DONALD O'BRIEN, JR.

Donald M. O'Brien, Jr., 61, of Spencer, died Sunday, May 26, 2002, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Spencer, the son of the late Donald M. and Peggy Starcher O' Brien, Sr., and grandson of the late Hanson and Sarah Starcher of Cremo. He was maintenance supervisor at W.Va. Dept. of Administration, Parkersburg, and had 41 years of service for the State of West Virginia. He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Spencer.

Surviving are his wife, Sue O'Brien; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald M. and DeAnna O'Brien III of Parkersburg; one stepdaughter, Jessica Haught of Spencer; two step-grandchildren, Nicholas and Tabitha; and his mother-in-law, Pauline Davis of Spencer.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice O'Brien, in 1982.

Services were conducted at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. Garry L. Bowen officiating. Burial was in Spencer Memorial Cemetery.

CARROLL OFFUTT

Carroll Ray Offutt, 61, of Villa Rica, Ga., died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2000.

He was born at Mt. Zion, the son of Orda C. Offutt of Creston, Ohio, and the late Robert Offutt. He was a maintenance supervisor for Owens Corning and was a member of First Baptist Church, Grantsville, Ga.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Ann R. Offutt; two sons, Carroll R. Offutt, Jr., of Grantsville, Ga., and Andy Hart of Mableton, Ga.; two daughters, Tammy Macfie of Winston, Ga., and Angel Ray of Douglasville, Ga.; two half-brothers, Darrell Offutt of Brunswick, Ohio, and Dave Offutt of Circleville, Ohio; two sisters, Roberta Wilson of Big Springs and Opal Thompson of Wooster, Ohio; two half-sisters, Jean Harold of Charleston and Charlene Amick of New Jersey; and five grandchildren.

Services were held at Rosehaven Funeral Home, Whitley-Garner, with Rev. Jerris Flowers officiating. Burial was in Rosehaven Cemetery.

DEWARD OFFUTT

Deward L. Offutt, 83, of Millstone, died Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004.

He was born in Calhoun County near the farm where he spent his life, the son of the late Arthur and Etta Whytsell Offutt. He was a graduate of Calhoun County High School, Class of 1940. He served in World War II from 1942-1946 in the South Pacific and in the reserves from 1946-1949. He was retired from Hildreth Oil & Gas and Kingsbury Oil & Gas. He served 45 years on the Little Kanawha Soil Conservation District Board as a supervisor and on the RC&D Board. He was one of the original founders of West Fork Community Action and helped with the organization of the West Virginia Molasses Festival. He served as a county com-missioner from 1967-1975. He was a member of Louisa Chapel Arnoldsburg U.M. Church for 70 years, and most recently attended Sand Ridge U.M. Church.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Byrnadeen Offutt; one son, D. Lention Offutt and wife Karen of Elizabeth; one daughter, Sherlene Conley and husband Kenny of Millstone; three grand-daughters, Melissa and Sarah Offutt and Hannah Conley; and one sister, Delma Kemper of Millstone.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, and one brother, Denver Offutt.

Services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Rick Swearingen and Rev. Cleston Garrett officiating. Burial will be in Sturm Cemetery, Millstone. Visitation was scheduled Wednesday, 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Camden-Clark Housecalls Hospice, West Fork Community Park, or Sand Ridge U.M. Church.

OLLIE OFFUTT, SR.

Ollie Offutt, Sr., 96, of Canton, Ohio, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Altman Hospital, Canton.

He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Miles Emory and Josie Brannon Offutt. He had been a resident of Canton for 50 years and was retired from Timken Corp., Canton. He attended Grace Cathedral, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

Surviving are two sons, Ollie Offutt, Jr., of Parkersburg and Bernard Offutt of Sandyville; one daughter, Glennis Simmons of Canton; one brother, Denver Offutt of Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great- granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Garrett Offutt; three brothers; and three sisters.

Services were scheduled Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Cleston Garrett officiating, and burial in Sand Ridge Cemet

Orda Mae Offutt, 93, of Creston, Ohio, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, at Smithville-Western Care Center.

She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Okey and Myrtle Jarvis Conley.

She had retired from Nabisco Brands, Seville, Ohio. She was a member of the former Enterprise Baptist Church, Rittman, Ohio.

Surviving are six children, Dave Offutt of Stoutsville, Ohio, Darrell Offutt of Brunswick, Ohio, Charlene Amick of Brick, N.J., Jean Harrold of Dunbar, Robert (Bill) Wilson of Big Springs and Opal "Toots" Thompson of Wooster, Ohio; one grandson whom she raised, John Miller of Creston; two special children, Taylor and Lexie; 22 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Carsie Conley of Chloe; one sister, Oleta Yentz of Wadsworth, Ohio; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Robert Offutt, on Apr. 30, 1980; three sons, Charles, Garrett and Carroll; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four brothers, Ray, Harley, John and Claret; and two sisters, Emil Coen and Mildred Lewis.

Services were scheduled Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Murray Funeral Home, Creston, with burial in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.

Lynn S. Oles Jr., 80, of Tallmadge, reunited with his wife of 49 years, Willa, on April 6, 2004.

Born Dec. 22, 1923, in Grantsville, W. Va., to the late Lynn S. and Grace Oles Sr., he proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Lynn was dedicated to his family and lived a happy and full life.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. He is survived by his devoted children, Anita (Ted) Snyder, David (Loretta) Oles, and Rahn (Adna) Oles; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the NEWCOMER-FARLEY FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. (at Gilchrist Road), where funeral services will be held on Friday, April 9, 2004, at 1 p.m., with Rev. Scott Campbell officiating. Interment at Hill side Memorial Park. Willa F. Oles, 78, passed away March 13, 1997.

Born in Chloe, W. Va., she is survived by husband, Lynn S. Jr.; daughter, Anita (Ted) Snyder of Tallmadge; sons, David (Loretta) of Waldorf, Md., Rahn (Adna) of Tallmadge; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one brother, and one sister.

Jo Ann Olson, 73, of Pike, W. Va., died Monday, July 26, 2004, at her residence after a 10 year battle with Parkinson’s disease.

She was born in Pike, the daughter of the late Fred and Arrahwanna Wilcox Pifer. She was a homemaker and had worked at Phillip’s Pharmacy, St. Marys, for many years. She was very involved in community work and loved helping people. She was a member of Ellenboro Chapter 20 Order of Eastern Star, a member of the Ritchie County Republican Committee, and an officer of Mountaineer Bulk Services, Ellenboro. She had been the oldest living member of Pike Church of Christ.

Surviving are her husband, Charles E. Olson; one daughter and son-in-law, Naresa Jan and Richard L. Cunningham of Sistersville; one sister, Sherrie Channel and husband, Lester, of Grantsville; one grandson, Michael Delancey and wife, Karen, of Fairmont; one stepgrandson, Todd Cunningham and wife, Teresa, of Williamstown; nieces and nephews, Wendy and Kevin Hess of Ripley and Fred and Julie Channel of New Martinsville; special friends, Jennifer Johnson, Lanette Davis and Betty Locke; and her cats, Victoria, Benjamin and Jonathan.

Services were held at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with Evangelist Cecil Dotson officiating. Burial was in Pike Church of Christ Cemetery.

JAMES OSBORNE

James R. Osborne, 64, of Vienna, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at his home.

He was born in Calhoun County, the son of Nila Osborne of Five Forks and the late Carl Osborne. He was a U.S. Army veteran and former resident of Sistersville for 30 years. He was employed at First Federal Savings and Loan and was a retired vice president of Traders Savings and Loan, Parkersburg. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Phoenix Lodge #73, AF&AM, of Sistersville and Nemesis Shrine Temple, Parkersburg.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are three sisters, Judith Gregory of Bristol, Tenn., Doris Campbell of Scott Depot and Barbara Campbell of Big Springs; one brother, Carl R. Osborne of Five Forks; four nephews; one niece; and one great-niece.

He was preceded in death by his wife, R. Fern Osborne.

Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating. Burial was in Canaan Community Church Cemetery, Rock Cave, with Masonic graveside rites.

Martha Jane Osborn, 74, of Cox's Mills, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston.

She was born in Gilmer County, the daughter of the late Asa and Chloe Ellyson Jones. She was a member of Leading Creek Baptist Church, where she served as church clerk and trustee for over 30 years.

Surviving are her husband, Kenneth L. Osborn; one daughter, Betty Jones of Sissonville; one son, Gary Radcliff of Sand Fork; two sisters, Ruth McHenry of Glenville and Mary Brandon of Cox's Mill; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Roscoe Radcliff; one sister, Rosa Marguerite Queen; and four brothers, Claude, Paul, Graydon and Jewell Jones.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, 2 p.m., at Leading Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. Robert Nicholas officiating.

Melissa Gayle Oshoway, 19, of Millstone, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington.

She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of John and Sue Oshoway of Millstone. She was a 2004 graduate of Calhoun County High School and 2004 Prom Queen.

Surviving, in addition to her parents, are one uncle, Rue Brannon and wife Sheila of Pleasant Hill.

She was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Genevieve and Orval Brannon; paternal grandparents, Frank and Florence Oshoway; and one uncle, Delmas Brannon.

Services were held at First Baptist Church, Grantsville, with Rev. Greg Swisher officiating. Burial was in Husk Cemetery.

Virginia Pauline Osterhoudt, 48, of Chloe, died Sunday, Mar. 17, 2002, from injuries received in a two-vehicle accident near Leatherbark.

She was born at Walton, the daughter of Cecil Fields of Chloe and Christine Craft Fields Lupardus of Sandyville. She was a homemaker.

Surviving in addition to her parents are her husband, Douglas Osterhoudt of Chloe; one son, Victor Craft of Olive Branch, Miss.; two daughters, Elesa "Susie" Guenther and Melissia "Wendy" Clearwater, both of Spencer; one step-daughter, Jacke Osterhoudt of Arizona; one step-son, Steven Osterhoudt of Arizona; two sisters, Elizabeth Harper of Spencer and Wanda Cline of Arizona; three brothers, Louis Fields and Winford Fields, both of Spencer, and Donald Fields of Yancyville, S.C.; seven grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Craft; one brother, Glennis Fields; and one granddaughter, Victoria Craft.

Services were conducted at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. Loren Price officiating. Burial was in Billy Hunt Cemetery, Walton.

Thomas B. Owens, 93, of Dearborn, Mich., died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, in Taylor, Mich.

He was born in Doddridge County, the son of the late Wesley and Georgia McKinney Owens. He was a retired welder. He was a member of Eureka Lodge #40, AF&AM, of Grantsville, and Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #565, Parkersburg.

Surviving are one son, David Owens of Dearborn, Mich.; one daughter, Marilyn Scheere of Florida; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wesley Owens, Jr., and Howard Owens, and one sister, Mable Poling.

Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Jim Skedel officiating. Burial was in Freeman Cemetery, West Union, with Masonic graveside rites.

She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Bruce and Ollie M. Webb Cooper. She worked for American Viscose Corp. for approximately 10 years.

Surviving are one daughter, Tina Magruder of Parkersburg; two sons, Bruce F. Owens of Illinois and Earl W. Owens of Pt. Pleasant; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl E. Owens; two daughters, Sharon Limberger and Trena Jordan; three sisters, Geneva Weaver, Avis Edgell and Dorothy Carpenter; and several grandchildren.

Services were held at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, with Pastor Bill Angel officiating. Burial was in Rockland Cemetery.
