SANDRA BULLARD HACKNEY
Sandra K. Bullard Hackney, 66, of Belmont, formerly of Orma, died Sunday, Sept. 30 at Carehaven of Pleasants.
She was born June 23, 1941, at Elana, a daughter of the late Burl and Hazel Ellison Bullard. She was a member of the Belmont Baptist Church and had been an active member of the West Fork Senior Citizens. She worked at Goodwill Industries in Charleston from 1978 to 1982.
Surviving are two sisters, Frances Tawney and Vicki Deweese, both of Belmont; one brother, John Bullard and wife Eloise of Chloe; four nephews, four great-nieces; and five great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Hackney.
Services were scheduled Wednesday, 11 a.m. at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Kelly Snyder officiating and burial in Zion Hill Cemetery, Elana.

Edith Haddox, 75, of Raceland, Ky., died in King's Daughters Medical Center.
She was born in Parkersburg, the daughter of the late Gilbert and Cocoe Richards
Dawson. She was a member of Grace Memorial United Methodist Church, Raceland.
Surviving are her husband, Donald D. Haddox; one son, Donald R. Haddox of
Huntington; one sister, Eula Jenkins of Williamstown; and three grandchildren.
Services were held at Carman Funeral Home, Flatwoods, Ky., with Rev. Van Firestine
officiating. Burial was in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Barboursville.

Vicky Jean Haid, 53, of Charleston, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, at her home. She was born in Braxton County, the daughter of the late Brooks and Genevieve Arnold Cooper. She was a personal care provider for the WV Department of Health and Human Resources. Surviving are her husband, Bill Haid; one daughter, Millie Hollman of Mt. Airy, N C; one brother, Bob Cooper of Chloe; and one granddaughter, Sarah Hollman of Mt. Airy. Services were held Friday, November 9 at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, Rev. Darius Arnold officiating. Burial was in the Cooper Cemetery at Nebo.

Kenneth Cloyd Hale, 68, of Fruitland Park, Fla., died Saturday, Mar. 4, 2006.
He was born in Calhoun County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a retired vocational instructor for Florida Dept. of Corrections. He was a member of Sons of the American Legion. He was a Baptist.Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Joyce C. Hale; one son, Kevin M. Hale of Fruitland Park; two brothers, George Hale of Parkersburg and Thomas Hale of Big Springs; and two sisters, Barbara Reed of Parkersburg and Carolyn DeWeese of Chloe.Services were scheduled Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Beyers Funeral Home, Lady Lake, Fla., with Rev. Gordon Sanders officiating, and burial in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla. Visitation was scheduled Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the funeral home.

Dana E. Hall, 66, of Millstone, died Sunday, Mar. 7, 2004, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg.
He was in Calhoun County, the son of the late Lawrence and Gae Butler Hall. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from the W.Va. Dept. of Highways.
Surviving are his wife, Thurmel Poling Hall; one brother, Ross Hall of Barberton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, June Nicholas.
Services were scheduled Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Clarence McKown officiating, and burial in Poling Cemetery, Millstone. Visitation was scheduled one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

James Stanley Hall, 78, of Kopperston, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000.
He was born near Alice, Gilmer County, the son of the late Sam and Freda Langford
Hall. He was a graduate of Calhoun County High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran
of World War II. He retired from Hope Natural Gas Co. in 1984 as chief engineer of
Loup Creek Compression Station, Kopperston.
Surviving are two daughters, Diane Wolfe of Seymour, Tenn., and Pam Worrell of
Oceana; one son, Sam Hall of Beckley; five sisters, Gladys Youst of Fairmont, Peg
Hendershot of Wooster, Ohio, Anita Simpson of Weirton, Mazie Glover of Morgantown
and Grace Moore of Mannington; one brother, Ray S. Hall of Dover, Del.; nine
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and caregivers, Ronda Bailey and family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Elaine Slider Hall, and one
brother, Wilbur Hall, MIA over Germany in World War II.
Services were held at Toneda Baptist Church with Rev. Dewight Stafford officiating.
Entombment was in Palm Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Matheny, with military rites
by Wyoming County Honor Guard.

Larry Ray Hall, 59, of York, S.C., died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at his home.
He was born in Clendenin, the son of the late Forest and Lenora Hurley Hall. He was a production manager with South Carolina Educational TV and Radio. He was an honorary archaeologist for the State of South Carolina and had worked with WVETV to help save Canaan Valley. He was a member of Palmetto Promenader's Square Dance Club.
Surviving are his wife, Donna Engle Hall; two sons, Sean Edwin Hall and Chad Tristan Hall, both of York; one daughter, Mary Beth Edwards of York; two sisters, Debbie Stewart of Weston and Kay Taylor of Clendenin; and three grandchildren.
Graveside service was held at Mt. Liberty Cemetery, Tanner.

Robert Gene Hall, 57, of Winter Haven, Fla., died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at home.
He was born in Ravenswood, the son of the late Charles Alan and Vivian Elizabeth
Wilson Hall. He was a retired master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and Vietnam War
veteran, and member of American Legion, Air Force Sergeant Association, Disabled
American Veterans, and Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife, Sandy Batten Hall of Winter Haven, Fla.; two sons, Chris Hall
and Scott Hall, both of Ravenswood; one step-daughter, Alisa Kelley of Charlotte,
N.C.; two brothers, Jim Hall of Ravenswood and Bill Hall of Chester, Va., two
sisters, Libby Orahood of Colonial Heights, Va., and Sharon Hall of Petersburg, Va.;
and three grandchildren.
Services were conducted at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Minister
Denver Haught officiating. Burial with military graveside rites was in Mt. Zion
Cemetery, Gay.

Selby "Joe" Hall, 65, of Parkersburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at Camden-Clark
Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Elmira, the son of Hazel E. Kendall Hall of Barberton, Ohio, and the
late David M. Hall. He was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran and also retired from
Montgomery Ward. He was a member of New Horizon and attended South Parkersburg
Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Stephanie M. Hall of Parkersburg;
two sons, Brian Hall and Stephen Hall, both of Parkersburg; three daughters, Caroline
Poling of Parkersburg, Corine Stevens of Batesburg, S.C., and Margaret Lynch of
Coolville, Ohio; three brothers, Jack of Hinckley, Ohio, James of Barberton and Jake
of Steubenville, Ohio; four sisters, Wilma Fulks of Nicut, Betty Scott of Richmond,
Ohio, Clara Hart of Griffen, Ga., and Linda Hall of Barberton; 11 grandchildren; and
four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jerry, Jonny and Junior.
Services were held at South Parkersburg Baptist Church, with Pastor Ed Rogers
officiating, and military rites by American Legion Post 15.

Virginia Dare Hall, 79, of St. Marys, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at her residence.
She was born in Parkersburg, the daughter of the late Amos Wallbrown, Sr., and Rebecca Sturms Wallbrown Wilson.
She was raised in Calhoun County and lived in Pleasants County for 52 years. She attended Parkersburg High School.
Surviving are five sons, Amos Richard "Dick" Hall, Roger Lee Hall and Jerry Edward Hall, all of St. Marys, Freer Randall Hall, Jr., of Palatine, Ill., and Alan Dale Hall of Williamstown; one daughter, Randa Dare Gregg of St. Marys; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Freer Randall Hall, Sr., and five brothers, Amos Wallbrown, Jr., Cloyd Wallbrown, Paul Wallbrown, Bill Wallbrown and Boyd Wallbrown.
Services were scheduled Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, with Evangelist Arnold Huyghebaert officiating, and burial in Cloverdale Cemetery, Pleasants County. Visitation was scheduled at the funeral home on Tuesday, 2 to 8 p.m., and Wednesday, 10 to 11 a.m.

Wheeler G. Hall, 74, of Clover, Roane County, died Saturday, Apr. 27, 2002, at
his home.
He was born at Arnoldsburg, the son of the late Raleigh W. and Iva Greathouse
Hall. He was a retired teacher and principal in Roane and Kanawha counties, with
33 years of service. He was a 1945 graduate of Calhun County High School and
attended West Virginia Wesleyan College. He received a B.A. degree from marshall
University in 1960. He was a member of Spencer Roane County Volunteer Fire Dept.
and charter member of Clover Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a Methodist and a Navy
veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Ada H. Hall, whom he married Aug. 25, 1951; one brother,
Edsel "Pancho" Hall of Spencer; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. Daniel R.
"Danny" Whited officiating. Burial was in Clover Cemetery.

WOODROW HALL
Woodrow E. Hall, 88, of Millstone, died Sunday, July 7, 2002, in Grafton General
Hospital, Grafton.
He was born at Arnoldsburg, the son of the late Edwin and Matilda Adams Hall. He
was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Northern Solomon Islands
and in the Philippines. Hew as awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, two
Bronze Stars, World War II victory Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon and
Medal for Good Conduct. He retired as a supervisor for Consolidated Natural Gas
Corp. after 30 years of service. He attended Albert's Chapel United Methodist
Church, Sand Ridge, and was known for quoting, "The Flag Goes By," throughout
his life.
Surviving are one daughter, Sharon Hall Spencer of Fairmont; one sister, Hazel
Ayers of Parkersburg; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Flo McKee Hall, and 11 brothers and
sisters.
Services will be held Friday, 1:30 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg,
with Rev. Rick Swearingen officiating. Burial will be in Sand Ridge Cemetery,
with military gravesite rites by American Legion Post #21, Spencer. Visitation
is scheduled at the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m. until the service.

LORENTZ CARR HAMILTON, JR.
Lorentz Carr Hamilton, Jr., 82, of Grantsville, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at Eagle
Point Health Care Center, Parkersburg.
He was born in Grantsville, the son of the late Lorentz C. Hamilton, Sr., and Nelle
Dodson Hamilton.
He graduated from Calhoun County High School, attended Glenville State College, and
was a graduate of West Virginia University and of University of Richmond School of
Law. He was a World War 11 veteran of the South Pacific Theater with the 96th
Infantry Division and was involved with the invasions of Leyete and Okinawa. He
practiced law in Grantsville for many years, served as prosecuting attorney and
magistrate in Calhoun County, and was an attorney for the Small Business
Administration for 20 years in Washington, D.C. He was a member of the American
Legion, V.F.W. Post #5959 and Lions Club of Grantsville. He was active in Boy Scouts
of America where he served on several troop committees, was instrumental in
establishing Boy Scout troops for handicapped children, was an assistant scout master
with handicapped children and served on the District Committee in Arlington, Va. He
was a member of Knotts Memorial Methodist Church, past president of Calhoun County
Historical Society, and a member of the Civitan Club and former member of Elks Lodge,
Parkersburg.
Surviving are his wife, Sue P. Hamilton of Grantsville; two sons, Lorentz (Larry) C.
Hamilton III and Earl Davis Hamilton, both of Parkersburg; and two grandchildren, J.R.
Herrmann and Jeremy Herrmann, both of Parkersburg.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Victor Hamilton.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Casey Stinespring
officiating. A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers,
the family requests that contributions be made to S.W. Resources, Parkersburg.

Paul B. Hammer, 84, of Fort Whipple VA Center, Prescott, Ariz., died Thursday, Sept.
21, 2000.
He was born in Big Bend, the son of the late Jacob M. and Myrtle B. McHenry Hammer.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in both the Pacific Theater and the
European Theater at the Normandy landing. He and his wife moved to Prescott from
Grantsville in 1988. He was a carpenter and member of Prescott Community Church.
Surviving are his wife, Sylvia, whom he married Sept. 24, 1937; three daughters, Patty
Spear of Phoenix, Ariz., Karen McLain of Sedro Woolley, Wash., and Ann Vander
Linden of Castle Rock, Colo.; two brothers, Vernon and Dale Hammer, both of
Parkersburg; numerous grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one son.
Services were held at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, Cortez and Carleton,
with Pastor Bob Meyers officiating.

Paul B. Hammer, 84, of Prescott, Ariz., died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, in Veterans
Affairs Medical Center, Prescott.
He was born in Big Bend, the son of the late Jacob M. and Myrtle B. McHenry Hammer.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served in both the Pacific and
European theaters, including the Normandy landing. He was a carpenter and a member
of Prescott Community Church.

He was the son of Erman and Joann Hammons of Fenwick. He was employed by Columbia of West Virginia, Craigsville.
Surviving in addition to his parents are four brothers, Gary F. Hammons of Grantsville, Johnny H. Hammons of Craigsville, Larry Hammons of Fenwick and Ronnie L. Hammons of Lexington, N.C.; and one sister, Carla A. Bailey of Richwood.
Services were held at Simons-Coleman Funeral Home, Richwood, with Rev. Oscar Spinks officiating. Burial was in West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin.

Nora E. Hamric, 68, of Pennsboro, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, in Laurel Nursing
and Rehabilitation Center, Ivydale.
She was born in Braxton County, the daughter of the late Worthy and Electa
Hamric. She attended Grace Baptist Church, Grantsville.
Surviving are three daughters, Sharon Little and Sheena Dean, both of
Grantsville, and Kathy Westfall of Pennsboro; two sisters, Dora Hamric of North
Carolina and Isabell Pearl Hoover of Texas; 17 grandchildren; and seven
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, David Sidwell, and two daughters, Linda
and Brenda Sidwell.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Mike Worf
officiating. Burial was in Hunt Cemetery, Big Bend.

Charles Hamrick, 67
Charles R. Hamrick, 67, of Ravenna, died Sunday, July 7, 2002, at Altercare Nursing Home in Ravenna, where he had been a resident for two days.
Born April 12, 1935 in Grantsville, W. Va., he was the son of William and Sarah (Reynolds) Hamrick. He had lived in Ravenna for 50 years.
Mr. Hamrick was a heavy equipment operator at Darwal Inc.
He was a social member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1055 and a former member of the Italian Club.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy (Holtsclaw), to whom he was married 47 years; sons, Gerald (Linda) of Massachusetts, Bryan (Laura) of Brimfield, Carl (Christina) of Ravenna and Steven of Kent; daughters, Sharon DuChene of Kent and Susan (Herbert) Phillians of Ravenna; nine grandchildren and brother, Harold of West Virginia. Three sisters and five brothers died previously.
There will be no calling hours. A private memorial service will be held. Arrangements
are being handled by Shorts Funeral Home in Ravenna.

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of Frank and Loretta Heffernan Lauria.
Surviving are her husband, Louis Hanes; two sons, Chip Hanes of Grantsville and Robert Hanes of New York; one daughter, Kelly Hanes of Grantsville; and two grandchildren.
Graveside rites were held at Hanes Family Cemetery, near Grantsville, with Rev. Rick Metheney and Rev. Tim Hickman officiating.

David Gail Hanlon, 70, of Harrisville, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg.
He was born in Pennsboro, the son of the late Oris G. and Janet Wilson Hanlon. He had been a practicing attorney in Harrisville since 1971 and a state senator representing Calhoun, Ritchie, Pleasants, Wirt and Wood counties from 1976-1986.
Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Carole Hanlon; two daughters, Khara Gael Hanlon and Meghan Gael Hanlon, both of Harrisville; and two sisters, Diane Pierce of Harrisburg, Pa., and Kathleen Layne of Davisville.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Suzanne Sandy.
Services were held at Harrisville Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Perine officiating. Burial was in Harrisville IOOF Cemetery.

Irene M. Douglas Hanna
Irene M. Hanna, 84, of West Akron, Ohio, died April 15, 2004, following a short illness.
She was born in Milo, West Virginia, on Aug. 23, 1919.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Harry, and is survived by her son, Dennis (Karen) Hanna of Copley; daughters, Marcia Schray and Tammy (Don) Evans of Akron; grandchildren, Josh Schray, Gabriel Schray, and Kelly Hanna; sister, Ruth Boggs of Akron; brothers, Nolan Douglas of Akron, William Douglas of Wadsworth; and a host of relatives and friends.
Irene devoted herself to her home and family. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed gardening, and was known far and wide for her culinary skills. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service was held Saturday, April 24 at 1 p.m., at the Mausoleum Chapel of Rose Hill Burial Park, 3653 W. Market St., Akron.

Argle Bernard Hannah, 83, of Vienna died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 23, 1924, in Grantsville, the son of the late Clinton and Ina Bennett Hannah. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired as division manager after 47 years with Consolidated Gas Co. He was a member of the North Parkersburg Baptist Church, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and VFW Post 573.
Surviving is his wife of 39 years, Elsie Williams Hannah; one daughter, Hope Phillips of Mineral Wells; two sons, Edwin Hannah and wife, Robin, of Parkersburg and Fred Hannah and wife, Janice, of New Market, Va.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Jim Eller and wife, Becky, of Sevierville, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by two sisters; one brother; one brother-in-law; one granddaughter; and one grandson.
Services were held Sunday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna, with Pastor Mike Towner officiating.

She was born at Apple Farm, near Grantsville, the daughter of the late Robert F. and Amanda M. Bennett. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Grantsville, Fell Kennedy Sunday School class, charter member of Rebekah Lodge #52, Grantsville, for 69 years, past district deputy president of American Legion Auxiliary Unit #200 with 67 years service, and Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center Auxiliary.
Surviving are one daughter, Edythe Johnson of Grantsville; two sons, Argle Hannah of Vienna and Robert Hannah of Grantsville; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Clinton G. Hannah; one daughter, Virginia Lee Hannah; one great-granddaughter, Stacy Hannah; one great-grandson, Todd Hannah; and two sisters, Lelah Vannoy and Oleta Bennett.

He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Clinton and Ina Barnett Hannah. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He retired as an engineer for Consolidated Natural Gas Co. with 35 years service. He was a former Calhoun County constable and Grantsville councilman. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Grantsville.
Surviving are one daughter, Sheila Hannah Rivenbark of Bolivia, N.C.; one brother, Argel Hannah of Vienna; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Lee Hannah and Edythe Johnson.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. C.W. McDonald officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery, near Grantsville.

Services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m., at Memorial United Methodist Church, Spencer, with Rev. Beth Peters officiating. Burial will be in Eventide Cemetery, Spencer.

He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Frank and Artie Cunningham Hardman.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a retired Sergeant First Class with the U.S. Army Reserve Military Police. He was a graduate of Calhoun County High School and was retired from Consolidated Natural Gas Co. He was a member of Beech Valley United Methodist Church and taught Bible Study at Broomstick and Norman Ridge churches.
Surviving are his wife, Docie Ellen Frederick Hardman; one son, Nathan G. Hardman of Grantsville; one daughter, Carol Sue Nicholson of Grantsville; two sisters, Jean Smith of Cortland, Ohio, and Armetta Shedl of Warren, Ohio; one brother, Tom Hardman of Hixson, Tenn.; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Audrey, Freeman, Clifford, Ronzel and Junior Hardman, and six sisters, Lena, Nina, Belle, Alta, Betty and Caroline.

Rader Hardman, 97, of Rt. 1, Reedy, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at Eldercare
of West Virginia, Ripley.
He was born in Richardson, the son of the late Johnny M. and Electa Scott
Hardman. He graduated from Spencer High School in 1925, completed Spencer Normal
School and attended New River State College, Montgomery. He was a farmer, taught
school for 23 years in Roane County, and worked for the Agriculture
Stabilization Service. He was a member of Peniel United Methodist Church, where
he had been a member of the Administrative Board, the Board of Trustees, and a
Sunday School teacher.
Surviving are one daughter, Janet Lee Bryant of Ripley; two sons, John D.
Hardman and George E. Hardman, both of Peniel; 10 grandchildren; and 11
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel and Ruby Claire; his wife of more
than 50 years, Elsie Elizabeth Gandee Hardman; and two children, Betty Jean and
Charles Conn.
Services were held at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. Eldon
Shingleton and Rev. Jerry Eaton officiating. Burial was in Spencer Memorial
Cemetery.

deputy assessor from 1943-45, and was a former employee of Union Carbide Corp.,
Alloy. He was an operating engineer and retired in 1985 after 18 years of
service with Columbia Gas. He had been a member of Campbell Lodge 101, I.O.O.F.
Spencer, since 1948, and was a member of Kanawha United Methodist Church,
Davisville.
Surviving are two grandsons, John M. Tallman of Pace, Fla., and Brian M. Tallman
of Arlington, Wash.; three granddaughters, Ruth E. Robrecht of Parkersburg, Mary
E. Starcher of Williamstown and Cathy L. Nelson of Davisville; 14
great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Marjorie

She attended First Baptist Church of Spencer, and was a homemaker..
Surviving are two sons, Stanton Aquilla Harris and Wayne Cecil Harris both of Spencer; three sisters, Dorlene Walker of Ravenswood, Dormal Rhodes and Wanda Nutter both of Spencer; six grandchildren, five great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Corliss Willard Harris, Sr.; one son, Corliss Willard Harris, Jr.; one sister, Joy Metz DeWeese.
Services were held Sunday, December 9 at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. Michael F. "Mike" King and Rev. Randall L. "Randy" Whited officiating. Burial was in Clover Cemetery.

He was born in Elyria, Ohio, the son of Virgie Harris of Stumptown and the late Kenneth Darrell Harris. He graduated from Murray Ridge School and was employed by Murray Ridge Workshop, Elyria. He was a former member of Midview Baptist Church, Grafton, Ohio, and a member of Rush Run Baptist Church, Stumptown, and Rush Run CEOS.
Surviving in addition to his mother is one sister, Kathy Bishop of Fairfax, Va.
Services were scheduled Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Rush Run Baptist Church, with Rev. John Vannoy officiating, and burial in Collins Community Cemetery, Stumptown. Visitation was also scheduled Wednesday, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville.

Rev. Ray N. Harris, 76, of Parkersburg Road, Spencer, died Friday, Mar. 30,
2001, in Roane General Hospital.
He was the son of the late Rev. C.D. and Glada Ritchie Harris. He was a
graduate of Calhoun County High School, earned a bachelor's degree at
Glenville State College, a master's degree at West Virginia University, and
did graduate work at Marshall University. He was a U.S. Army veteran of
World War II and retired as assistant superintendent of Calhoun County
Schools following 40 years in public education as a teacher, counselor, and
administrator. He served many years in the ministry in Lewis, Boone,
Gilmer, Braxton, Roane and Calhoun counties. He was a member of National
Education Association, W.Va. Education Association, and Calhoun County
Teacher's Association. He was active in AARP, Cancer Coalition, Miletree
Auxiliary, VFW, and the Democratic Party.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Helen Carpenter Harris; one son, Douglas
R. Harris of Spencer; one brother, William D. Harris of Grantsville; two
sisters, Oleta Heiney of Ravenna, Ohio, and Juanita Waggoner of Deerfield,
Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Leota Leggett of Carter, Ky.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. John Powell
officiating. Burial was in Collins Community Cemetery, Stumptown, with
military graveside rites.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Harris; one infant daughter,
Lois Jean Harris; one son, Ronald Harris; one grandson, Jack Wine; and one
great-grandson.

with Rev. Jerry Scott officiating, and burial in Bethlehem Cemetery, near

William Dewitt Harris, 82, of Grantsville, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, at his residence.
He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Rev. C.D. and Glada Ritchie Harris.
He graduated from Calhoun High School in 1941 and retired from Calhoun County Board of Education as a custodian. He was a member of Knotts Memorial United Methodist Church, where he served as superintendent for 46 years. He was a member of Parkersburg's Nemesis Temple, Charleston's Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, and Order of Eastern Star and Eureka Lodge No. 40, Grantsville. He served on Grantsville's town council, was a Cub Scout leader, softball pitcher and active in civic organizations.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Harris of Parkersburg and Larry Harris of Grantsville; two daughters, Judy Phares of Marietta, Ohio, and Dorothy Kerby of Grantsville; one sister, Oleta Heiney of Ravenna, Ohio; six granddaughters, Alice Harris, Debbie Williams, Ronda Williams, Kelly Raines, Alissa Harris and Casey Harris; three great-grandchildren; and a close friend, Wilma Gene Kerby.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ernestine Winifred Wilson Harris; one daughter, Alice Marie Harris; one brother, Rev. Ray Harris; and two sisters, Juanita Waggoner and Leota Leggett.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Mary Zimmer officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery, near Grantsville, with Masonic graveside rites.

leader, member of Order of Eastern Star 73, Rebekah Lodge 52, Daughters of the
American Revolution, Phoebe Cunningham Chapter, VFW Ladies Auxiliary 5959,
AFSCME, PTA, Civic Club, Calhoun Band Boosters, Calhoun Hospital Auxiliary, 4-H
Leaders Association and W.Va. Public Employees Association. She attended Mt.
Zion United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Ernest Hartshorn; three daughters, Sharon
Lynch and husband Ed of Parkersburg, Kathy Bailey of Clarksburg and Kelley
Houchin and husband Jeff of Arnoldsburg; seven grandchildren, Jim Lynch of

member of VFW Auxiliary Post 5959 and a member of Hires Run Methodist Church,
Burnsville.

Grantsville; two brothers, Hurcel Knight of Parkersburg and Louis Knight of
Baltimore, Md.; four sisters, Margaret Cunningham of Grantsville, Mammie Beall

He served as a member of Wirt County board of education and Wirt County Development Authority. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Hathaway; three sons, Tim and Terry, both of Washington, and Rick of Parkersburg; one daughter, Kim of Salt Rock; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four step-children, Diane, Sherry, Kim and Kevin; seven step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Hathaway; six brothers, Ophard, Ira D., Cleo, Willard, Frederick and Freddie; and three sisters, Dessel, Mittie and Janivee.

Frederick H. Hathaway, M.D., 91, of Lincoln, Nebraska, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006.
He was born in Grantsville, the son of the late Frederick S. and Eva Dye Hathaway. He was a Captain in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and received the Army Commendation Medal. He graduated from West Virginia University and received his medical degree from University of Louisville School of Medicine in 1939. He was in the practice of internal medicine in Lincoln from 1946-87. He was with Veterans Affairs Adjudication Division since 1988. He was a member and officer of numerous medical associations, Trinity United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 3.
Surviving are one son, Dr. Frederick Hathaway of Lincoln; one daughter, Sarah Ann Hathaway of Lincoln; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, David Hathaway of Bexley, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Hinton Hathaway, and one sister, Virginia Hathaway Kirby.
Private family services were held at Lincoln Memorial Park.

Homer Hathaway, 84, died Saturday, Mar. 31, 2001, at Camden Clark Memorial
Hospital.
He was born in Grantsville, the son of the late Sida H. and Matilda Summers
Hathaway. He retired as a truck driver from Helms Express after 27 ½ years
of service. Following retirement, he worked for his son at Superior Toyota,
Parkersburg. He was a member of Teamsters Local 175 and was an active
member of First Church of the Nazarene where he was a Sunday School teacher.
Surviving are his wife, Catherine Hathaway; one son, Tom Hathaway of
Parkersburg; one daughter, Janet Snook of Cincinnati, Ohio; four
grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was the last surviving and youngest of 15 children, including eight
brothers and six sisters.
Services were held at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Keith
Hostutler officiating. Burial was in mount Olivet Cemetery.

Gwendolyn H. Haught, 93, of Mt. Zion, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, in Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center's long term care.
She was born at Arnoldsburg, the daughter of the late James A. and Lydia Whytsell Hoskins. She was a member of Brooksville Baptist Church and Mt. Zion Homemakers Extension Club.
Surviving are two daughters, Burdeal Wright and husband Keith of Lanexia, Va., and Dorcas Cain and husband Joseph of Big Bend; two sons, James Haught and wife Wanna Lee of Hagerstown, Md., and Leonard Haught and wife Carol of Lakewood, Ohio; one brother, Vere (Buster) Hoskins and wife Ivy of Arnoldsburg; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace L. Haught, and five sisters, Tressie Carey, Elaine Moneypenny, Harriet Hoskins, Ernestine Mace and Betty Jo Morehead.
Services were scheduled Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Harry Siers officiating, and burial in Liberty Hill Cemetery, Arnoldsburg. Myrtle Jarvis Haught, 88, of Raleigh, N.C., died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at
Brighton Gardens Special Care Unit, Raleigh.
She was born and raised in Grantsville. She was a member of First United
Methodist Church, Clarksburg, was an active member at Clarksburg Country Club
and Oral Lake Fishing Club, and served as an auxiliary volunteer at UHC for
several years.
Surviving are two daughters, Josephine Nerhood and Melissa Stanley, both of
Raleigh; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Una Jarvis
of Clarksburg, Lois Davis of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Ola Stalfort of
Grantsville; and nine nieces and nephews, Robert F. Riggs, William L. Fouse,
Claude A. Fouse, Joseph L. Jarvis, Richard L. Jarvis, Alan W. Davis, Barbara
Halles, Robin Canapp, and John Jarvis Stalfort.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Joseph William Haught, on
Mar. 10, 1965.
Memorial service was held at Edenton Street United Methodist Church, Raleigh.
Burial will be in Grantsville later in January.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Knotts Memorial Methodist
Church, Grantsville.

She was born in Gilmer County, the daughter of the late Ola and Lorena Grim White. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, Grantsville, former telephone operator, and retired from Calhoun General Hospital.
Surviving are one stepson, Donald Hayhurst; four sisters, Madeline Kight, Dorothy Howard, Gwendolyn Ritchie and Judith McGrath; one brother, Bill White; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Hayhurst.
Services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation was scheduled Wednesday, 3 to 6 p.m., and Thursday, one hour prior to services. Donations can be made to Worthington Manor Activity Fund.

Rev. Richard Paul Hayhurst, 70, of Gauley Bridge, formerly of Grantsville, died Sunday, May 21, 2006.
He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Paul and Delta Godfrey Hayhurst. He attended Calhoun County High School. He was a minister and evangelist. For the past several years, he had resided at New River Lodge; Gauley Bridge, where he worked as desk clerk.
Surviving are one sister, Jo Ann Nicholas of Good Hope, and one nephew, Jason Bryan Nicholas of the Netherlands.
He was preceded in death by one infant brother, Hoyt Neal Hayhurst.
Services will be held Thursday, 2:30 p.m. at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. :with Rev. Charles Blankenship officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation was scheduled at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

He was born in Arnoldsburg, the son of the late F.L. and Imogene Johnson Haymaker II. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and worked for O'Ames for 34 years. He was a member of Hope Freewill Baptist Church, where he taught the teen class.

Surviving are three daughters, Phyllis Keffer and Tris Ferrebee, both of Parkersburg, and Nancy Sturdevant of Little Hocking, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cline Joseph Haymaker; six sisters; and three brothers.

Alfred K. "Piff" Hays, 87, of Rockville, Md., died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at
Rockville Nursing Home, Rockville.
He was born in Grantsville, the son of the late Robert E. and Kate Cain Hays.
He graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1932 and attended West Virginia
Wesleyan College and University of Maryland. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of
World War II and the Korean War. He worked for the State of West Virginia for 32
years and retired as executive secretary of W.Va. Racing Commission in 1985. He
was a member of BPOE, American Legion, and Trinity Episcopal Church.
Surviving are one son, Johnson Camden Hays of Boyds, Md.; one grandson, Mathew
Camden Hays of Boyds; and one brother, Hugh E. Hays of Reston, Va.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arnold L. Hays and Robert C. Hays, and
two sisters, Lois Hendershot and Kathleen Boone.
Services were held at Trinity Episcopal Church, Parkersburg, with Rev. Jack
Neilson officiating. Burial was in Parkersburg Memorial Gardens.

Gilbert Hays, Former Fire Chief, Dies at 75
Parkersburg Fire Chief Gilbert F. Hays, 75, of 106 43rd St., Parkersburg,
died Monday evening [May 21] at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Brohard, W. Va., a son of the late John Adams and Alviretta
Shimer Hays. He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints. He served in War War II in the U.S. Navy, and was a
member of the Parkersburg Fire Department for 25 years. The last 13 were
served as chief of the department.
He is survived by two daughters, Debra Sue Sheppard and Sharon Williams,
both of Parkersburg; two step-children, John McLean of St. Petersburg,
Fla., and Richard Spiker of New Jersey; one grandson, four
step-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandson; four sisters.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Shutts Hays; second
wife, Etta Lawson Twyman Hays; two brothers, and two sisters.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, at the Vaughan Funeral Home, with
Orval Cottrill officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen North Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday,
and until time of service on Thursday.

He was a former employee of Bernard Pipeline Construction Co., Barberton, Ohio. He was a former Calhoun County sheriff and school bus driver, and former co-owner of Heiney and Son Construction Co. He attended Rush Run Baptist Church and was a member of Bee Creek and Wolf Run hunting clubs.

Forest Le Vere Heiney, 86, of Glenville, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was the son of the late Howard and Retta Hosey Heiney. He operated F.L. Heiney Dairy for 15 years and operated a Quaker State station and grocery store for 21 years. He served in the Navy as 1st Class Petty Officer stationed on the USS Clearfield during World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Pearl Simmons Heiney; one son, Darrell Heiney of Lewisburg; one daughter, Dianna Heiney Smith of Spencer; six sisters, Geneva Snider of Grantsville, Lela Reeder, Juanita Reynolds and Grace Wilson, all of Parkers-burg, Elenora Cirric of Aurora, Ohio, and Louise Newbrough of Brohard; two brothers, Harry Heiney of Ravenna, Ohio, and Charles Heiney of Grantsville; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Buddy, Denver and Donald Heiney, and one sister, Marie Masocline.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Kenneth Heiney officiating. Burial was in Betts Cemetery.

Oleta L. Heiney 84, of Ravenna, Ohio, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007 at Regency Hospital in Ravenna.
She was born January 27, 1923 in Grantsville, the daughter of the late Rev. C. D. and Glady (Ritchie) Harris. She was a 1942 graduate of Calhoun County High School and lived in Portage County, Ohio for 57 years. She was a member of Blackhorse Baptist Church, Ravenna.
Surviving are her husband of 65 years Henry; one daughter Donna Heiney of Ravenna; four sons, Denny Heiney of Fairlawn, and Roger Heiney, Jeff Heiney and Chris Heiney all of Ravenna, 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Tschantz, one son, Ronald G. Heiney, Sr.; two sisters, Leota Fultz and Juanita Waggner; and two brothers, Bill Harris and Rev. Ray Harris.
Services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at Shorts Funeral Home 141 N. Meridian St., Ravenna, with Rev. Dallas Sanford and Rev. Lorren Roberts officiating. Entombment will be at Grandview Memorial Park, Ravenna. Visitation will be held Thursday, 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was born in Roane County, the son of the late Preston and Mary King Helmic. He was a World War II veteran having spent three years in the U.S. Navy Coast Guard.
Surviving are one step-son, John Norman and wife Freda of Orma; one son, Jim Helmick and wife Dawn of Millstone; one daughter, Janet Marks and husband Jack of Arnoldsburg; one grandson, Alex Marks of Arnoldsburg; and four granddaughters, Erin Helmick of Lakeland, Fla., and Ava Helmick, Hannah Burris and Crystal Marks, all of Millstone.

Lucas Aaron Hickman, 16, of Grantsville, and Daniel Bronson Hickman, 17, of
Nobe, died as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on
Rt. 16, near Grantsville, around midnight Friday evening, Mar. 31, 1989.
Lucas Aaron Hickman was born at Hickory, N.C., the son of Phillip and Marva
Whipkey Hickman of Grantsville. He was a junior at Calhoun County High
School, where he was a member of the varsity football team, wrestling team,
and choir. He was a member of the Clarion school newspaper staff, Boy
Scouts of American Troop 39, and Cherry Fork United Methodist Church.
Surviving are three sisters, April, Melody, and Rose, all at home; maternal
grandmother, Hester Whipkey Stump of Grantsville; and paternal grandmother,
Gladis Hickman of Grantsville.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Ralph Whipkey, and
paternal grandfather, Orel Hickman.
Daniel Bronson Hickman was born in Parkersburg, the son of Orel Bronson and
Alice Jennings Hickman of Nobe. He was a senior at Calhoun County High
School, where he was a member of the choir and Vandalia singers. He was to
be the master of entertainment for the CHS Follies. He was a member of the
Cherry Fork United Methodist Church.
Surviving are one sister, Lisa Dawn Hickman, at home; maternal grandmother,
Mae Jennings of Nobe; and paternal grandmother, Gladis Hickman of
Grantsville.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Fred Jennings, and
paternal grandfather, Orel Hickman.

Surviving are her husband of 57 years, William B. Hickman; three daughters,
Nancy Short of Columbus, Ohio, and Ruth Stockwell and Patricia Pierce, both
of Morgantown; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother,
Harrold Dietrich of Columbus.
Services were held at First Baptist Church, Marietta, with Rev. Gary
Stowasser and Rev. Clifford Nuss officiating. Burial was in Valley
Cemetery.

Isa D. Hickman, 56, of Wheeling, died Jan. 13, 1960.
She was born at Rocksdale, the daughter of the late Austin R. and Flora Sturm Hickman. She was a nurse at Ohio Valley General Hospital, Wheeling, for many years.
Surviving is one brother, Berle Hickman of Parkersburg. She was a niece of Roy, Ray and Isie Sturm of Arnoldsburg.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Fay and Paul Hickman.
Services were held at McCoy Funeral Home, Wheeling. Burial was in Sturm Cemetery, Millstone.

ORLESS HICKMAN
Orless "Jake" Hickman, 75, of Parkersburg, died Thursday, June 6, 2002, at
Camden-Clark memorial Hospital.
He was born in White Pine, the son of the late Ethan and Pearl Kendall Hickman.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the 63rd Infantry in the Korean War. He retired
from Hope Gas Co. after many years of service. He was a Methodist.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Yoak Hickman; one son,
Orless Lee Hickman of Vienna; one daughter, Marla Parrish of Parkersburg; three
grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Jack Hickman of Dunbar; two
sisters, Coe McCartney of East Liverpool, Ohio, and Blondena Parshall of
Charleston; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Oral Hickman.
Services were held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Bob
Stanley and Rev. Earle Arthur officiating. Burial was in Sunset memory Gardens
with full military rites by American Legion Post 15.

Bina A. Hicks, 91, of Akron, Ohio, formerly of Little White Oak, Chloe, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007 at Hospice of Ridgewood, Akron.
She was born in Clay County, the daughter of the late Lambert and Rebecca Mollohan Cooper. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are one daughter, Candice Burnside of Akron; three sisters, Marlene Tanner of Nebo, Elva Browning of Charleston, and Elza Vaughan of Dunbar; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rector Hicks.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg with Rev. Jim Ellis officiating. Burial will be in the Hicks Cemetery, Little White Oak, Chloe. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services Saturday.

Carroll "Buck" Hicks, 64, of Orma, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at The Arbors, Marietta, Ohio.
He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Iras B. and Cora Rinehart Hicks. He was a member of Milo Methodist Church and was employed by Houchin Construction Co., Arnolds-burg.
Surviving are three children, Mike Hicks and wife Teresa and Timothy Hicks, all of Arnoldsburg, and Lynn Blosser of Orma; seven grandchildren, Mike, Kayla, Ashley, Brittany and Austin Hicks, Cody McCune and Taylor Blosser; three brothers, Edward Hicks and wife Patti, Donald Hicks and wife Pam and Forest Hicks and wife Debra, all of Chloe; and four sisters, Francis Waldron of Davisville, Sue Sampson and husband Lyle of Mineral Wells, Patricia Siers and husband Dannie of Chloe and Margaret Lantz and husband Phil of Mt. Clare.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene and Jarrett Hicks, and two sisters, Gwendolyn Simmons and Mary Hicks Parsons.
Graveside memorial services will be held Saturday, Feb. 11, 10 a.m., at Clark Jarvis Cemetery, Chloe, with Rev. Roger Carter officiating. Arrangements made by Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg.

Corene Hicks died Sunday, Apr. 14, 2002, at Selby Hospital, Marietta, Ohio.
She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Thomas and Verna
Jarvis.
Surviving are five daughters, Gladys Forshey, Janice Lowther and Ann Davis, all
of Waverly, and Glennis Blevins and Dorothy Duncan, both of Akron, Ohio; one
son, Dallas Jarvis of Rudolph, Ohio; her good friend, Pete Harness; 22
grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Hicks; two Sons, Charles Hicks
and Eugene Hicks; one grandson, Roger Hicks; and longtime companion, Ingle
Hendershot.
Services were scheduled Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Ruttencutter-Ingram Funeral Home,
St. Marys, with Randy Stewart officiating, and burial in Willow Island Cemetery.

DENVER HICKS
Denver R. Hicks, 93, of Barrackville, died Friday, Nov. 12, 2004, in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg.
He was born at Mud Fork, the son of the late William and Nora Jane Moss Hicks.
He was employed at Grant Town mine and by Bethlehem Steel at Mine 41 in Barrackville, where he retired in 1972 with more than 25 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Crotan. He was a former member of Pennsboro and Fairmont Eagles clubs, life member of VFW, Fairmont, and member of UMWA, District 31.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Dora E. Shaver Hicks, whom he married July 1, 1939; one granddaughter, Sheila Sleeth of Washington, with whom he and his wife resided during the past year; two great-grandsons; one brother, Ralph Hicks of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Sue Graham of Charleston and Marie Hunt of Valricko, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews, including two nieces who helped care for him over the past few years, Dotty Payton and Jerry Sue Cox.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Hester Teets; two brothers, Waitman Hicks and Bruce Hicks; and three sisters, Arlene, Cora and Roxie.
Services were held at Monumental United Methodist Church, Fairmont, with Rev. Scott Ingleton officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, where Marion County Veterans Color Guard accorded full military honors.

Eugene D. Hicks, 72, of Arnoldsburg, died Thursday, July 11, 2002, in Minnie
Hamilton Health Care Center.
He was born in Roane County, the son of Rosie Falls Hicks of Arnoldsburg and the
late Earl Hicks. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a tool
dresser in the oil and gas drilling industry. He was a member of VFW Post 5959,
Grantsville.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Arlena Stump Hicks; two sons,
Harles Eugene Hicks of Spencer and Edward D. Hicks of Arnoldsburg; one
step-daughter, Loraine Bailey of North Carolina; two brothers, Dayton Hicks of
Orma and James Hicks of Mt. Zion; two sisters, Loetoa Lienhen of Newark, Ohio,
and Mary Hicks of Gassaway; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Carl Marks

Harvey Gene Hicks, 69, of Chloe, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at Charleston Area Medical Center.
He was the son of the late Roscoe and Malinda "Belle" King Hicks and was a retired timber and construction worker and a farmer.
Surviving are his companion of 23 years, Wanda Richards of Chloe; three daughters, Barbara Hammack of Spencer, Wanda Helsinger of Ronceverte and Genie Hicks of Chloe; one son, Justin "Craig" Hicks of Spencer; six grandchildren; two brothers, Robert King of Chloe and Julius Hicks of Ravenna, Ohio; and three sisters, Patsy Sears of Chloe, Bertha Gandy of Sandyville and Anna Bingham of Ravenna.
He was preceded in death by one son, Robert "Eugene" Hicks; one sister, Betty Hicks; and one brother, Everett Hicks.
