Ohio County Will Book 2, Page 168 In the name of God Amen, I Joseph Campbell of the borough of Pittbg in the county of Allgany & state of Pennsylvania being verry weak in body, but of sound mind & understanding, thanks be to God for the same, but considering the uncertainty of this transitory life, do declare this to be my last will and testament, my immortal Soul I recommend to God who gave it, & body to be buried in a deceant & christian like manner; To Jane my eldest daughter, in consideration of what she has already received from me, I give and bequeath one dollar, To my Son Samuel & his heirs forever, I give & devise my farm containing two hundred and sixteen acres & allowance, being No 10 Alexanders district Butler county Pennsylvania, To Elisa my youngest daughter, I give & bequeath the residue of my personal property my debts & funeral expenses being first paid, And I do hereby appoint Andrew Scott of the sd borough of Pittsbg to be the sole executor of this my last will and testament; In witness whereof I have hereunto Signed my name the first day of April Anno Domini 1816 Joseph Campbell The within will & testament signed by the within named Joseph Campbell the within testator the same being first read to him in our presants he then approving thereof & being then of sound and disposing mind requesting us to attest the same James Verner John Yate C McFarland Allegheny County On the 25th January 1817 came before me the Register of Said County James Verner and C McFarland two of the subscribing witnesses to the within will, and were duly Sworn, deposeth and Saith, that they were personally presant [to] see Joseph Campbell the testator within named Sign Seal publish pronounce & declare the Same as & for his last will and testament, and that he was of sound mind & Memory at the time to the best of their knowledge, witness my hand the Same day and year Saml. Allegheny Count Ss Seal By the Tenor of these presants I Philip Gilland Esqr Register for the probate of Wills and granting letters of administration in & for the county of Allegheny ofsd in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Do make known unto all men that on the 25h day of January A.D. 1817 at Pittsburgh in the Said county, before Samuel Jones late Register, was proved approved and insinuated the last will & Testament of Joseph Campbell of Pittsburgh in the county of said decd a true Copy whereof to these presants annexed having whilst he lived at the time of his death, divers goods chattles rights and credits within the Said Commonwealth by reason whereof the approbation & insinuation of the last will & testament & the committing the Administration of all & Singular the goods chattles rights and credits, which were of the Said decd and also auditing the accounts calculations & earnings of the sd Administration & final dismission from the Same to me an manifestly known to belong, and that the administration of all & Singular the goods chattles & credits of the Said deceased any way concerning his last will & testament, was committed to Andrew Scott executor in the Said testament named, he having first been duly qualified well & truly to administer the goods chattles rights & credits of the said deceased, and make a true and perfect inventory thereof & exhibit the Same into the registers office at Pittsburgh on or before the 13h day of June next & to render a true & Just account calculation & reakoning of the said administration, on or before the 13h day of 1821 or when thereto legally required. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal of office at Pittsburgh the 12 day of May in the year of our Lord 1820 P Gilland Regr.
