Marshall County, WV Will Book 2, Page 466 In the name of god, Amen, I, Philip Conkle of Sand Hill District, Marshall County, State of West Virginia, being of sound, disposing mind & memory & intending now to dispose of my worldly affairs as to me seems best, hereby revoking and annulling all former Wills by me at any time made & do hereby make ordain and constitute this my last will & testament, as follows; viz; after all my lawful debts are paid & discharged, the residue of my real & personal property, I give, devise & bequeath as follows. lst I give & bequeath unto my dear wife Bythenia Conkle all of my real property which consists in my homestead farm, in said above District, County & State, for her own use and benefit, to hold the same during her natural life & at her death it is to be sold by my Executor & disposed of as follows; He shall sell it to the best advantage as he so thinks. 2nd I give & bequeath unto my dear wife all of my person property to be hers forever. 3rd I give & bequeath unto David Daugherty One Thousand Dollars which my Executor will pay unto him from the first money that shall come into his hands after the sale of said homestead farm, no interest on the money. 4th I give & bequeath unto my neice Elizabeth Arnet Two Hundred Dollars, which my Executor will pay unto her as soon as he can, no interest on it. 5th I give & bequeath unto my sister Elizabeth Thornburg One Hundred Dollars, to be paid unto her by my executor as soon as he can. 6th I give & bequeath unto my brother John Conkle One Hundred Dollars, to be paid by my Executor, no interest on it. 7th I give & bequeath unto my brother Henry Conkle One Hundred Dollars, to be paid by my Executor as soon as he can, no interest on it. 8th I give & bequeath unto my brother Jacob Conkle One Hundred Dollars, to be paid by my Executor as soon as he can. -no interest on it. 9th I give & bequeath unto my brother Peter Conkle One Hundred Dollars, to be paid by my Executor as soon as he can. --no interest on it. 10th I give & bequeath unto Sarah Jane McCreary Fife Hundred Dollars to be paid unto her by my executor as soon as he can. -no interest on it. 11th I give & bequeath unto Philip Conkle McCreary One Hundred Dollars to be paid unto him by my executor, as soon as he can. -- no interest on it. 12th I give & bequeath unto Elizabeth Dinsmore’s Children, who was the wife of Thomas Dinsmore One Hundred Dollars each (3 in number) to be paid by my Executor as soon as he can, no interest on it. 13th I give & bequeath unto Ida M. Jewel, Three Hundred Dollars to be paid unto her by my Executor, if she is living, otherwise to be null and void, no interest on it. 14th I give & bequeath unto my niece Angeline Lutes, One Hundred dollars, which, which my Executor will pay unto her as soon as he can, no interest on it. 15th I give & bequeath unto Cordillia M. Tremble, Fifty Dollars to be paid unto her by my Executor, if she is living, otherwise to be null and void, no interest on it. 16th I give & bequeath unto George M. Merchant Two Hundred Dollars to be paid unto him by my executor, as soon as he can, no interest on it. 17th I give & bequeath unto Albert Daugherty One Hundred Dollars to be paid unto him by my executor, as soon as he can, no interest on it. 18th I give & bequeath unto Philip M. Conkle (son of Asbury Conkle) One Hundred Dollars to be paid unto him by my executor, no interest on it. I also give unto him my Eight day brass clock. 19th I give & bequeath unto the Presbyterian Church at Dallas, One Hundred dollars, which my Executor will pay as soon as he can. -no interest on it. 20th I give & bequeath unto little James Philip Conkle (a son of Gooding Downing) Two Hundred Dollars, which my Executor will pay unto him as soon as he can, no interest on it. 21st I request my executor to raise a marble monument over my remains, not to exceed Three Hundred dollars. I hereby constitute & appoint John G. Dinsmore to be the Executor of this my last will & testament. There was a hand written note on bequest 19 indicating that it was disallowed.
