About lindapages.com

BAR

My first website was created in May 1997. Since then, the list of my sites, as well as the scope of my work, has grown tremendously.

By the end of 1997, I had created WVGenWeb sites for the counties of Pleasants, Calhoun and Marshall. Soon after, I volunteered to create sites for the Wheeling Area Genealogical Society (W.A.G.S.) and the Martins Ferry Area Historical Society. Most recently, I adopted the Ohio County WVGenWeb site that has been incorporated with the W.A.G.S. site.

At this time, I have well over HALF A MILLION files online - all FREE!

Each of the county sites has a SEARCH ENGINE, a SURNAMES page - and MUCH more. The sites are very USER-FRIENDLY.

In addition to the West Virginia county sites, I have created many others. The complete list is found at www.lindapages.com

If you will bookmark that list, you will have easy access to all of my sites.

Near the top of the lindapages.com page is a button to click on that goes to the list of my CIVIL WAR SITES. - I do sites for 4 complete West Virginia Regiments - 12th Infantry, 1st Infantry, 1st Cavalry, 5th Cavalry - and much more.

Many hours each day are required to maintain all of these sites. You will find an abundance of data and records, without ads or banners.

There was never a requirement to post all of this information but with the help of volunteers, there are now virtual libraries online for four West Virginia Counties - Ohio, Marshall, Calhoun & Pleasants - which include complete history books, hundreds of cemetery lists and countless vital records.

The information on my sites is FREE for use in compiling family histories. However, the files are NOT for people to download, or copy and paste, and then upload to another site, as if it was their own work. - It is not acceptable to download complete files, or significant portions, and then post them on the ancestry.com site, which charges a substantial membership fee to access. In August (2007) Ancestry.com cached and kept every file I have ever done, including the many thousands not stored on their Rootsweb server.

Finally, I live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, NOT West Virginia. - I was born in Wheeling and grew up on Boggs Run in Marshall County. I moved to Pittsburgh in early 1970 and have not lived in West Virginia since.

I promptly answer each and every email I receive. If you do not receive a reply, please write again because I may not have received your message. And please make sure my address is not blocked by SPAM FILTERS. Believe it or not, some filters block my email and name because of the "FLU."

Enjoy your visits to my sites and if you care to submit information, it will be greatly appreciated.
