began his ministry in 1938 with United Brethern Church
until it merged with the Evangelical Church in 1946, which later merged with the
Methodist Church. He served at Tanner, Alton, Wilbur, Rivesville, Bridgeport, Terra
Alta, Pennsboro, Grantsville, and West Milford. Following retirement in 1975, he
served the Tanner Charge and later the Pullman Charge. He was a member of Hoy Chapel
United Methodist Church, Freed.
Surviving are three sons, Manley O. Collins, Jr., of Parkersburg, Gerald W. Collins
of Warren, Ohio, and David L. Collins of Christiansburg, Va.; two daughters, Darlene
C. Scott of Palm Coast, Fla., and Willa C. Hoskinson of Kitty Hawk, N.C.; 15
grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two step-
grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Wanoka Jane Collins; one daughter,
Deloris A. Cain; two brothers, Cline Collins and Carl Collins; three sisters, Osa
Richards, Dosha Freed and Roxie Dawson; three half-brothers, Ora Collins, Oman
Collins and Charles Collins; one half-sister, Oda Cornell; and two great-great-
grandchildren.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Roger Waybright, a
protégé of Rev. Collins during his ministry, officiating. Burial was in Collins
Family Cemetery, Coal Fork of Leading Creek.

Ores Collins, 96, of Normantown, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, at his residence.

He was born in Gilmer County, the son of the late William F. and Florence Minney
Collins. He started driving team for Hope Natural Gas Co. at the age of 16 and
went into a partnership with O.A. Collins in a general store in Lockney from
1921-1927. He operated a gas station in Lockney from 1928-1970 and raised beef
cattle until 1985. He served on the Gilmer County Board of Education from
1948-1952 and as a committee member and president of Agriculture Stabilization
and Conservation Service, and received a Community Service Award in 1985 from
Gilmer County Farm Bureau. He was a trustee of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church,
Stumptown, from 1950-1985 and superintendent of the Sunday School for 15 years.
Surviving are his wife of 75 years, Juanita Stump Collins; one daughter, Hannah
Florence Davis of Toledo, Ohio; three grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.
He was the last member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by
three brothers, Arnett, Hayward and Hollie Collins, and two sisters, Monnie
Boggs and Jewell Kuhl.
Services were held at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with Rev. Larry VanHorn, Elder
Larry Fisher and Rev. Lester Walker officiating. Burial was in Collins Community
Cemetery, Stumptown.

He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Robert Lee and Jettie Belle Collins. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from G. E. Plastics.
Surviving are one son, Dave Collins of Parkersburg; one daughter, Carrie Rubart of Walker; one sister, jenny Joseph of Belpre, Ohio; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his companion of over 20 years, Shelley Solana and one son, Clay Collins.

He was born in Logan, the son of the late Erma Chafin Dillon. He was retired
from Local Union #798 and worked as a welder on pipelines.
Surviving are one daughter, Jackie Collins-Frail of Richwood; one half-sister,
Sue Ann Steele of Arnoldsburg; one half-brother, Bill Dillon of Arnoldsburg; and
several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at Stump funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. roger Carter
and Rev. Cleston Garrett officiating. Burial was in Sand Ridge Cemetery.

She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late John and Hattie Gillian Smith. She was office manager for several years at Hardman's Home Center, Spencer, and a member of Reedy United Methodist Church.
Surviving are one son, Les W. Conley of Elyria, Ohio; two daughters, Eleanor Rae Mills of Leroy and Barbara Lynn Conley of Ripley; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray R. Conley; one infant son, John W. Conley; two brothers, Milo M. Smith and Paul H. Smith; and one sister, Olive C. Coon.
In honoring her wishes, she will be cremated. There will be no services.

great-grandsons; and two step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Harley Conley, June 22, 1996, and three

He was born at Oka, the son of Ella Mae Brannon Conley of Looneyville and the late Jennings B. Conley.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1966-68. He was a truck driver for more than 30 years.
Surviving in addition to his mother are one daughter, Crystal Hall of Bomont; one son, Jerry Conley of Rittman, Ohio; three grandchildren; three brothers, Melvin, Gilbert and Paul Conley, all of Looneyville; and eight nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Terry Conley.

She was born at Smithville, the daughter of the late Ernest and Stella Wolfe. She was a graduate of Calhoun County High School and attended Mountain State Business College, Parkers-burg. She had been a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader and active in Elyria Schools PTA.
Surviving are one son, Charles E. Conley of Elyria; one daughter, Mae E. Middleton of Westerville, Ohio; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Edna Mann of Stone Mountain, Ga.; and one brother, Clifford Wolfe of Hixson, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph R. Conley, Sr., in 1975, and one son, Ralph R. Conley, Jr., in 2004.

William Fletcher Conley, 59, of Morgantown, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000 at home.
He was the son of Thelma Conrad Conley Cottrell of Parkersburg and the late Delmar
Conley and was raised on White Oak at Chloe, attended White Oak School and
graduated from Calhoun County High School with the class of 1958. He retired from
U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Soil Conservation Division with 31 years of service and was
an engineer for Gannett Fleming Inc. He was a member of Registered Professional Civil
Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers, and West Virginia University Alumni
Association. He was a Baptist.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife of 39 years, Berdeal DeWeese Conley;
and three daughters, Lisa J. Conley of Nitro, Linda Corrado of Rehoboth, Dela., and
Laura Ann Conley-Rinehart of Charleston.
Services were held at McCulla Funeral Home, Morgantown, with Evangelist Gene
Kessel officiating. The body was cremated.

Francis (Frank) Marion Connolly, 69, of Chatham, Ill., died Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at Maple Ridge Care Center, Lincoln, Ill., after an auto accident.
He was born in Creston, the son of the late Ralph C. Connolly and the late Etta M. Boise.
He served in the U.S. Air Force as a master sergeant from Dec. 7, 1959, to Dec. 31, 1980, including three tours in Vietnam. He was a member of American Legion, VFW, Knights of Columbus, and Shrine. He was an ASE certified mechanic.
Surviving are his wife, Rosemary Kapp Connolly; two sons, Sean Connolly and Alan Connolly; three sisters, Inez Connolly Mullins, Ina Connolly Blatt and Catherine Chapin; and one brother, Ralph Corneilius Connolly, Jr.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Thelma Irene Connolly, Vada Lea Kovaleski, Carolyn Rose Rogers and Grace Frances Swimme Nourie; and two brothers, Gary Duane Connolly and Terrence Daniel Connolly.
Funeral mass was held at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Chatham, with Fr. John Nolan and deacon candidate Frank Maynerich officiating, and military honors by Sangamon Co. burial detail. Burial was in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.

She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late William Edward and Sarah Elizabeth Whytsell Nichols. She was a former member of Richardson Methodist Church and a homemaker.
Surviving are two daughters, Marge Fowler of Grantsville and Eileen Fowler of Huntington; one son, Jack Connolly and wife Jennifer of Jacksonville; one half-sister, Geneve Eagle of Mt. Zion; 10 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Ball; her second husband, Jack Connolly; one son, Johnny Ball; one brother, Buford Nichols; and one sister, Audrey Riggs.
Graveside services were held at Mt. Zion Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth Heiney officiating.

Irma Connolly
Irma Connolly, age 71 of Caldwell, Ohio passed away Wednesday morning December 13, 2006 at her home, following a brief battle with cancer. She was born on February 9, 1935 in Calhoun County, W.V. a daughter of the late Ralph and May Boice Connolly.
Irma had a long career as a waitress in various restaurants, Travelers Restaurant in Parkersburg, W.V., The Gun Room at The Lafayette Hotel in Marietta and most recently Lori’s Restaurant in Caldwell. Irma dedicated her life to rescuing and caring for lost or abandoned animals, mostly cats and dogs.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by three sisters, Irene Connolly, Carolyn Rogers and Vada Kovaleski; two brothers, Gerry and Dan Connolly.
Irma is survived by two brothers, Neal Connolly of Caldwell and Frank Connolly of Chatham, Illinois; three sisters Inez Mullins of Athens, Ohio, Ina Blatt of Kent, Ohio and Katy Chapin of McConnelsville, Ohio.
There will be no formal calling hours or memorial service. Irma generously donated her body to science in the hope that she may help in some way to find a cure for this disease. Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH is assisting the family locally.

He was born in Creston, the son of the late Howard and Jane Shrader Cooper. He was a self-employed contractor. He built and was founder and pastor of Parkersburg Revival Center. He traveled throughout the U.S. and Jamaica preaching evangelistic services.
Surviving are his wife, Cathy Schulz Cooper; two sons, Forrest Michael Cooper and Stephen N. Cooper, both of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one daughter, Sharon Kay Ketterling of Oklahoma City; one adopted daughter, Emily Jane Clark of Parkersburg; one sister, Byrnadeen Offutt of Millstone; one brother, Bernstein N. Cooper of Pineville; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Richard D. Cooper.
Services were held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with David Carpenter and Rev. William D. Stutler officiating. Burial was in Cooper Cemetery, Little Creek.

Harry Willard Cooper, 83, of Waterford, Ohio, died Monday, May 19, 2003, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Richardson, Calhoun County, the son of the late Grover Cleveland and Julia Ann Cooper Tucker. He graduated from Wirt County High School and attended Glenville State College for two years. After teaching two years and serving four years in the U.S. Air Force, he completed bachelor and masters degrees at Illinois State University. He served more than 30 years in Wolf Creek Local School District, Ohio.
Surviving are his second wife of eight years, Jane Leone Cooper; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; four step-children; nine step-grandchildren; and 13 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alberta Staubus Yoder Cooper; one son, Harry Ronald Cooper; two step-brothers; one step-sister; and one grandson.
Services were held at McCurdy Funeral Home, Beverly, Ohio, with Rev. Garry Hogue officiating. Burial was in Waterford Cemetery with military rites.

Harry D. Cooper, 83, of Norton, Ohio, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007.
He was born at Nebo, the son of the late Lambert Myers Cooper and Rebecca Mollohan Cooper. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the USS Nashville. He retired from PPG and was a member of Coventry Lodge 83, AF&AM, and Home Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, the former Dorma Murphy of White Oak; one son, Jerry Cooper; one grandson; four sisters, Bina Hicks of Akron, Ohio, Marlene Potasnik Tanner of Nebo, Elva Browning of Charleston and Elza Vaughan of St. Albans. In-laws include Arthur and Flona Murphy.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Brooks Cooper of Chloe and Bazil Cooper, and six sisters, Jessie Thompson, Dottie Brannon, Gertie Hardway, Georgia Cooper, Sylvia Cooper and Margaret Shearer.
Services were held at Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, Barberton, Ohio, with Rev. Jim Ellis officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Elizabeth Cooper and Daniel Cooper, both of Annamoriah, and Chrisie Cooper
and Gary Lee Cooper, both of Portland, Ohio; and one sister, Mary Wolverton
of Big Bend.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dexter Cooper; one son, Clarence
Cooper; and six brothers.
Services were scheduled Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home,
Grantsville, with burial in snider Chapel Cemetery, Annamoriah. Visitation
was scheduled Tuesday, 5 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.

VIRGIL DAVID COOPER
Virgil David Cooper, 25, died Sept. 26, 1950, in a Veterans Hospital,
Pittsburgh, Pa.
He was born at Cremo, the son of Delbert and Bessie Cooper. He was converted in
September, 1945, and later was baptized and joined Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
He enlisted in the Army on Mar. 12, 1947, and served 1 year, 6 months, and 16
days, with 9 months spent in Germany. He received a medical discharge on Sept.
27, 1948.
Surviving in addition to his parents are three brothers, Ralph of Cremo and
Bernard and Dale, both at home; five sisters, Lorraine Greathouse of Parkersburg
and Juanita, Faye, Gail and Carol, all at home; and six nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Cooper and Sfs. Boyd L. Cooper,
who was killed in action in Korea, Sept. 18, 1950, after serving in the Army
since Apr. 30, 1946.
Services were held at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with Rev. H.B. Strickland of
Clover, Rev. Raymond Straight of Tarriff and Rev. Bud Graham of Creston
officiating.
Military graveside rites were conducted by Victor Hamilton Post No. 82, American
Legion, at Wright Cemetery.

Mary Smith Rupert. She was a homemaker and member of Calvary Apostolic
Tabernacle and Wirt County Senior Citizens.
Surviving are two sons, Roy Hayes Copen and Lloyd Copen, both of Elizabeth;
four daughters, Mary Enoch of Elizabeth, Betty Winans of Newark, Gladys
Fordyce of Mineral Wells and Peggy Hendrickson of Fairbanks, Alaska; two
brothers, Basil Smith of Stillwater, Ohio, and Dale Smith of Dothan, Ala.;
two sisters, Eula Reynolds of New Philadelphia, Ohio, and Rita Smith of
Stillwater; 19 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren,
great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Burton Copen, in 1995;
one son, Robert Copen; two daughters, Mabel Copen and Carolyn Copen; one
sister, Ester Cunningham; six brothers, Homer, Okey, Oaoatha, Denver, Walter
and Hays Smith; tow half-brothers, Lovel Smith and Ernest Smith; two
half-sisters, Glady Cain and Ruth Perkins; five grandchildren; and one
great-grandchild.
Services were held at Owl Hill United Methodist Church, Chestnut Run, with
Rev. Tim Hopkins officiating. Burial was in Owl Hill Cemetery.

great-great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren and
step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Turner; one great-grandson,
Dean Rutherford; three sisters, Beryle King, Gae King and Gathel Bishop; and
three brothers, Doy, Russ and Tom King.
Services will be held Thursday, 1 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with
Rev. Rick Matheney officiating. Burial will be in King Cemetery, Nicut.
