WILLIAM PAUL VEROSKO, the son of Frank S. Verosko and Rose (Urbanic) Verosko, was born 10 Dec 1928 at Canonsburg, Washington County, Pennsylvania. His siblings were Mildred "Mimi," born 1922, and Francis "Frank," born 30 Mar 1927.
Rose Urbanic Verosko died in 1939 of Rheumatic Heart Disease. Born in West Virginia in 1903, she was the daughter of John and Mary (Fabini) Urbanic. Rose is buried at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Washington, Pa. Her parents are buried at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Washington County, Pa.
Also buried at St. Patrick's Cemetery, are Bill's grandparents, Francis "Frank" Samuel Verosko, Sr. and his wife, Anna. Their son, Bill's father, Frank Verosko, died in 1966 and is buried at All Saints Braddock Catholic Cemetery, Brinton Road, Pittsburgh, Pa.
Bill's brother, Frank, died 2 Aug 2001. His remains were cremated.
At the age of 17, Bill joined the Merchant Marines, serving at intervals from 1946 through 1953. He and his brother traveled around the world together.
Bill was married four times; his two sons, Bill, Jr. and Gary, were from his first marriage.
The life experiences of Bill Verosko have been many and varied. For thirty-two years he owned a sheet metal contracting business in Long Beach, California. He owned and bred racing quarter-horses and thoroughbreds for twelve years. He was an ice dancer, and a dealer of antique weapons. He owned two Rolls Royces and a Ferrari, and he traveled the world, mingling with the rich and famous.
In 1993, after heart bypass surgery, Bill returned to Washington County, Pennsylvania and settled at Meadowlands. He continues to deal in Civil War artifacts, primarily rare images and Union Cases, and is an expert in the repair of the latter. He is extremely knowledgeable about the history of Spain, including Spanish gold and silver coinage.
