Robert Covalt Will I, Robert Covalt, of the county of Marshall and state of Virginia, being of sound mind, and feble of body, and knowing the uncertainty of human life, do hereby make known my last will and testament in manner & form following, towit. 1st: I give and bequeath to my wife Sarah, the use of all the land I now possess, to be for her use during her natural life, or while she remains my widow. The land to be afterwards disposed of as I shall hereafter mention. 2nd: I give and bequeath to my son Joshua Covalt my saddle, rifle gun, and the colt I now possess. 3rd: I give and bequeath to my wife Sarah all the remainder of my personal property and charge her to pay all the debts that I owe at this time. 4th: I give and bequeath to my son Joshua Covalt at the death or marriage of his mother, the land on the west of Fish Creek, within the following boundaries beginning at a point where the turnpike crosses the drain which comes from the low gap field, then up the point towards James Reeds land, to the lower edge of a broad bench, then in a direction up the creek, witt said bench, to the land of sam Hoge, then with the lines of Isaac Hoge, so as to include all the land. West of Hoge's land, south of Caldwell's land and east of the land of Jacob Rizer and with line of William Covalts land to a white oak coruin (sp) on top of the creek hill, then east with his line to a coruin(sp) in a deep drain, just below a water fall, then in a direction up the creek so as to include all the land at present under fence, to the top of the hill which runs to the fork's of the creek,then with the line of the fence to the low gap field, then with the fence to the beginning point. 5th: I give and bequeath to my daughters Louisa and Hannah all my land not bequeathed to my son Joshua, and direct that at the death or marriage of their mother they shall come into full possession of it and further that at any time after my daughter Hannah becomes twenty one year of age, the land may sold or divided , subject however to their mothers right in it, if she should be living at the time. 6th: I hereby appoint my son Joshua Covault and my wife Sarah Covault my executors in this my last will and testament and direct them to settle up all my business and carry out the foregoing provisions of my will and I hereby revoke all former wills whatsoever. Wittness my hand and seal this fifth day of March eighteen hundred & sixty two.
