Larry O'Connell Called By Death
Prominent Moundsville Man Taken By Death After Short Illness
WAS GLASS WORKER

Larry O'Connell, aged 66, well known glass blower, died at his home at 214 Tomlinson avenue, Moundsville, last evening at 6:50 o'clock after an illness since Saturday of pneumonia.

Mr. O'Connell, who had been working at the Davis glass plant, Martins Ferry, since last June 4, came home Saturday feeling ill. He went to bed and grew gradually worse until the end came last evening. Twenty-five years ago, Mr. O'Connell moved to Moundsville from Martins Ferry and was employed at the Fostoria glass plant until last June. He was born in Ireland and came to this country at the age of seven with his parents, who settled in Wheeling. The family moved to Martins Ferry, where he remained until coming to Moundsville.

Mr. O'Connell is survived by his wife, Mary Palmer O'Connell; two sons, James and Lawrence; one daughter, Annetta, all of whom are at home; and one brother, James O'Connell of 605 Second street, Moundsville.

Mr. O'Connell was a member of St. Francis Xaviers Catholic church, Moundsville. He belonged to the glass workers union, the Eagles, the A. O. U. W. and the Holy Name society of the Catholic church.

Arrangements for the funeral have not been made.

On Tuesday, March 30, 1926, at the home of his son, John O'Connell, No. 1540 Marshall street, Benwood, Dennis Michael O'Connell in the 53rd year.

Funeral from the home of his son on Saturday, April 3, 1926 at 8:30 o'clock a.m. Services at St. John's church at 9 o'clock a.m. Interment in Greenlawn cemetary, Moundsville. Friends of the family invited.

Thomas William O'Connell

T. H. O'Connell Mass Friday

In St. James Church in McMechen, Friday morning at 10 o'clock, a High Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Thomas H. O'Connell, 57, veteran of the First World War and a resident of McMechen for many years, who died early Wednesday morning at Wheeling hospital, following an illness of two weeks' duration. Brief rites to be conducted at 9:15 o'clock in the Altmeyer Funeral Home will precede the mass. Interment will be made in Mount Calvary cemetery. Born in Martinsburg, W. Va., December 23, 1886, a son of Mrs. Mary E. O'Brien O'Connell and the late Dennis J. O'Connell, he spent his early life there coming to McMechen as a young man. Mr. O'Connell served as a member of the 314 Field Artillery in World War I. The family residence is situated at 20 Fifth st., McMechen. Surviving are his wife, Etta Cooper O'Connell, to whom he was married in St.James Church in McMechen on January 23, 1920; three daughters, Misses Ann and Rita O'Connell at home and Mrs. Jack McCombs of McMechen; his mother, Mrs. Mary E. O'Connell, of Moundsville; five sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Place, Mrs. Ella M. Russler and Mrs. J. P. Reilly, all of Moundsville, Mrs. J. P. Reidy, Long Island, N. Y., and Mrs. M. P. Garvey, of McMechen; and four brothers, Dennis J. O'Connell, of Philadelphia; John F. O'Connell, of McMechen; Leo O'Connell, of Moundsville and Carroll O'Connell, of Baltimore, Md.

O’DONNELL, Lillian Blanche Kennedy, 72, of Moundsville, W.Va., died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004 in Reynolds Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Brock, Pa. on August 15, 1931, daughter of the late Violet Kennedy Crow.

She was a Protestant by faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence O’Donnell in 1993; and a brother Otis Kennedy.

Surviving are three sisters, Ruth Orsco of College, N.Y., Letha Kisner and Mary Etta Kennedy, both of Moundsville; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Anderson Funeral Home, 1109 Second Street, Moundsville, W.Va. from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Interment in Rice Ridge, Marshall County, W.Va.

CUYAHOGA FALLS_____Charles W. Orum, 89, of 730 Hollywood ave., father of Beacon Journal mailroom employee, Wiley M., died Monday after six months’ illness.

Mr. Orum was born in Moundsville, W. Va. and had lived in the Akron area for 51 years. He was formerly employed as a carpenter with the international Harvester Co. He also had operated a grocery in Ellet.

Besides Wiley, he leaves another son, Charles K. of Akron, daughters, Mrs. Ward Bingner of Bedford, PA, Laura Orum and Mrs. Elizabeth Wright, both of Akron; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Carrie Cole of Wheeling, W.Va.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday on the Billow Akron Chapel with the Rev. James D. Moore officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Friends may call at the chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

Rites On Wednesday For Mrs. Rosa Orum

Mrs. Rosa Orum, 75, of 2183 Glenmound ave. died Sunday in General Hospital.

She was a native of Ohio and an Akron resident 45 years. Mrs. Orum and her husband Charles, who survives her celebrated their golden wedding anniversary June 14, 1949. They were married in Moundsville, W. Va.

Besides her husband Mrs. Orum leaves three daughters, Laura of Mogadare, Mrs. Ward Bingner of Bedford, Pa. and Mrs. Elizabeth Preston of Akron; two sons, Wiley and Kenneth of Akron; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Ora Robinson of Pennsylvania, and two half-sisters, Mrs. Niel Markusson of Akron and Mrs. Georgia Dowler of Wheeling, W.Va.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Billow Akron Chapel. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Friends may call at the chapel after 7 tonight.
