To All to Whom these Presents shall Come, Greeting: Know We, That is in conformity with a land survey made on the 30th day of November, one thousand eight hundred and forty, by virtue of Land Office Treasury Warrant No. 12924 There is granted by the said Commonwealth unto David Lutes a certain Tract of Land containing thirty-four acres situated on Fish Creek waters founded as follows. Beginning at a dogwood & hickory comes to a survey of said Lutes. Thence with his line(?) N. 18 degrees E. 282 poles to a sugar tree corner to Hm's (?) thence with Hm S. 20. W. 309 poles to a small Chestnut tree + poles NE of a (rim, rin or rm ?) thence N. 40 is 46 poles to the beginning with its appurtenances. To have and to hold the said Tract or Parcel of Land with the appurtenances, to the said David Lutes and heirs forever. In witness whereof: The said John Rutherford Esquire, Leut. Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hath hereunto set his hand and caused the Lesser Seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond on the 30th day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty-one and of the Commonwealth the 65th.
