ELLEN LAFFERRE
Ellen J. Lafferre, 79, of Harrisville, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at the residence of her daughter, Jackie Webber.
She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Jerry and Ora Vankirk King. She was a newspaper columnist and a former realtor, and a member of American Legion.
Surviving are two sons, Jim Mullen of Parkersburg and Bill Lafferre of Toronto, Canada; three daughters, Connie Shutts of Parkersburg, Jackie Webber of Harrisville and Judy Abbas of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two sisters, Goldie Campbell of Belpre, Ohio, and Mary Ide of Columbus, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Chasidy Edwards.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Lafferre; two sisters, Ethel Clark and Icy Hudson; five brothers, Lee, Lester, Lloyd, Lantie and Bob King; and one great-granddaughter.
Services were scheduled Monday, 11 a.m., at Vaughan Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Pat Hoover officiating, and burial in Evergreen North Cemetery.

Brenda Louise Lamb, 43, of Parkersburg, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002, in Parkersburg.
She was the daughter of General Hartford Lamb and the late Callie Katherine Sears Drake.
Surviving are three sons, Arland G. McCartney, Jason E. McCartney and Eric S. McCartney, all of Parkersburg; six brothers, Billy G. Lamb, Robert D. Lamb and Ray Keith Lamb, all of Duck, William G. Neeley of Nicut, Roger D. Lamb of Grantsville and Bernard Lee Lamb of North Carolina; three sisters, Linda Boggs, Rosemary Brady and Ann Brady, all of Duck; and two grandchildren.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Carl C. Eastern officiating. Burial was in Morefork Cemetery, Big Otter.

Creed Lamb, 92, of South Charleston, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at Thomas Memorial Hospital, Charleston.
He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Dr. C.R. and Nannie Conley Lamb. He was retired from FMC with 40 years of service. He was a member of South Charleston Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife, Halcie M. Deel Lamb; one son, Ronald Lamb of Ludington, Mich.; two grandchildren; one brother, James C. Lamb of St. Albans; and three sisters, Losie Dye and husband Howard of Chloe, Hazel Christian of Gauley Bridge and Macel Snyder of Scottsdale, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Gertrude Groggs, Ruby Finley, Nelle Downey and Goldie Rice, and one brother, Clifford Lamb.
Services were held at Good Shepherd Mortuary, South Charleston, with Minister Louis Watts officiating. Burial was in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

GENERAL LAMB
General H. Lamb, 73, of Nebo, Clay County, West Virginia, passed away August 4, 2007 at Laural Nursing and rehabilitation Center at Big Otter.
He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Ollie Hall. He was a retired timberman.
Surviving are five sons, Roger Lamb of Grantsville, Robert Lamb of Nicut, Keith Lamb of Hallburg, Billy lamb of Elmira and Joe Lamb of North Carolina; 2 daughters, Rosemary Duffield of Ovapa, and Ann Lamb of Duck; a brother, Russell Hall of Charleston; 2 sisters, Evelyn Sears and Naomi Metheney both of Floe; caregiver and granddaughter Tracy Cottrell and her husband Jason of Nebo; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Lamb.
Stump Funeral Home of Arnoldsburg is in charge of arrangements. Graveside services were held at Green Cemetery at Nebo. with Rev. Darius Arnold officiating.

HALCIE LAMB
Halcie M. Lamb, 92, of South Charleston, died Wednesday, Mar. 12, 2008, in Ludington Woods Care, Ludington, Mich.
She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Okie Deel and Ivy Postalwaite Deel Helmick.
She was a 1936 graduate of Calhoun County High School. She was a retired sales clerk from Sears, Roebuck and Co., and was a member of South Charleston Church of Christ.
Surviving are one son, Ronald Lamb of Ludington; two grandchildren; one sister, Maxine Witte of St. Albans; one stepsister, Darlia Lowe of Massillon, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Creed, and two brothers, Marcel Deel of Pineville and Forest Deel of Mansfield, Ohio.
Services were scheduled Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Good Shepherd Mortuary, South Charleston, with Minister Louis Watts officiating, and burial in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

Charles W. "Bud" Lamp, 81, of Smithville, died Tuesday, Mar. 26, 2002, in Parkersburg.
He was born in McFarland, the son of the late Samuel and Anna Bennett Lamp. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and had been an oil field worker with Allegheny Land and Mineral, Clarksburg, and Loris Swadley Drilling. He was a member of Hardman Chapel, Smithville, and Harris-Ritchie VFW Post 3554.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret M. Stanley Lamp; five sons, Charles "Buddy" Lamp of Ellenboro, Bernard Lamp and David Lamp, both of Harrisville, Roger Lamp of Glendale and Ronald Lamp of Elizabeth; two daughters, Mary L. Richards of Smithville and Anna K. Satterfield of Ellenboro; three brothers, Homer Lamp of Five Forks, Donald Lamp of Kanawha and Roscoe Lamp of Parkersburg; five sisters, Mildred Kontul, Margaret Shelton and Letha Mae Bartow, all of Cleveland, and Florence Swisher and Janet Trembly, both of McFarland; 20 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Sees and Ethel Dalton.
Services were held at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with Rev. Harlan Hodge officiating. Burial was in Ayers Cemetery, Smithville, with military rites by Harris-Ritchie Post 3554.

Rayanna Louise Lancaster, 27, of Harrisville, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at The Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio.
She was the daughter of Homer R. and Barbara A. Snider Wilson of Big Springs. She was a teacher and coordinator for family development of Head Start, and was working towards the completion of a master's degree in elementary education. She was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and had been attending Cisco Community Church.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her husband, Chad E. Lancaster of Harrisville; three brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle E. Wilson of Five Forks and Bryan K. Wilson and Mr. and Mrs. Homer R. Wilson II, all of Parkersburg; one brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. David L. Lancaster of Wirt County; and two nieces and three nephews, Kayla, Lucas and Soney Wilson, all of Five Forks, Brooke Lancaster of Wirt County and Kyle Wilson of North Carolina.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Larry Jones officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

RICHARD LANCASTER
Richard (Lanky) Lancaster, 77, of Grantsville, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center.
He was born in Clarksburg, the son of the late Elzie R. and Martha B. Richards Lancaster. He retired from Consolidated Gas Supply in 1983 as assistant superintendent after 37 years of service. He was president and CEO of his own construction company, Lancaster Woodworking, which he started in 1956 and operated with all four sons until 1989 when he turned it over to his sons. He was involved until 1975 in the operation of a local restaurant owned and managed by his wife of 57 years, Ruth Eleanor Lancaster. He and his sons enjoyed working on Victory Baptist Church, where he was a member for 12 years.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Eleanor Gillespie Lancaster; four sons, Joseph Lancaster and wife Sandra, James Lancaster and wife Donna, all of Grantsville, Rev. David Lancaster and wife Linda of Morgantown and Timothy Lancaster of Parkersburg; two daughters, Martha Bennett and husband Bill of Parkersburg and Mary Jenks and husband Raymond of Washington; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Greg Lancaster, wife Traci, sons Jacob and Kaden of Elizabeth; Kyle Lancaster, wife Tracy, daughter Addison of Arnoldsburg; Kevin Lancaster of Newport News, Va.; Allison Bennett of Parkersburg; Chris Jenks of Washington; Amanda Moneypenny, husband David, daughters Morgan and Victoria of Rock Hill, S.C.; Missy Ives, husband Chuck, daughter Dakota of Tucson, Ariz.; David Lancaster II, wife Sarah, daughter Brooke of Munday; and Chad Lancaster of Harrisville; three brothers, Francis Lancaster of Grafton and Jesse Lancaster and Robert Lancaster, both of Luray, Va.; and one sister, Peggy Minear of Nutter Fort.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter-in-law, Rayanna Lancaster.
Services were held at Victory Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Worf and Joe Lancaster officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

EARNEST NEWLON LANE
Earnest Newlon Lane, 89, of Nicut, died Tuesday, Mar. 18, 2008, at Roane General Hospital, Spencer.
He was born at Nicut, the son of the late Jim and Ida Metz Lane. He was a heavy equipment operator on pipeline construction and was a retired member of Operating Engineers Union, Barberton, Ohio.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Jones Lane; four sons, Shirley Gale Lane of Illinois and Jack Lane, Timothy Lane and Larry Lane, all of Nicut; two daughters, Carolyn Sue Gumm of Nicut and Sandra K. Beitz of Williamstown; one brother, Carl Lane of Fairmont; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son and five brothers.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Carl Marks officiating. Burial was in Lane Family Cemetery, Nicut.

Larry Edward "Bud" lane, 66, of Nicut, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, at his home.
He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Ralph and Arlie Harold Lane. He was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church, Nicut.
Surviving are four sisters, Jean Sears of Nicut, Brenda Davisson of Florida, Ruth Morgan of Wisconsin and Nancy Stemple of Arnoldsburg; seven brothers, Denzil Lane of Pennsylvania, William Paul Lane and Everett Lane, both of Nicut, Howard Lane of Orma, Ronnie Lane of Ravenswood, Michael Lane of Florida and Charles Lane of Mississippi; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, James Earl Lane.
Services will be held Friday, 11 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Burial will be in Beech Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Robert M. Lane, 64, of Grantsville, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at St. Joseph Hospital, Parkersburg.
He was born Kalamazoo, Mich., the son of the late Harold and Dorothy Blake Lane. He was a controls engineer for General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler Corp. and was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Surviving are his long-time friend and companion, Iline Compton of Grantsville. He was the last member of his family.
There was no visitation. Private burial will be in Michigan.

Roud Lane, 98, of Nicut, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, at his home.
He was the son of the late James and Ida Metz Lane. He was a retired trucker and farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Hanie Cottrell Lane; two daughters, Maxine Felter of Massillon, Ohio, and Betty Eddy of Lumberton, N.J.; two sons, Russell Fay Lane of Navarre, Ohio, and Roud Lane, Jr., of Bolivar, Ohio; two brothers, Carl Lane of Fairmont and Newlon Lane of Nicut; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-great-grand-children.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph Lane, Hurl Lane, Otha Lane and Ezra Groves.
Services will be held Thursday, 2 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Glenville McBride officiating. Burial will be in Minnora Cemetery. Visitation was scheduled Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

VIRGINIA KING LANE
Virginia King Lane, 38, of Orma, was killed in a car accident on Rt. 16 between Stinson and Chloe, according to State Police reports.
She was the daughter of the late Milton and Linda Sears King. She had been working in Ohio.
Surviving are one daughter, Linda S. King; four brothers, Russell and Roy King of Orma, Doy King of Nettle and Thomas King of Akron; and four sisters, Eula Cottrell of Markleysburg, Pa., Mrs. Gothel Bishop of Sand Fork, Mrs. James Comley of Loraine, Ohio, and Gay King of Orma.
Services were held at Fairview Methodist Church, near Nicut. Burial was in King Cemetery.

Surviving are her husband of 39 years, Stanley Lapchynski; one daughter, Susan Reese of Cleveland, Ohio; two sons, Charles of Lansing, Mich., and Douglas of Xenia, Ohio; four grandchildren; one sister, Erma June Ruehr of Shalersville, Ohio; and four brothers, Alva Starcher of Doylestown, Ohio, Glen Starcher of Carrollton, Ohio, Claude Starcher of Hudson, Ohio, and Dan Starcher of Stow, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Hanson and Sarah Starcher of Cremo; one brother, Clyde Starcher; and one grandson, Christopher Joseph Hadacek.

She was the daughter of the late Alexander and Selina Carpenter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Holly; and siblings, Austin, Clarence, Lona Maze, Dene, Jennings and Loie.

William Rymer "Doc" Law, 94, of Grantsville, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007.
He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late James B. and Dale Law. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was owner of Law Hardware, Grantsville, for many years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Grantsville, where he attended Fell Kennedy Sunday School class.
Surviving are four sons, Robert Law and Tom Law and wife Karen, all of Grantsville, and Joe Law and wife Dianne and Bill Law and wife Connie, all of Parkersburg; one sister, Eva Langston of Hendersonville, N.C.; one brother, Jim Law; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elodean Riggs Law; one infant sister; and one brother, Ronzel Law.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Greg Swisher and Deacon Shirley Fitzwater officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery, near Grantsville.

Geneva Robinson Lawson, 88, of Arnoldsburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at the home of her daughter.
She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Gray and Hollie Bailey Robinson. She was a lifelong homemaker and a member of Rosedale United Methodist Church at Rosedale.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Laughlin of Arnoldsburg and Alma Brady of Shock; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Lawson; three sons, Lennis Lawson, Alva Lawson and Hoyt Ben Lawson; and one grandson, Samuel Gray Lawson.
Services were held at Rosedale U.M. Church with Rev. Alva Loyd and Rev. Denzil Lawson officiating. Burial was in Lawson Cemetery, Spruce Fork of Frozen Run, Nicut.

Arizona G. (Peggy) Layfield, 86, of Cairo, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at Parkersburg.
She was born near Big Bend, the daughter of the late Ruben S. and Margaret Jane Conley Richards. She was a member of Cairo Senior Citizens and the former Cairo Christian Center.
Surviving are four sons, Terry, Jim, Jack and Keith Layfield, all of Cairo; two daughters, Carol Stout of Petroleum and Shirley Ash of Elizabeth; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grand-children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Shirley Layfield; one son, Robert P. Layfield; two infant daughters, Gloria Jean and Ellen Sue Layfield; five brothers, Ed, George, Don, Ted and Floyd Richards; and four sisters, Lillian Richards, Esta Givens, Pearl Criss and Leota Richards.
Services were held at Raiguel Funeral Home, Cairo, with Pastor Tim Bell officiating. Burial was in Masonic Memorial Park, Cairo.

Denzil Leach, 80, of Grantsville, died Monday, Apr. 21, 2003, at his residence.
He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Burton and Myrtle Workman Leach. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Hope Gas Co., now Dominion, with 34 years of service as a mechanic. He was a former member of Grantsville Volunteer Fire Dept.
Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Patricia (Peeps) Godfrey Leach; two sons, Bernard Leach of Grantsville and David Leach of Oklahoma; two grandsons, Jessie and Wyatt Leach of Oklahoma; one great-grandson, Logan Leach of Oklahoma; one sister, Melvie Davidson of Barberton, Ohio; and one nephew, Dane Davidson.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita Collins Leach.
Services will be held Thursday, 2 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Carroll McCauley officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, near Grantsville. Visitation was scheduled Wednesday, 6 to 9 p.m., and Thursday, one hour prior to services.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lelah Stump Leach; two sisters, Eulah Harden and Edna Hickman; and three brothers, Burton, Orville and Paul Leach.

Madison Leach of Millstone died suddenly Tuesday evening [23 Jan 1945] of a heart attack.
He was born in Calhoun County, the son of Enoch and Caroline Leach and spent his entire life here.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Burton Leach of Big Springs and Paul and Orval Leach, both of Millstone; three daughters, Elula Harden of Grantsville, Ethel Slider of Mt. Zion and Mrs. Clarence Hickman of Sissonville; six sisters, Nettie Leach and Annie Roberts, both of this county, Merle Gibson of Parkersburg, Marietta Stalnaker of Arnoldsburg, Maggie Mace of Tippecanoe, Ohio, and Ocie Nester of Rayland, Ohio; and one brother, Harley Leach of Barberton, Ohio.
His sister, Roberta Gainer, preceded him in death last Sunday at a Parkersburg hospital (see obituary for Roberta Gainer)

Kathryn S. Leavitt, 82, of Parkersburg, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, at her residence.
She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Clyde Austin and Myrtle Ada Busch Snider. She retired after 25 years of service as office manager for Associated Anesthesiologists. She was a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Parkersburg, an active member of Bonnie White Circle and a charter member of Mu Gamma Chapter of Alpha Iota Sorority.

He was born in Danville, Ky., the son of the late Tommie Bradley. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam. He was a member of Laborers International Union of North America and was a retired employee of the City of Akron, Ohio.
Surviving are one daughter, Tracy Miller of Frametown; three brothers, David Ledford of Live Oak, Fla., and Wayne Simmons and James Ledford of Akron; one sister, Joyce Horn of Watertown, Tenn.; one granddaughter, Brandi Miller of Frametown; one grandson, Josh Miller of Frametown; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tona A. Ledsome, in 1979, and one grandson, Rodney Ledsome.

He was born in Charleston, the son of the late Hal F. and Cybal J. Clevenger Leggett. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and participated in the campaigns of Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a member of VFW Post #8736, Sunbury.
Surviving are four daughters, Rebecca Gentile of Sunbury, Paula Norris of Columbus, Ohio, Laura Snead of Hilliard, Ohio, and Jody Wenger of Centerburg, Ohio; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers.
He was preceded in death by one son, John Patrick Leggett; two wives, Ruth Cadwallender and June Rosaline Romesburg; two brothers; and three sisters.

He was a past commander of VFW Post 6608, Elizabeth, and a member of Marietta Bible Center. He was treasurer for Belpre Senior Citizens.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Helen Davidson Linch; five daughters, Ellen M. Wade and husband Delmas of Grantsville, Edna M. Ferree of Vienna, Edith M. Dresch of Glouster, Va., Goldine R. Hall of Parkersburg, and Dorothy G. Haddox of Belpre; two sons, Charles R. Linch, Jr., of Parkersburg and Robert L. He retired from Smith Transfer and was employed by Marietta Industrial Enterprises, and was a member of the Teamsters Union and Sixth and Washington Streets Church of Christ, Marietta, Ohio.
Surviving are three daughters, Tonya Linville of Pennsboro, Lisa Swisher of Williamstown and Stephanie Kennedy of Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., currently serving in Iraq; one son, John Linville of Millwood; twin brother, Hibbert Linville of Mineral Wells; two sisters, Isabelle Raines of Dunbar and Mae Stout of Mt. Zion; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin Coolidge Linville and William L. (Dick) Linville.

Louie B. Longfellow, 64, of Spencer, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg.
He was born September 17, 1943 in Roane County, the son of the late Hugh and Grace Jarvis Longfellow. He was a retired truck driver.
Surviving are his wife, Christine Nichols Longfellow; four daughters, Melinda Fincher of Houston, Tex., Anita Martin of Reedy, Lisa Chapman of Arnoldsburg, and Deborah Jurkovich of Walton; one son, Christopher Longfellow of Parkersburg; one sister, Edith Graves of South Carolina; one brother, Eugene Mace of California; 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Burial will be in the Chapman Cemetery. Visitation was scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Harold Looney, 77, of Parkersburg, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at his home.
He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Peter and Clara Wright Looney. During World War II and the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was retired as a truck driver for Ralph's Market/Looney Corp. He was a member of United Commercial Travelers and American Legion Parkersburg Post 15.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Velma Nutt Looney; one son, Steven R. Looney of Waverly; two daughters, Nancy Lee of Dayton, Ohio, and Linda L. Sines of Washington; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; one brother, Ralph Looney of Parkersburg; and one sister, Norma Ketchum of Hockingport, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by one son, Frank Looney in 1997; one brother, Denzil Looney; and three sisters, Mae Hicks, Pauline Boso and Maude Hileman.
Services were held at Kimes Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. David Nutt officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memory Gar4ens. Military rites were conducted .by American Legion Post No. 15.

Dr. Neil A. "Doc" Lothes, 77, of Montrose, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at his home.
He was born in Elkins, the son of the late Edward Augustine Lothes and Mary Margaret "Mame" Scallon Lothes. He was a graduate of Elkins High School, Shenandoah College of Virginia and University of Richmond School of Dentistry. He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy and a veteran of World War II and Korean War. He was a dentist in Elkins and Parsons for 39 years and was a farmer. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Parsons, and Knights of Columbus Council 2010, Thomas.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Yvonne McCoy Lothes; seven daughters, Rebecca Sue Miller (and husband Arlis Miller) of Grantsville, Deborah Lee Scarberry of Montrose, Mary Regina Oldaker of Kerens, Patricia Von "Trish" Miller of Hagerstown, Md., Jennifer Lynn Hall and Cathy Louise Lothes, both of Charleston, and Teresa Elizabeth Weaver of Clarksburg; three sons, Edward Reeder Lothes of Parkersburg, Neil Joseph Lothes of St. Albans and George Anthony Lothes of Montrose; 32 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by one infant daughter, Ann Cecile, and four brothers, Charles E., Wilfred J., Harry and John Desmond Lothes.
Services were held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church with Rev. Father Lino Ebejer as presider. Burial was in Lothes Family Cemetery, Lothes Family Farm, Montrose, where full military rites were conducted.

Mary M. Lott, 82, of Stow, Ohio, died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005.
She was a lifetime resident of Stow. She had been employed for 18 years at Eddy's Bike Shop and was a member of Stow Sunshiners, where she was an active bowler.
Surviving are her husband of 50 years, William W. Lott; one daughter, Janet Ritterbeck and husband Larry of Akron, Ohio; two sons, Frank Justice and wife Mildred of Arnoldsburg and Harold Justice and wife Shirley of Stow; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Louise Worcester; one brother, James R. Cox; and one granddaughter, Theresa Justice.
Services were held at Redmon Funeral Home, Stow. Burial was in Stow Cemetery.

Surviving are her husband, Harold W. Lott, whom she married Aug. 1, 1950; two sons, Harold Lott and Randy Lott, both of Ravenna; one daughter, Linda Gibson of Ravenna; eight grand-children; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Harold Bell of Smithville and Bud Bell of Ravenna.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Mark Gibson; one great-grandson, Malachi M. Treadwell; and 11 brothers and sisters.

Wyona Churl Lott, 71, of Ravenna passed away Monday January 28, 2008 at her residence.
She was born March 2, 1936 in Big Bend, WV to the late Lawrence and Dolly (Dawson) Bell. She has lived in Ravenna since 1967 and was a member of the Free-Will Baptist Church and being a devoted homemaker, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Harold W. Lott, whom she married August 1, 1950, sons Harold Lott, Randy (Beth) Lott and daughter Linda Gibson all of Ravenna, grandchildren Mike (Mindy) Gibson, Michelle (James) Dick, Matt (Dawn) Gibson, Renee Lott, Kelly Lott, Angie Stevenson, Rachel Lott, Jason Lott, great-grandchildren Cory, Malorie, Meagan, Marcus, Chelsea Gibson, Aleya Maria and Thurman Lee Teadwell III. Brothers Harold (Ruth) Bell of Smithville, WV and Bud (Cindy) Bell of Ravenna.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by grandson Mark Gibson and great-grandson Malachi M. Treadwell and 10 brothers and sisters.
Calling hours will be 5-8- PM Wednesday at the Shorts Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel where funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday January 31, 2008. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery Ravenna, Ohio.

She was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and Potomac State College and retired from Bureau of Public Debt. Surviving are her husband, Donald E. Lowe; one daughter, Susan Jaye of Nuys, Calif.; one granddaughter; and two sisters, Evelyn Parsons of Vienna and Mary Henry of Williamstown.
Services were held at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Roger Vernick officiating.
Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery North.

Rev. Morris Pembroke Lowe, 76, of Spencer, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1948.
He was born in Roane County, the son of the late Clark Lowe and Sarah Jane Camp Lowe of near Spencer. He was a former pastor of Grantsville Baptist Church and other churches in Calhoun County. He was ordained to the ministry in 1901 and had been pastor of 14 churches. Usually, he was pastor of several churches at one time.
He was pastor of Flat Fork Church, Roane County, for 29 years; Rush Creek Church, 11 years; Bethel Church, nine years; Little Creek Church, 16½ years; Mt. Olive Church, 18 years; Bays Chapel, seven years; Banner Church, two years; Grantsville Baptist Church, three years; Brooksville, three years; Sycamore, five years; Arnoldsburg, three years; Two Run, six years; Reedy, six years; and Triplett, two years.
Surviving are his wife, Lillie Bird Valentine Lowe; six daughters, Ethel Reger, Lona McKown and Anna West, all of Spencer, Dorsey West of Parkersburg, Chelsie Rowh of Akron, Ohio, and Lina Starkey of New Philadelphia, Ohio; one son, James Lee Lowe of Spencer; one sister, Mrs. Elton Davis of Spencer; one brother, Robert Lowe of Spencer; 14 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.
Services were held at First Baptist Church, Spencer, with Rev. Gordon L. Withers officiating. Burial was in Spencer Cemetery.

Genevieve (Granny Prue) Morgan Ludwig, 96, of Camp Barbe Road, Wirt County, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, in Ravenswood Care Center.
She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Elihue (Hugh) and Lillie Laughlin Morgan. She was a former member of the Baptist Church at Liberty Hill. After moving to Wirt County, she attended Beulah Hill Presbyterian Church for more than 25 years and later attended Elizabeth Nazarene Church.
Surviving are one son, Chester Ludwig of Elizabeth; one grandson, Mark Ludwig of Elizabeth; one granddaughter, Suellen Calebaugh of Elizabeth; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death-by her husband, McKinley (Mack) Ludwig, in 1975; four brothers, Victor Morgan, Harley Morgan, Ernest Morgan and Charley Morgan; and one sister, Ethel Strong.
Services were scheduled Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Busch Funeral Home, Elizabeth, with Rev. Robert Stanley officiating, and burial in Knights of Pythias Cemetery, Elizabeth.

DUDLEY LUTZ
Dudley Lutz, 67, died of a heart attack on Oct. 16, [1944]. He was chief of police at Grantsville for the past 18 years. He and H.H. Haynes of the State Police were on a mission before daylight that morning and had just left the car and were walking into a field near the Barr schoolhouse, one mile from Grantsville, when death occurred.
He was born in Parkersburg, the son of the late Balser and Jane Lutz. He had traveled extensively, having made two trips to Venezuela, South America, where he worked for Standard Oil Co. of New Jersey. He was known for the active part he took in encouraging the growth and development of industry at Grantsville. He operated a shoe shop at Grantsville for a number of years, along with his police duties. He had been a member of the Methodist Church at Grantsville for 25 years.
Surviving are his wife, Mollie Kelley Lutz, whom he married in 1906; two sons, Cpl. Tommy Lutz of Panama and Sgt. David Lutz of Hawaii; three daughters, Mrs. O.L. Atkinson of Grantsville, Mrs. T.S. Waldo of Gauley Bridge and Pauline Lutz at home; two sisters, Mrs. William Affolter and Mrs. Lawson Carter, both of Parkersburg; one brother, George Lutz of Parkersburg; and one half-brother, John McKeag of Parkersburg.
Rev. Harold Grandstaff of the local Methodist church and Rev. Clifford Phillips of Elizabeth Methodist Church conducted last rites in the home. His tribute was carried by loudspeaker to a large group of friends gathered on the streets outside the home. Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery, near Grantsville.

She was born in Big Springs, the daughter of the late J.C. and Pearl Norman Richards.
Surviving are one daughter, Barbara Wilson of Big Springs; two sons, Lyle Dennis Snider of East Lake, Ohio, and Michael Lynch of Cleveland, her caretaker; seven grandchildren, Lyle, Bryan and Homer II Wilson, Dennis and Tim Snider, Jamie Muniz and Tonya Ratliff; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Eldine Wilson of Parkersburg; and one aunt, Bernadine Braham of Parkersburg.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dennis Snider; her second husband, Norman Lynch; two granddaughters, Darla Dee Snider and Rayanna Louise Lancaster; and one brother, Clyde Richards.
Services were held at Community Gospel Tabernacle, Cleveland, with Rev. Billy Ray Lambert officiating. Burial was at Big Springs.

He was born in Lenoir, N.C., the son of the late Albert and Pearl Lynch. He retired from Local 47, Window Cleaning Union, where he worked as a high-rise window cleaner for 35 years. He worked at Erieview Towers for 15 years. He was a member of Aspinwall Church of God.
Surviving are his former wife, Ernestine; three sons, Michael Norman, Robert Dale and Michael Delyn Lynch; one step-son, L. Dennis Snider; one step-daughter, Barbara A. Wilson of Big Springs; one brother, Neil Lynch of Lenoir; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren, including two step-granddaughters of Big Springs; three great-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two step-grandchildren.
