     Madeline Esther Stephan, 90, of Route 1, Williamstown, died at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 25, 2004.
     She was born Sept. 4, 1913, in Willow Island, Pleasants County, W.Va., to Noah and Gladys Mills Westbrook. She graduated from Williamstown High School with the class of 1931. In 1934, she graduated from Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse. Her career included private duty nursing in Parkersburg and she was the county nurse of Pleasants County. She was also a general duty nurse at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Marietta.
     On March 16, 1936, she married Floyd H. Stephan in Elizabeth. He died April 3, 1987.
     She was a devoted and loving mother of five children. She is survived by three sons, Dan Stephan Sr. and his wife Rita, Louis G. Stephan and his wife, Rita, and David F. Stephan and his wife, Patricia, all of Williamstown; two daughters, Suzanne Adkins and her husband, Stephen, of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Sharon Reagan and her husband, Charles, of Manhattan, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marie Pugh Cooper of Vienna.
     She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Lorna Hall, who died on March 19, 2004; and four brothers, Carl, Howard, Rolla and Gordon Westbrook.
     Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Hadley Funeral Homes Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike St., with Charles Pugh III and Pastor Steven Mahaffey officiating. Burial is in East Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
