Mabel Dorothy Eddy, 92, of Parkersburg, died Sunday, Apr. 8, 2007, at Willows Center, Parkersburg.
She was born at Creston, the daughter of the late Addie and Mahala Wright Lucas. She retired from DeSales Heights Academy.
Surviving is one son, Robert Eddy of Parkersburg; one daughter, Maryland Kyler of Kissimmee, Fla.; and several grand-children, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David E. Eddy; one son; three brothers; two grandchildren; and four sisters.
Services were held at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Burial was in Evergreen South Cemetery.

ANTHONY (ANDY) EDGELL
Anthony L. (Andy) Edgell, 84, of Creston, died Saturday, July 26, 1975, at Calhoun General Hospital after an extended illness.
He was a native of Wetzel County and son of the late Walter and Mary Swiger Edgell and a retired oil field driller. He was a member of Eureka Lodge No. 40, AF&AM, Grantsville, and Cremo United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Rose Ann Edgell; three sons, Lora and Don, both of Barberton, Ohio, and Jennings of Lagrange, Ohio; five daughters, Blondena Stutler of Barberton, Irene Husk, Betty Westfall, an Mona Sampson, all of Grantsville, and Emodes Starcher of Madison; three brothers, Lora H. and Ed of Glendale, Ariz., and Dearing of Akron, Ohio; two sisters, Pearl Carouth of Clinton, Ohio, and Georgia Coile of Akron; 25 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home with Glendon McKee officiating. Burial was in Wright Cemetery, Cremo, with Masonic Graveside Rites.

DONALD LEE EDGELL
Donald Lee Edgell, 71, of Norton, Ohio, died Saturday, July 24, 2004.
He was born at Cremo, the son of the late Anthony and Rosa Edgell. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Rock-well International and was employed by Manchester Tool Co. He was a member of Wadsworth Church of Christ and played dobro with Bluegrass Mountaineers and Earl Todd and Sundown Valley Boys.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley; three sons, Joshua, Anthony and Donald Edgell, Jr.; five daughters, Melissa McAvinew, Linda Yeager, April Edgell-Henline, Donna Jean Edgell and Debbie Slymac; four sisters, Betty Smith, Mona Sampson of Grantsville, Emodee Starcher and Irene Husk; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lora “Veon” and Jennings, and one sister, Blondina Stutler.
Services will be held Thursday, 2 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial will be in Wright Cemetery. Visitation was scheduled Wednesday, 4 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

ERNEST EDGELL
Pfc. Ernest Edgell, 25, was killed in Belgium on Dec. 23, 1944, while swerving with the 101st Airborne Glider Infantry.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Edgell. He entered the armed services on March 27, 1942. He was received into the membership of Walnut Methodist Church on Dec. 7, 1939, by pastor L.C. Morris.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Ruby Metz Edgell, whom he married Oct. 27, 1942; one son, Ernest Paul; and four sisters, Mrs. W.J. Barr and Mrs. Wayne Mayse of Huntington, Mrs. R. J. Chenoweth of South Charleston and Mrs. Claude Newell of Nicut.
Services were held at Walnut Methodist Church, with Rev. Charles Wilkinson officiating. Burial was in Prudence Chapel Cemetery with VFW and American Legion of Grantsville conducting military honors.

Jennings E. Edgell, 78, of LaGrange, Ohio, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002, at Community Health Partners, Lorain, Ohio.
He was born in Cremo, the son of the late Andy and Rosa Edgell. he served in Europe, Africa and the Middle East with the U.S. Army air Force during World War II. He was employed as a job setter at Ford Motor Co., Brook Park, for 22 years before retiring in 1974. He was a mechanic and member of UAW Local 1250.
Surviving are his wife, Wanda; three sons, Richard L. and James R., both of Elyria, Ohio, and Tony J., of LaGrange; five daughters, Jeanette Behner and Ruth Ann Edgell, both of LaGrange, Sandy Plasman of Spencer, Carolyn White of Elyria and Tresa Thompson of Berea, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald of Wadsworth, Ohio; and four sisters, Betty Smith, Irene Husk and Mona Sampson, all of Grantsville, and Emodee Starcher of Madison.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Judy and Janet Edgell; one grandson, Shawn Huddleston; one brother, Veon Edgell; and one sister, Blondena Stutler.
Services were held at Dicken Funeral Home, Elyria, with Rev. Theodore Smith officiating. Burial was in Rover Road Cemetery, LeGrange Township.

Rose Edgell, 83, of Creston, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 1980, in Calhoun General Hospital.
She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Enoch and Annie Stutler Chedester. She was a member of Cremo Community Church.
Surviving are five daughters, Blondena Stutlar of Barberton, Ohio, Emodee Starcher of Madison, Irene Husk, Mona Sampson and Betty Westfall, all of Grantsville, three sons, Lora and Donald, both of Barberton, and Jennings of Elyria, Ohio; 25 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy Edgell, in 1975.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, with burial in Wright Cemetery, Cremo.

Ruth Witte Elbon, 73, of Orlando, Fla., died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, in Orlando.
She was born at Milo, the daughter of the late Harriet Wallbrown and Cart Witte. She formerly lived in the Norton and Doylestown areas in Ohio.
Surviving are three sons, Daniel of California, David of Florida and Donald of Iowa; several grandchildren; one brother, Hubert Witte of Akron, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Val.
Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Akron.

ALVIN RAY ELDER
Burns Fatal To Child
Burns received Monday proved fatal to Alvin Ray Elder, four year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Hayward Elder of near Grantsville. The child died at 2:30 Tuesday. The child at play with other children, placed a five gallon can containing black oil,on a fire, and an explosion resulted inflicting fatal injuries to the Elder child.
Funeral and burial services were conducted Wednesday afternoon from the Betts cemetery with the Rev. J. M. Snyder officiating.
Surviving the child are his parents, one brother, Kenneth, and one sister Mary Kathryn. 1931-1934

Doyle S. Elliott, 86, of Greensburg, Pa., died Wednesday, Mar. 26, 2008, in Westmoreland Manor, Hempfield Township.
He was born in Grantsville, the son of the late Paul and Mae Stump Elliott.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and Korean War. He retired from Peoples Natural Gas Co. and was a member of First Baptist Church, Greensburg.
Surviving are one daughter, Jill K. Bollinger of Noblesville, Ind.; one son, Timothy Q. Elliott of Greensburg; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lea Burns Elliott, on Sept. 7, 2007; one son, William K. Elliott, on Dec. 1, 1978; and several brothers and sisters.
Services were held at Leo M. Bacha Funeral Home, Greensburg, with Rev. David D. Moutz officiating, and burial in Bethlehem Cemetery, near Grantsville.

Mrs. Eliza Elliott Taken At Her Home Near Hartley
Mrs. Eliza Elliott, aged 82, "Aunt Liza" as she was familiarly known in her home in Calhoun county near Hartley on Monday morning following an illness of several months from diseases incidental to advanced age.
She was the widow of the late Garrett Elliott of Hartley.
Surviving are: one son, T. W. Elliott of Hartley, and one daughter, Miss Amy at home. Five grandchildren and three or more great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held from the Straight Creek Baptist Church at Hartley on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, with Rev. A. F. Monroe, of Elizabeth officiating.
Interment was made in the Hartley cemetery.

ESTA ELLIOTT
Of Esta, little daughter of George and Sarah Elliott. On the morning of May 1st, when all nature was wrapped in loveliness, little Esta passed from the shares of time to that of eternity, to dwell with the "white robed throng who have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb." Though she was scarcely two years old, and had never trod the paths of sin, we would commend the sorrowing parents to Him who "doeth all things well." Weep not dear friends as they who hath no hope, but rather rejoice that one more flower is blooming in paradise. Esta is now free from all care, where there will be no more sickness, pain and death, no more good byes, she now rests in that sunbright clime where father mother and brothers can go to her. Then look to Him who can heal the broken heart. Though Esta was a bright and loving child, far brighter is she today than any of the earthly. Her remains were laid to rest in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Guinevere R. "Guin" Elliott, 79, died Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, at Obici Hospital, Suffolk, Va., where she resided with her son.
She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Coy and Luerna Robinson. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Grantsville, and had worked at Rubber Fabricators and county clerk's office and was retired from Calhoun Library.
Surviving are one son, Michael; two daughters, Nancy and Bobi; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert "Tuck" Elliott, whom she married Nov. 22, 1945; three sisters, Lurland, Gertrude and Greta; and one brother, Harold.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery, near Grantsville.

Melba Elliott, 90, of Parkersburg, formerly of Millstone, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg.
She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Alva and Clara Haught Elliott.
She was a graduate of Calhoun County High School and Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at Gouvenor Hospital, New York, and entered the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps in 1942. She helped set up a U.S. Naval hospital on Long Island, N.Y., and served at Mare Island, Calif., and U.S. Naval Base No. 18 in Guam, where she treated casualties from the Okinawa and Iwo Jima campaigns and survivors from the USS Indianapolis. She served at U.S. Naval Air Dispensary, Norfolk, Va., and at Norfolk Naval Hospital. She was discharged in 1947. She was an office nurse for the late O.H. Brundage, M.D., for 20 years. She was a member of Millstone Church of Christ and attended Rosemar Church of Christ.
Surviving are one sister, Eula Elliott of Parkersburg; two brothers, John W. Elliott and wife Ella of Millstone and Hulbert C. Elliott and wife Helen of San Bernardino, Calif.; seven nieces and nephews; and seven great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Avis Elliott, in 1994; one nephew, Nelson D. Elliott; and one great-nephew, Vincent Moran.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Evangelist Corley Miller officiating. Burial was in Barr Cemetery, Millstone.

She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Clyde A. Snider, Sr., and Myrtle Busch Snider. She retired from Broughton's Dairy, was a member of Porterfield Baptist Church and attended Mineral Wells Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia J. Dye of Mineral Wells and Kitty S. Munday of Elizabeth; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Schaefer of Parkersburg and Barbara Riggs of Vienna; and one brother, Clyde A. Snider, Jr., of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Elliott; one brother, Pete Snider; and two sisters, Kate Leavitt and Marge Neal.

She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Ernest Ray and Anna Hicks Harold.
She was a retired motel owner and operator in the Orlando, Fla., area. She was a charter member of Linden Chapter 152, Order of Eastern Star, and a member of South Parkersburg Baptist Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Sharon Drake of Rockport; one son, Ray Elmore of Tariff; one sister, Susie Boggs of Cocoa, Fla.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Otmer Elmore, and two great-grandchildren, Ashley Elmore and Stacy Shaffer.
Services were scheduled Wednesday, 11 a.m., at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. Robert A. "Bob" Keen officiating, and burial in Clover Cemetery. Visitation was scheduled one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

He was born in Spencer, the son of the late Albert and Emma Webb Epling. He was employed by Lubeck Public Service Commission and was a Baptist.
Surviving are his wife, Delores Robinson Epling; two sons, Randy Epling of Mineral Wells and Rick Epling of Parkersburg; one daughter, Tammy Epling of Washington; one granddaughter, Amy Epling of Mineral Wells; two sisters, Ester Parsons of Grantsville and Elizabeth Keffer of Parkersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
Services were held at Kimes Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Joseph Law officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Home Cemetery, Belleville.

He was the son of Emma Lauvaughn Roberts Erlewine of Mt. Zion and the late Martin Blane Erlewine. He retired from Toughmotor Corp., Cleveland, Ohio, after 25 years of service.
Surviving in addition to his mother are six brothers, Mike Erlewine, Ronnie Erlewine, James Erlewine, Robert Erlewine and Donald Tallhammer, all of Grantsville, and Richard Erlewine of Columbia, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Louise Kerby Estep, 87, of Grantsville, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006.
She was born in Roane County, the daughter of Dewey and Martha (Mattie) Kerby. She was a 1935 graduate of Calhoun County High School and attended Mountain State Business College. She worked 12 years at Stone & Thomas, Charleston. She was a life-long member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and charter member of Women's Society of Christian Service, holding local and district offices. She was a Methodist Youth Fellowship leader and Sunday School teacher.
Surviving are two daughters, Janet L. Davis of Grantsville and Betty Kirby of Charleston; four grandsons, Bob Bailey, Rodney Davis, Kris Kirby and Greg Kirby; and two great-grandsons.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Rick Swearengin officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Cecil Tell Evans 64, of 5030 Cain. died at 5:45 p.m. in a local hospital after a short illness. He was a native of Grantsville Wv. Born Dec 25, 1906. and had lived in Corpus Christi, TX. the past 36 years. He was an oilfield worker.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Ross Langham Mortury, burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Corpus Christi.
Survivors include his wife Vada ; two sons, Rusty Evans of Corpus Christi and Jack Evans of Sinton TX. three daughters; Mildred Gutierrez, Doris Evans, and Betty Phillips all of Corpus Christi 16 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Vada B. Stout-Evans 75 passed away January 1, 1987 at her home, she was born November 21, 1911 in Calhoun Co. Wv. the daughter of the late Marcellus Stout and Hannah Slider of Barnes Run, and had lived in Corpus Christi TX. since 1935.
She is survived by three daughters, Mildred Gutierrez, Doris Evans, and Betty Phillips, all of Corpus Christi; two sons, Jack Evans of Grunberry, Texas, and R.D. Rusty Evans of Driscol, Texas, one sister Hattie Booher of Mt. Zion, Calhoun Co. Wv. one brother Eddie Stout of Mt. Zion, Calhoun Co. Wv.; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Tell Evans and her parents, three brothers, Charley Stout of Ohio, Earl Stout of Ohio, Joseph Stout of Ohio, three sisters, Mary J. Gainer of Ohio, Delta Uldrich of Ohio, Bertha Stout of Calhoun Co. Wv.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, at the Colonial-Langham Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James P. Green officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

REV. RAYMOND EWING
Rev. Raymond O. Ewing, 81, of South Charleston, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at home.
He was retired from FMC Corp., South Charleston, with 44 1/2 years of service. He played football while attending Calhoun County High School and was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Universal Life Church.
Surviving are his wife, Jo Ann Ewing; five daughters, Sherry Guerrero of North Carolina, Pam Jaymes of Michigan, Donna Wileman of Bomont, Lessa Ewing of Buffalo and Connie Anderson of St. Albans; one son, Jack Ewing of South Charleston; one half-brother, Junior Hundley of St. Albans; one half-sister, Georgie Harris of Texas; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home, St. Albans, with Rev. Tom Cochran and Rev. Carl McCallister officiating. Entombment was in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
