In 2007, the Marshall County Historical Society lost two more valued and beloved members. Ed Yoho died in May and his wife, Gail, died in June.

RUSSELL "EDDIE" YOHO

YOHO, Russell Edwin “Eddie,” 70, of Wayman’s Ridge Marshall County, W.Va., devoted husband and father, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007, in Wheeling Hospital Medical Park.

He was born June 13, 1936 on Fork Ridge, Marshall County, the son of the late Russell Forrest and Juna Faye Magers Yoho.

He graduated from Moundsville High School in 1955; and married Gail Cecil in 1956. They enjoyed many hobbies together including bowling, pulling ponies, and competing in truck pulls with his truck, “The Silver Streak.”

Eddie retired as president of Yoho Distributing, Inc.; was an agent for Ashland Petroleum; a charter member of the Moundsville Civitans, Loyal Order of Elks and a Kentucky Colonel. Most recently he enjoyed being a member of the Marshall County Historical Society.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Allen Yoho; an infant brother, William; and a brother, Alfred Elwood Yoho.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Gail Yoho; three children, Jill Yoho-White (Carl) of Glen Dale, W.Va., Paul (Tina) Yoho and Carl (Bridgett) Yoho, all of Moundsville; grandchildren, Michael and Kyle White and Allen, Emily, Ty and Carlee Yoho; a brother, Howard Eldon (Vala) Yoho of Tucker, Ga.; three sisters, Carolyn (Pat) Gaughan of Shadyside, Ohio, Lois Irene Glover of New Martinsville, W.Va., and Shirley (Donald) McWhorter of Goose Creek, S.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at Grisell Funeral Home and Crematory, 400 Jefferson Avenue, Moundsville, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Paul Smith officiating.

Interment in Limestone Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 162 Court Street, Charleston, WV 25302.

GAIL (CECIL) YOHO

YOHO, Gail V., 70, of Wayman’s Ridge, Marshall County, died Wednesday, June 27, 2007, in Reynolds Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 21, 1937 on Kansas Ridge, Marshall County, the only child of the late Riley Archie Cecil and Mildred Simms Cecil.

Gail graduated from Moundsville High School; and married Russell Eddie Yoho. Together they operated Yoho Distributing; enjoyed traveling; and spoiling their grandchildren,

Upon retirement Gail became active in the DAR Moundsville Chapter; and enjoyed her lifelong love of history by being a member of the Marshall County Historical Society.

In addition to her parents, Gail was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Eddie Yoho; and her son, Allen Yoho, who died in 1980.

She is survived by her three children, Jill (Carl) Yoho- White of Glen Dale, Paul (Tina) Yoho, Carl (Bridgett) Yoho, all of Moundsville; and six grandchildren, Michael and Kyle White, Allen and Emily Yoho, and Ty and Carlee Yoho.

Family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at Grisell Funeral Home and Crematory, 400 Jefferson Avenue, Moundsville, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Billy Ray Carpenter officiating.

Interment in Limestone Cemetery, Moundsville.

Richard Wotkowski, member and former treasurer of the Marshall County Historical Society, died January 15, 2006.

OBITUARY - Wotkowski, Richard J., 54, of Washington Lands, Moundsville, W.Va., formerly of Monessen, Pa., died Sunday, January 15, 2006 at home. - He was born September 28, 1951 in N. Charleroi, Pa., the son of the late Robert, Sr. and Anne Resetar Wotkowski. - He was a foreman with Consol Coal Co. at Bailey Mine and had been formerly employed with McElroy mine. He was a member of Praise Family Worship Center; former treasurer of the Marshall County Historical Society; a member of National Board of Directors of the Fostoria Society, Antique Motor Association and Paden City Glass Society; and was the owner of Audra’s Antiques in Center Market, Wheeling, W.Va. - Survivors include his wife, Pamela Seykoski Wotkowski; two daughters, Audra Wotkowski of Columbus, Ohio and Natally Wotkowski of Wheeling, W.Va.; two sons, Jordan Wotkowski and Lucas Wotkowski, both of New York; two brothers, Robert Wotkowski, Jr. of Silver Spring, Md., and Raymond (Melanie) Wotkowski of Sidman, Pa.; two sisters, Deanna (Tim) Orsega of Pittsburgh, and Charniaine Hall of Belle Vernon, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews. - Family will receive friends on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Avenue, Moundsville, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Michael Dunn officiating. - Inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family.


MAMIE LEGG

Mamie (Shaw) Legg, a long-time member of the Marshall County Historical Society, died Saturday, April 17, 2004 in Reynolds Memorial Hospital. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
