DEED BOOK MARSHALL CO., VA BOOK 1, PAGE 221-222 1836 This indenture made this nineteenth day of January one thousand eight hundred and thirty six by and between Benjamin McMechen and Nancy his wife of the first part and FREDERICA MISENHELTER widow of PHILIP MISENHELTER and JOHN F. MISENHELTER, HENRY MISENHELTER, CHRISTIAN MISENHELTER, JACOB MISENHELTER, SAMUEL MISENHELTER and MARY ANN MISENHELTER, children and heirs in law of PHILIP MISENHELTER all of Ohio County and state of Virginia, witnesseth, that for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars to him to him in hand paid or secured to be paid the said Benjamin McMechen and Nancy his wife had bargained and sold to PHILIP MISENHELTER, Decd in his lifetime, a tract of land on the north side of BOGG'S RUN and obligated themselves to convey the same at the receipt of the last payment, which was paid by his heirs before mentioned the land being parts of two tracts of land the said Benjamin McMechen purchased from Andrew Walker and John Quigley and bounds as follows. Beginning at a beech on the bank of BOGG'S RUN thence North 12 Degrees East 8 poles to two Red Oaks, thence North 30 Degrees East 201 poles to a Black Oak, thence South fifty two? west 75 poles to an Ironwood Beech and Red Oak, thence North 52? west 39 poles to a sugar tree, on the bank of a drain, thence South 70? west crossing a ridge 61 poles to a sugar tree in the head of a drain, thence south 75? west 22 poles double body'd poplar; thence down the drain with the meanders there of South 15 ? west 54 poles to a large poplar on the bank of the drain, thence down said drain with the meanders there of and bounding there on 100 poles to BOGG'S RUN thence up said Run with the meanders thereof and ending 101 poles to the beginnings containing one hundred acres be the same more or less to have and to hold the said described tract or parcel of land to the said widow and heirs of PHILIP MISENHELTER Decd their heirs and assigns forever, and the said Benjamin McMechen and Nancy his wife doth warrant and forever defend the said described tract or parcel of land with all the assurances there-unto belonging from themselves, their heirs and assignees , and all other persons from laying any just or legal claim to any part or parts thereof; In testimony whereof we have here-unto set our hands and seals the day and year written. List, justices of the peace in the county aforesaid in the state of Virginia do hereby Certify that Benjamin McMechen and Nancy McMechen his wife parties to a certain deed bearing date on the 19th day of January 1936 and here-unto annexed personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and acknowledged the same to be their act and deed and desired us to certify the said acknowledgment to the clerk of the county court of Marshall in order that the said deed duly be recorded.
