Eleanor Mae Dawson Brennen, 95, resident of Wheeling, WV, died Friday, November 28, 2014 at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home.

She was born on August 11, 1919 in Wheeling, daughter of the late John Arthur and Elizabeth Blake Dawson.

She was a Registered Nurse, a First Lieutenant Nurse in the U.S. Army, and a retired Industrial Nurse for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Yorkville, OH. She graduated from the Wheeling Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of the Ladies Hibernians, Ohio American Legion, Catholic Daughters, the Ruby Red Dollies, and the Civic League of Warwood.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Brennan; brothers, Clyde Dawson and Art (Gerry) Dawson; an infant brother; brother-in-law, Paul B. Miller; niece, Paula Stamguts; nephews, Tim Dawson, and Danny Dawson.

Eleanor is survived by her sister, Betty Miller; sister-in-law, Ruth Dawson; nephews, Greg Miller, Gary (Sandy) Miller, E.J. (Linda) Miller, Mark (Laura) Dawson, David (Pauline) Dawson, Ron Dawson, and Ray Stamguts; nieces, Sandee (Bruce) Wilson, Beverly and Linda Dawson, Pam (Pat) Kincke, Susie (Jimmy Don) Windham, and Debby (Joe) Celestino; several great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Good Shepherd Nursing Home for taking such good care of Eleanor.

Friends will be received Monday, December 1, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV 26003 (304-242-2311).

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with Father Dennis Schuelkens, Jr. as celebrant. Interment to follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Vigil service Monday, 3:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 640 Old Fairmont Pike, Wheeling, WV 26003, or to the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, 159 Edgington Lane, Wheeling, WV 26003.
