CLAUDETTE NAYLOR
Claudette "Claudia" Vincent Naylor, 63, of Belpre, Ohio, died Friday, Mar.
30, 2001, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was a member of Lauckport United Methodist Church and its Women's
Circle, and worked for Bobier TV in the hospital and as a cashier at
Wal-Mart.
Surviving are her husband, Lewis "Lew" A. Naylor; two sons, Ronald Dale
Naylor of Union City, Tenn., and Stephen Lewis Naylor of Parkersburg; three
grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three sisters, Imogene Sims of
Parkersburg, Janet "Jan" Brookover of Vienna and Karen Jarvis of
Gerrardstown; and two sisters-in-law, Ollidine Hall of Arnoldsburg and Edna
Kingsbury of Grantsville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Phillip and
Richard Vincent.
Services were held at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, with Rev. Roy Knight
officiating. Burial was in Rockland Cemetery.

Irene E. Naylor, 72, of Arnoldsburg, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at Camden-Clark
Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg.
She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Dewey and Elva Slider
Naylor. She was retired from Hanes Knitwear Co. and was a member of Reynolda
Presbyterian Church, Winston-Salem, N.C.
Surviving are one daughter, Vickey Naylor Shelby of Clemens, N.C.; one brother, Lewis
Naylor of Belpre, Ohio; one sister, Ollidene Hall of Arnoldsburg; and three
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Dale Naylor and Eugene Kingsburg,
and one sister, Byrnadeen Naylor.
Services were scheduled Wednesday, 11:30 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg,
with Evangelist Corley Miller officiating. No visitation was scheduled.

CHARLES NEAL, SR.
Charles Neal, Sr., 73, of Nicut, died Friday, August 10, 2007 at Minnie Hamilton Health System, Grantsville.
He was born in Maryland, the son of the late Nimrod and Roseletta Unglesbee Neal. He was a US Army veteran and was plant manager in the chemical industry in Baltimore.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Jane Neal; three daughters, Virginia Neal of Nicut; Peggy Goodrow of Grafton, WV, Linda Coursey; three sons, Charles Neal, Jr., Anthony (Tony) Neal and Robert Neal all of Baltimore; a brother, William (Rody) Neal of Nicut; three sisters, Patsy Kowalevicz, Dolly Keese and Toots Scott all of Baltimore; 21 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Citro, mother-in-law, Vivian Bradford (Meadows) and one grandson Robert (Robbie) Neal.
A memorial service was held at the family residence at Nicut at 12-noon Monday, August 13.

Marjorie Snider Neale, 74, of Parkersburg, died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Clyde Austin and Myrtle Busch Snider.
She was a 1944 graduate of Wirt County High' School and a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was a former employee of Dils Brothers Dept. Store and retired from Mahone Tire Co. after 32 years of service. She was a former member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority.
Surviving are her husband, Tom Neale of Parkersburg; one son, Steven Neale of Riverside, Calif.; one brother, Clyde A. Snider, Jr., of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; three sisters, Violet Elliot of Mineral Wells, E. Virginia Schaefer of Parkersburg and Barbara Riggs of Vienna; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Harold E. "Pete" Snider; one sister, Kathryn Leavitt; and one infant brother.
Services were held at First Presbyterian Church, Parkersburg, with Rev. George B. Spransy, Jr., officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Goldie Nelson, 71, of Cleveland, Ohio, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, in
Cleveland.
She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Jack and Daisy Taylor
Richards.
Surviving are three sons, Michael Nelson of North Carolina, Robert Nelson of
Euclid, Ohio, and Anthony Nelson of Eastlake, Ohio; two daughters, Diane Murray
of North Carolina and Vanessa Kiss of Geneva, Ohio; one sister, Marie Hissem; 12
grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Spruce Hollow Community Church with Rev. Charles Shafer
officiating. Burial was in Taylor Cemetery, Big Bend.

Harold C. Nelson, 74, of Vincent, Ohio, died Wednesday morning, November 6, in Selby General Hospital in Marietta.
He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Harvey and Anna Morton Nelson. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a retired carpenter, a member of Russell Chadwick Post No. 389, American Legion, and the Carpenters Local No. 200 in Columbus, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Robinson Nelson; three sons, Ronald L. Nelson of Midlland, Texas, Rodney D. Nelson of Circleville, Ohio, and Rocky J. Nelson of Vincent, Ohio; four grandchildren; three brothers, W. V. Nelson of Ravenna, Ohio, John C. Nelson of St. Genevieve, Mo., and Warren I. Nelson of Vincent, Ohio; one sister, Olive Piggott of Davisville, W.Va.
Services were held Saturday, Nov. 9th at the McClure-Shafer Funeral Home in Marietta,with the Rev. Edward Bach officiating. Burial was in the Woodruff Cemetery, Barlow,Ohio with military rites.

HARVEY NELSON
Harvey Nelson, 83, a retired farmer, was found dead at his home, 613 Charles St., about 10:30 a.m. today by members of his family. The coroner was to view the body, but death was apparently due to natural causes. Mr. Nelson had suffered from a heart condition.
He was born Feb 21, 1885, a son of the late Amos and Margaret Collins Nelson. He was married to Indiana Morton, who died Feb 6, 1959.
Four sons and two daughters survive: William C. of Cleveland, Harold C. of Columbus, John C. of St. Genevieve, Mo, Warren I. of Wintersville, Mrs. Mary Fortney of Marietta, and Mrs. Olive Piggott of Davisville, W.Va., with 23 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
One son and two daughters, Roy C., Bertha and Elladean, and three brothers and one sister, Wiley, John, Henry, and Bertha Criss, are deceased.
Doudna & McClure Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements, which are incomplete.

Mrs. Harvey Nelson, 75, wife of Harvey Nelson of 613 Charles St., Marietta, died Friday at 3:40 a.m.
Born Mar 17, 1883, at Annamoriah, W. Va, she was a daughter of the late Seth and Mary Goodnight Morton. On Feb 26, 1905, she was married to Harvey Nelson who survives. Her home had been at McFarlan, W. Va., before coming to Washington Co. 30 years ago and she had resided in Marietta for the past 15 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ at Sixth and Washington Sts., and of the Daughters of America.
Survivors in addition to her husband include four sons, William C. Nelson of Cleveland; Harold C. Nelson of Columbus; John C. Nelson of Vincent; and Warren Nelson of Fleming;; two daughters, Mrs. Mary L. Fortney of Belpre and Mrs .Olive L. Piggott of Davisville, W. Va.; 22 grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; three brothers, Guy Morton of Parkersburg, W. Va.; William Morton of Clarksburg,W.Va., and Eddy Morton of Big Springs, W.Va., and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Weaver of Coolville. Three children, Royce, Bertha, and Elladean, are deceased.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 1:30 at the Doudna and McClure Funeral Home with Justus Hesson conducting. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery.

She was born in Clay County, the daughter of the late John and Cora Coen Martin.

Church Women's Auxiliary.

great-grandchildren, Cody, Jacob, Dennis, Alex, Tabitha, Crystal, Dylon, Autumn

She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Maynard (Bill) Nelson; two
brothers, Willis and Homer Martin; three sisters, Grace (Sue) Payne, Audrey
Davis and Inez (Tine) Legg; and one son, Harlan E. Nelson.
Services were held at Mud Fork Union Church, near Chloe, with Rev. Okey Cottrell
and Rev. John Meadows officiating. Burial was in Coen Cemetery.

Warren (Ike) Nelson, 67, of Rt. 1 Fleming, died Saturday in the Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Calhoun County, a son of late Harvey and Indiana Morton Nelson. He lived in Barlow Township for the past 16 years. He was a construction electrician, a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 64, Washington County Post No. 5108 Veterans of Foreign Wars and I.B.E.W. Local No. 972.
He is survived by three sons, Warren Ike Nelson II, of Antioch, Ohio, David Carroll Nelson of Harper's Ferry, W.Va., James Dallas Nelson of Fleming; one daughter, Leslie Joanne Hubacher of Riverdale, Ga; one brother, John C. Nelson, St Genevieve, Miss; one sister, Olive Piggott of Davisville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ruth Rake; two brothers, Lewis and Harold Nelson; one sister, Mary Fortney.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at the McClure-Schafer Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Woodruff Cemetery with military rites.
Friends may call at the funeral home from noon today until hour of service.

William C. Nelson, 77, of 6615 Cleveland Road, Ravenna, died Friday at Robinson Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient two weeks following a long illness.
Mr. Nelson was born June 6, 1909 in Calhoun County, W.Va., the son f Harvey and Anna (Morton) Nelson. He had lived in Cleveland before moving to Ravenna in 1978, and was a retired assembler at the General Motors Corporation, retiring in 1971. He was a member of the Ravenna Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy (Hall), whom he married June 1, 1938; one son, Donald E. of Cleveland; daughters, Mrs. James (Janet) Kelch of Streetsboro, Mrs. Leslie (Joyce) Toth and Mrs. Dewey (Evelyn) Green, both of Kirtland, Miss Mary Nelson at home; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; brothers John of St. Genevieve, Mo, Warren (Ike) of Vincent, Ohio; sister, Mrs. Gilbert (Olive) Piggott of Davisville, W.Va.
Services were at 1 p.m. today in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Graysville, Ohio with the Rev. David Myers of Ravenna officiating.

William Henry Nelson, 84, of Big Bend, died Sunday evening, May 6, at the Sheppard nursing home at Ellenboro after an extended illness.
A reitired farmer, he was born in Calhoun County Dec 9, 1877, son of the late Amos and Margaret Collins Nelson. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Bertha Criss, Big Bend, and a brother, Harvey Nelson, Marietta.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 9 at Stump funeral home in Grantsville with the Rev. N.H. Bartlett officiating. Burial was in Big Bend Cemetery.

Aug. 11, 2002.
She was the daughter of the late David and Alice Kelley of Cain Hill, Gilmer
County, and was the last surviving member of her family. She was a member of
Knotts Memorial United Methodist Church, Grantsville, and Grantsville Chapter
73, Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are one daughter, Nedra Grigg of Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren;
two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husbands, O.R. Griffith and Holly Nester; one
daughter, Alice Ann Adams; four brothers, Tony, Deward, Harlan and Fay Kelley;
and five sisters, Ila Davis, Leota Bush, Jesse Murphy, Pearl Rhoades and Thelma
Curtis.

James Dale Nester, 72, of Charlotte, N.C., died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, at his residence.
He was born in Akron, Ohio, the son of the late Russell Dale Nester and Oma Ester Nitz
Nester. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War and retired from
Goodyear Tire and Rubber after 42 years of service. He served as committee chairman
for Boy Scouts of America 124 and was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Oleva "Fran" Nester of Charlotte; three sons, Stan
Nester of Mint Hill, N.C., and Larry Nester and Barry Nester, both of Charlotte; four

She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late William David and Esta Palmer. She was the oldest of eight sisters and was a homemaker and a cook.
Surviving are one son, Jim Newell of Grantsville; four grandchildren, Shelly Stevens, Kelly Whytsell and Tommy Newell, all of Grantsville, and Michael Newell of Huntington; nine great-grandchildren; five sisters, Alice Ramsey, Leora Mae Kalman and Dola (Dode) Palmer, all of Maryland, Cora Foester of Pennsylvania and Lora (Nell) Hewitt of Michigan; and special friend and caregiver, Audrey (Jeanie) Smith of Mt. Zion.

Tommy William Newell, 80, of Grantsville, died Monday, June 18, in Louis A.
Johnson Veteran's Medical Center, Clarksburg.
He was born in Burnsville, the son of the late Cella and Iva Settles Newell. He
was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in the Air Mail Photo
Division of the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. He was a former chief of police in
Spencer and was a former carpenter. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge,
Grantsville.
Surviving are his wife, Clara Belle Newell; one son, James Newell of
Grantsville; one brother, Jack Newell of Clarksburg; four sisters, Penny, Mary,
Doris, and Faye; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, two brothers, and one sister.
Graveside rites will be held Friday, 2 p.m., at Sand Ridge Cemetery, with Rev.
Cleston Garrett officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted by
Roane County American Legion Post #21. Visitation is on Friday, noon to 1 p.m.,
at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville.

He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Gerald and Maude Schartiger Newell. He was a retired supervisor for Monarch-Teledyne Rubber Co. and attended North Parkersburg Baptist Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Donna Kirk of Mansfield, Ohio; three step-daughters, Pansy Gayheart of Massillon, Ohio, Frances Bolyard of Dexter City, Ohio, and Glenna Hovatter of Thornton; four brothers, Gerald Newell, Jr., and Harry Newell, both of Orma, Donald Newell of Marlboro, Ohio, and Leon Newell of Mogadore, Ohio; two sisters, Emogene Robinson of Tanner and Ellodene Gherke of Pennsylvania; several grandchildren and great-grand-children; and friend and companion, Eloise Sinnett of Vienna.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Newell; two step-sons, Dallas Boyd and Charles Boyd; and one grandson, Randy Bolyard.
Services were scheduled Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Evangelist Corley Miller officiating, and burial in Orma United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation was also scheduled on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Darrell J. Nicholas, 56, of Orma, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005, at home.
He was born at Orma, the son of the late Warren and Delphia Riffle Nicholas. He was a farmer.
Surviving are two brothers, Wesley Nicholas and wife Barbara of Orma and Vance Nicholas and wife Lucille of Orrville, Ohio; one sister, Esther Wilson and husband David of Grantsville; and special friend and companion, Sharon Sue Shaffer.
He was preceded in death by one infant brother.
Graveside services were held at Conley Cemetery, Bear Run, Orma.

Doy D. Nicholas, 85, Of Orma, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005, at his home.
He was born near Orma, the son of the late Walter and Dora Nicholas Cottrill. He was a farmer and timberman and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Orma.
Surviving are his wife, Rena Groves Nicholas; two sons, Robert Nicholas and Junior McCumbers, both of Orma; and one brother; Ronzel Nicholas of Orma.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Alma Collins and Anna Lee Snyder.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, 1 p.m., at Conley Cemetery, near Orma, with Rev. Carl Marks officiating. Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, is in charge of arrangements.

Eric Glen Nicholas, 32, of Orma and Louisburg, N.C., died Sunday, Mar. 30, in an automobile accident in Franklin County, N.C.
He was the son of Mary B. Nicholas of Orma and the late Earlie Nicholas. He was employed by CTC Construction Co.
Surviving in addition to his mother are two sons, Dylin and Skylar Nicholas of Dunbar; five sisters, Margaret Haynes of Reedy, Sible DeWeese of Orma, Donna Epling of Spencer, Dwanna Carpenter of Cleveland, Ohio, and Regina Falls of Smithville, Ohio; three brothers, Roger McCumbers of Smithville, and George Nicholas and Frederick Nicholas, both of Louisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were-scheduled Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Mark Gerwig officiating, and burial in Orma U.M. Church Cemetery. Visitation was scheduled at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:30 to 2 p.m.

James Nicholas, 57, of Chloe, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, at Charleston Area
Medical Center, Memorial Division.
He was the son of the late John and Elsie Cottrell Nicholas.
Surviving are his wife, Clara Ann Hamrick Nicholas; one son, John Nicholas of
Ravenna, Ohio; three daughters, Kendra Wilmington and Kristin Hefley, both of
Ravenna, and Jean Prinkey of Chloe; one brother, Jessie Ray Nicholas of Ravenna;
two sisters, Opal Roosa of Ravenna and Marieta Smith of charlotte, N.C.; 12
grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister, and a grandson.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Carl Marks
officiating. Burial was in Cottrell Cemetery, White Oak.

She was a homemaker.
Surviving are three daughters, Judy Guthrie of Wilmont, Ohio, Carol Carson of Beach City,
Ohio, and Donna Nicholas of Massillon; four sons, Joseph and Larry Nicholas, both of
Massillon, David Nicholas of Canton, Ohio, Billy Nicholas of Justus, Ohio; one brother,
Chet Heckathorn of Brewster, Ohio; three sisters, Betty Peterson of Canton, Corrine Kohl
of Massillon and Eleanor Bocook of Brewster; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild;
and special friends, Barb Gaut, Tabatha Jankiewiov, Linda Graber and Sue Lilenthal.

Ida Mae Nicholas, 96, of Grantsville, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg.
She was born at Nobe, the daughter of the late, Albert Ross and Ida Mae Church Whipkey, and was a resident of Grantsville for 76 years.
Surviving are four sons, Cleston Nicholas and wife Helen and Ralph Nicholas, all of Grantsville, Charles Nicholas and wife Nina of Harrisville and Phillip Nicholas and wife Sharon of Parkersburg; four daughters, Colleen Burdette and husband Bob of Vienna, Phyllis Belt and husband Raymond of Tucson, Ariz., Sandra Richter and husband Chuck of Freeport and Grantsville and AIta Richards and husband Hobert of Big Springs; 24 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Ralph L. (Swifty) Nicholas; one son, Carroll; three grandchildren; one son-in-law; four sisters; and four brothers.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Robert Nicholas officiating. Burial was in Nobe Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by two infant sisters and one stepdaughter, Wanda Carpenter.

NINA ROSE NICHOLAS
Nina Rose Nicholas, 73, of Harrisville, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at Eagle Pointe Nursing Home, Parkersburg.
She was born in Grantsville, the daughter of the late Bernard V. and Goldie Reip Elliott. She graduated from Calhoun County High School in 1952 and worked as a cook at Harrisville Elementary School for 17 years. She was a member of Harrisville Baptist Church, where she had been a Sunday School teacher, deaconess, and member of the Hand Bell Choir.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Charles A. Nicholas; two daughters, Michelle D. "Shelly" Boyce of Parkersburg and Rebecca Rose Stemple of North Hills; one son, Charles Michael Nicholas of Vienna; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Francis Elliott and an infant, and two sisters, Pauline Husk and Maxine Mattice.
Services were scheduled Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Harrisville Baptist Church, with Pastor Robert Perine officiating, and burial in Harrisville IOOF Cemetery.

Nora B. Nicholas, 66, of Lockney, died Wednesday, July 12, 2006, in Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center.
She was born in Lockney, the daughter of the late Charles O. and Dorothy May Hopkins. She was a private caretaker to elderly people in Calhoun and Gilmer counties. She had previously worked at SunBridge of Glenville.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna Brady of Caldwell and Pam Meadows of Lockney; two sons, Kenneth Schoolcraft of Glenville and Christopher Carafelli of Lockney; one step-sister, Shirley Barnhart of Massillon, Ohio; two step-brothers, Robert and Kenneth Brown, both of Massillon; five grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ninia Wornica and Hazel McCumbers.
Services were held at Rush Run Baptist Church with John Vannoy officiating. Burial was in Turner Cemetery, Lockney.

NYLE WILSON NICHOLAS
Nyle Wilson Nicholas, 79, of Dunbar, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at home.
He was the son of the late Hope Wilson Nicholas and Denver B. Nicholas of Grantsville.
He attended schools in Grantsville and Glenville State College. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, spent nine months in the Naval Hospital in Dublin, Ga., and served aboard aircraft carriers USS Midway and USS Coral Sea. He retired from Liquid Transport, Charleston, and was a member of First Baptist Church, Dunbar, and past master of O'Dell Lodge 115, AF&AM, Grand Lodge of West Virginia.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Doris R. Nicholas; one daughter, Linda Nicholas Smyser of Reston, Va.; two sons, Stephen Nyle Nicholas of Virginia Beach, Va., and Jeffrey Kyle Nicholas of St. Albans; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a very special girl, Breanna.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen Nicholas Fisher, and one great-grandson, Jacob Wade Nicholas.
Services were held at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Rev. Thomas E. Stevens officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery, near Grantsville.

Ralph L. Nicholas, Jr., 70, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, at The Arbors, Marietta, Ohio.
He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Ralph and Ida Whipkey Nicholas. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Grantsville VFW.

Rev. Robert H. "Preacher Bob" Nicholas, 72, of Glenville, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006, at Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown.
He was born in Revere, the son of the late Hoy C. and Pauline Grogg Nicholas. He graduated from Tanner High School and attended Glenville State College. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War from 1953-1955. He was an instructor for W.Va. Baptist Convention School of Christian Studies, served on its executive board and chaired the committee on ministerial standing. He was moderator of Little Kanawha Baptist Association and chaired the committee on evangelism.
He was senior pastor of First Baptist Church, Glenville, and his ministry in Ohio and West Virginia spanned 43 years, during which time, he served as associate pastor of Blackhorse Baptist Church, Ravenna, Ohio, pastor of Chestnut Street Baptist Church, Wadsworth, Ohio, New England Baptist Church, Bethlehem Baptist Church, Enon Baptist Church, Sand Fork Baptist Church, Burnsville Baptist Church, and First Baptist Church, Grantsville, and interim pastor at First Baptist Church, Weston, and Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Mineral Wells.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Eleanor Bell Nicholas; four sons, Robert H. Nicholas II and Kenton Andrew Nicholas, both of Glenville, Eric Warren Nicholas of Cox's Mill and James E. Moore of Cedarville; two sisters, Betty Jo Roberts of Kent, Ohio, and Wilma Weaver of Parkersburg; one brother, Roger D. Nicholas of Snellville, Ga.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday, 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church, Glenville, with Rev. Ken Heiney officiating. Burial will be in Stalnaker Cemetery, Glenville. She was born at Richardson, a daughter of the late Francis M. and Roxie Blosser Connolly.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Nichols and Juanita Bell and her husband, James Bell, all of Grantsville; one sister, Frankie Mowrey of Creston; one brother, Roy Connolly of Davisville, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Arthur Bell and Alan Bell of Grantsville, Holly Bell of Alexandra, Va., Connie Law of Parkersburg, Anita Godfrey of Canal Winchester, Ohio, and Elaina Nicholas of Geneva, N.Y.; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Charleston and Ellen Bowe of Cross Lanes; one sister, Shirley Bacon of Chapel Hill,

She was preceded in death by her husband, M. K. Nichols, in 1996, and one brother,
William Doddrill.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Lucy Nichols; five daughters, Gloria Kendall, Doris Reaser, Sheila Meadows, Charlotte McDonald and Annetta Perry; three sons, Larry, Millard and Garland Nichols; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grand-children.

She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late John and Leatha Lane Mace. She was a beautician in Parkersburg for 43 years and owned and operated Millie's Beauty Shoppe. She was a member of First Christian Church, Parkersburg, and Ladies Oriental Shrine, Parkersburg.
Surviving are one son, Kenneth Nicholson of Belpre; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Junior Mace of Clinton, Ohio, and Darrell Mace of Arnoldsburg; and one sister, Edna Bowers of Spencer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bernie Nicholson, whom she married May 16, 1951; two sisters, Maude Smith and Ruth Mace; two infant brothers; one half-sister, Audrey Midcalf; and one half-brother, Eugene Nutter.
Services were held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Belpre, with Pastor Harvey Greathouse officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Belpre.

Wilma P. Nicholson, 94, of Jacksonville, Fla., died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002.
She was born in Industrial, the daughter of the late Rev, and Mrs. Clyde West.
She graduated from Alderson-Broaddus College, Philippi, with a degree in
education. She taught school in Falling Rock, Kanawha County, and later taught
piano to young residents of Grantsville. She was a member of First Baptist
Church, Grantsville.
Surviving are one son, William of Jacksonville (with whom she resided); two
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jennings; one brother, Leland; and one
sister, Mildred.
Services were scheduled Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville,
with Rev. Bill Taylor officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to

NORTON - Willis N. (Bill) Nolan, 71, died Sept. 15, 1997, at Barberton Citizens Hospital.
He was born in Cuyahoga Falls and was a life resident of the Akron area. Willis was self-employed as a truck driver, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Rittman V.F.W. Post 1610, and a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army.
Preceded in death by son, Larry; brothers, Gaylord, Bob and Jimmy; and sisters, Clara and Winifred, he is survived by wife, Patti; sons and daughters-in-law, Garry and Bonnie of Memphis, Tenn., Michael and Denise of Vienna, W. Va., Marc and Holly of Scottsdale, Ariz.; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Danny Butts of Garland, Texas; stepson, Johnie Kinder of Akron; stepdaughters, Jerri Kinder of Parkersburg, W. Va., Mrs. Vickie Garner of Rockville, Md.; 17 grand-children, six great-grandchildren; brother, Frank of Florida; numerous nieces and nephews.

Arnold Ray Norman, 83, of Orma, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2006, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston.
He was born at Beech, the son of the late Isaac Homer and Lula Brannon Norman. He was a farmer and attended Fairview Union Church.
Surviving are one brother, Orville Norman of Orma; one sister, Pearl Conrad of Orma; one aunt, Zadia Greathouse of Richwood; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bunker Norman, Isaac Homer Norman, Jr., and William Norman, and three sisters, Murl Norman, Irene Norman and Ona Helmick.
Services will be held Friday, 3 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Burial will be in Norman Family Cemetery, Beech. Visitation will be Friday, 1 to 3 p.m., at the funeral home.

Bessie L. "Tootsie" Norman, 81, of Parkersburg, died Sunday, June 4, 2006, in the Willows of Parkersburg.
She was born in Gilmer County, the daughter of the late Frank and Olga L. Kennedy Norman. She was a former employee of Rubber Fabricators and was a childcare giver to many. She was a member of Lower Steer Run Baptist Church, Normantown.
Surviving are two step-children, Michael Norman of Parkersburg and Carolyn Emrich of Belpre; two sisters, Mary Wilmoth and. Frances Chadwell, both of Normantown; five step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 14 years, Edison Norman, in 1986; one step-son, Gary Norman; two sisters, JoAnn Huff and Margaret Ruth Turner; and two brothers, Jack and Ewing James.
Services were scheduled Wednesday, 10 a.m., at Lower Steer Run Baptist Church, with Elder Mark Minney officiating.

Edna Lambert Norman, 88, of Stumptown, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at her home.
She was born at Gip, the daughter of the late William H. and Kate Lynch Lambert. She

Surviving are three sons, Lacy Brooks Norman of Aurora, Ohio, Jerry Norman of
Norton, Ohio, and Kenneth Dale Norman of Shock; four daughters, Lela Keim of
Hyndman, Pa., Glenna Miller of Normantown and Kate Miller and Patty Miller, both of
Windham, Ohio; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; three great-great-

She was preceded in death by her husband, E.C. "Eck" Norman, in 1983; one daughter,
Nina Jean; one grandson, Chad Norman; four brothers, Fred, Ernest, Charley and Lee

Carmel Baptist Church and joined Bethlehem Baptist Church when she moved to
Grantsville.
Surviving are her husband since 1903, John Norman; one brother, and 11 nieces
and nephews.
Services were held in the home by Rev. M.P. Lowe and at Steer Run Baptist Church
by Rev. Whitt Stump. Burial was in Orton Cemetery on her old home farm.

Bessie P. Nutter, 78, of Fleming, Ohio, passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, at
Muskingum Valley Nursing Home in Beverly, Ohio. Bessie was born March 16, 1929,
in Rocksdale, W.Va., to the late Ralph and Emma Craddock Sampson.
She is survived by one daughter, Dianna (Pete) Wallace of Fleming, Ohio, and
one son, Dennie Nutter of Reedsville, Ohio; three granddaughters, Cassie Nutter
of South Carolina, Tammy Wallace (Joe) Thomas and their children, Braden Sheppard
and Jasmine Thomas of Fleming, Ohio, and Melissa Piatt (Tim) Morris and their
daughter, Alexandria Morris, of Kilbuck, Ohio; two grandsons, Kevin Wallace and

"Washington County Man Tractor Victim"
COMMODORE B. NUTTER
Commodore Nutter, 69, of Fleming, Rt 1, Washington County, O., a school
teacher for many years and a brother of O.J. Nutter of Vienna, was
killed shortly after 9 a.m. yesterday when a tractor he was operating on
his sons farm overturned, pinning him beneath it.
Washington County Sheriff Richard Ellis said the fatal accident
occurred as Nutter and G. W. Richards, also of Fleming, Rt. 1, were
building a line fence between their two properties. The Warren Twp.
volunteer rescue squad rushed the victim to the Marietta Memorial
Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The victim was born at Rocksdale, W.Va on May 11 1896, a son of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Nutter. He married Leota Kerby, who died in
1957.
Mr. Nutter had lived in Calhoun County, W.Va. before coming to Warren
Twp. nine years ago. He had been a public school teacher for 35 years
and since his retirement had been engaged in farming. He was a member
of the Warren Chapel Methodist Church. One son and one daughter
survive, Deo Nutter of Fleming Rt 1 and Mrs. Genevieve Ludlow of
Columbus. There are five grandchildren. One brother and two sisters
survive. O.J. Nutter of Vienna, W.Va; Mrs Effie Tucker of Belpre; and
Mrs. Eva Sampson of Coolville. *Three brothers preceded him in death.
The body is at Doudna & McClure Funeral Home in Marietta.

He was born June 11, 1926, in Rocksdale W.Va., to Commodore B. and Leota Kerby Nutter. He retired as a crane operator for Dravo Corp. He was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 168, Marietta, and had attended Souls Harbor Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bessie Sampson Nutter, whom he married June 20, 1947; one daughter, Dianne Wallace and her husband Pete, of Fleming Route 1; one son, Dennie Nutter of Reedsville; three granddaughters, Cassie Nutter of Reedsville, Tammy Wallace Sheppard and her husband Eric of Parkersburg and Melissa Piatt Morris and her husband, Tim, of Killbuck; two grandsons, Kevin Wallace of Troy, and Doug Piatt and his wife Vicky of Marietta; and one sister, Genevieve Powell of Marietta.

He was born Nov. 27, 1899, in Calhoun County W.Va., a son of the late Charles C. and Nancy Mitchell Nutter. On April 4, 1920 he married Ruth Everson.
His wife survives with one son and one daughter, Leeman Nutter of St. Albans, W.Va. and Mrs Rachel Benedict of the home.
Two children are deceased, Rex Nutter and Forest Nutter who was a casualty of World War II. There are three grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters survive, O. J. Nutter of Vienna, C. B. Nutter of Fleming; Mrs Ellie Tucker of Oakland, Md.; and Mrs Eva Sampson of Belpre.
Mr. Nutter was a farmer. He came to Belpre in 1949. He was a member of the Walnut Grove Methodist Church at Rocksdale W.Va. and of Cremo Lodge No. 202, Knights of Pythias.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Warren Chapel Methodist Church with Rev. and Mrs Charles Wilkinson officiating. Burial will be in the Warren Chapel Cemetery. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Asa and Anna
