SISTER MARY ALOYSIUS SULLIVAN
(Born Honora Sullivan)

CIVIL WAR NURSE
Medical Dept., U. S. Volunteers, Wheeling, W. Va.

Sister Aloysius Sullivan (Honora Sullivan), daughter of Timothy and Ellen Sullivan, of Allegheny [Allegany] County, Maryland, was received June 13, 1859, and died May 19, 1867.

*This Carte de Visite image of Sister Sullivan was auctioned on eBay. Since it was signed by Sister M. de Chantal, the eBay seller assumed the image is she. However, the history of the Sisters of St. Joseph, presented online at http://www.cre8m.com/sofsj/ shows this same image and it is clearly Sister Aloysius Sullivan (shown in picture "g").

Why did Sister M. de Chantal sign the images if it is Sister Sullivan who died in 1867?

Or is there an error on the Sisters' anniversary site http://www.cre8m.com/sofsj/ that identifies the pictures as Sister Sullivan?

Also, the Brown & Higgins studio did not exist until after 1868 and before 1874 - after Sister Sullivan was dead.
