Denzil Howard Yergin

Denzil Howard Yergin, formerly of this place, died in Syracuse, N. Y., on February 10, 1920, aged 33 years, after an illness of about one week of pneumonia. The remains were brought here for burial in the St. Marys cemetery, Saturday afternoon. The funeral services were held immediately after arrival.

Mr. Yergin held a responsible position with the Jewel Tea Company of Syracuse, N. Y., where he had made his home for several years past. He was the son of Mr. Elmer Yergin of St. Marys.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs Gertrude Rowe Yergin, of Syracuse, N. Y., his father Elmer Yergin, of this place, five sisters, Mrs. Mabel Riggs, of Cleveland, O.; Mrs. Mary Dye, Mrs Josephine Hendrickson, Misses Edith and Doris Yergin, all of St. Marys; two brothers, Charles of Calcutta, and Larnine E., of St. Marys.

Denzil was a loving son, a beloved husband and brother, with a sweet smile and a helping hand to all. His vacancy can never be filled in our homes and our hearts are bleeding in deepest sorrow of the loss of our beloved one, hoping that our loss may be his gain in the great Beyond.

Louanna L. Yoho

Louanna L. Yoho, 76, of St. Marys died June 18, 2004, at the Carehaven of Pleasants Nursing Home in Belmont, W.Va.

She was born Feb. 27, 1928, in St. Marys, a daughter of Arthur M. and Gladys M. Wilson Smith. She was a member of the Dewey Avenue Church of Christ. She retired from the former Colin Anderson Center where she worked as a switchboard operator. She was an avid bowler and she belonged to the Manhattan Bowling League and the Buckeye Bowlers.

She is survived by her two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Maston of St. Marys and Nancy Sue Clark of Belmont and her husband, Garry J. Clark; and one son, Samuel M. Yoho III of Moon Township, Pa., and his wife Nancy Yoho; six grandchildren, Michael Clark of Princeton, W.Va., and his wife, Kristi M. Clark, Christy Clark of Belmont, Sharri Maston White of Huntington, W.Va., and her husband, Matthew White, Scott Maston of St. Marys, Amanda Yoho and Jeffrey Yoho, both of Moon Township; one brother, Norman D. Smith and his wife, Verna, of Las Vegas, Nev.; and one sister-in-law, Bettie Smith of St. Marys.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel M. Yoho Jr. and one brother, Alton M. Smith.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, with Evangelist Dan Kessinger officiating. Burial will be in the St. Marys IOOF Cemetery. Calling hours will be 6-9 p.m. Sunday and from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

DELMAS P. YOST

Yost, Delmas P., 42, of Rt. 2, Sistersville, died Thursday at his home. He was a truck driver and an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred W. Yost, a sister, Lola Cole. Surviving are his mother Ruth Bowers Yost Ferrell of Sistersville; seven brothers, Dale of Hopewell, VA., Fred, Roger and Gary all of Sistersville, Richard of Oklahoma City, OK., Otis and Ronald of Friendly; two sisters, Hazel Workman of St. Marys, and Patricia Swiger of Sheridan, AR., several nieces and nephews. Friends received from 9 a.m. Monday until time of services at 1 p.m. at Eckels-Myers Funeral Home, Sistersville. Interment in Willow Island Cemetery, St. Marys with military graveside services.

Betty J. Yost, 61, of Sistersville, W.Va., died May 21, 2006, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg.

Private graveside services will be at the Willow Island Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

FRED WILLIAM YOST

Yost, Fred William, 66, of 560 Klondike Ave., Sistersville, died Wednesday afternoon at Sistersville General Hospital. He was born at Waverly, WV, April 21 1908, a son of the late Jacob and Margaret Garrison Yost. He was a member of the Church of God and a retired oil field worker. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Bowers Yost, eight sons, Virgil of Hopewell, VA, Frederick, Otis, Roger and Gary, all of Sistersville, Richard of Barberton, OH, Ronald of Friendly and Delmas, of Arlington, VA., three daughters, Hazel Workman, of Prince George, VA., Lola Cole, of Wadsworth, OH., and Patricia Swiger, of Warren, AR., one brother, Noah, of Beavertown, OH., two sisters, Lula Thomas, of Newport, OH., and Mildred McGee, of St. Marys; and 34 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, December 1 at the Church of God with Rev. Namon Caldwell officiating. Burial was in Willow Island Cemetery with Eckels Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Obituary

Rosa Yost, Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Yost, died at her home in Ereka, W. Va., April 3, 1906, aged 17 years, 7 months and 29 days.

Death was due to consumption, from which she had been suffering since last fall.

Funeral services were held at the Willow Island Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Brooks, after which her remains were laid to rest in the Willow Island cemetery to await the coming of the Lord. She has been a member of the Baptist church for the past two years.

The deceased leaes a father, mother one sister, and four brothers to mourn their loss in which they have the sympathy of the entire neighborhood in their sad bereavement.

A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled;
Aplace is vacant in our home, Which never can be filled.
A Friend.

Geraldine Young

Geraldine R. Young, 95, of Waverly died Saturday, April 2, 2005, in the Marietta Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Junction City, Ohio, a daughter of the late Brady and Maude Rolston Meeks. Mrs. Young was Protestant by faith and was a former legal secretary in Cincinnati, Ohio.

She is survived by one daughter, Constance J. Longacre of Akron, Ohio; two grandchildren, Brian Longacre and Daniel Longacre and wife, Angie, all of Georgia; one great-grandson, Jacob Longacre of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Young; two sisters, Elizabeth Eyler and Imogene Satterfield; one granddaughter, Tara Ann Mamas Rish; and son-in-law, Michael Longacre.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Vaughan Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Kenneth B. Calebaugh officiating. Services will conclude with burial in the Willow Island Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy are requested to either the Waverly Volunteer Fire Department or the Waverly Presbyterian Church.

Richard L. Young

Richard L. "Dick" Young, 62, of Waverly, W.Va., passed away July 22, 2005, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 9, 1943, in Fayette County, Pa., a son of the late Gordon and June Marie Young. Dick was a teacher and a welding instructor at PRT Technical Center and West Virginia University at Parkersburg. He was owner of Young's Welding and Trailer Repair, a member of the Boilermakers' Union, a certified welding inspector and was also on the advisory board for PRT Tech Center. With his students, he designed and created many Christmas light displays for St. Mary's City, Marina and PRT. He was a member of the Wayside United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge 172 of Vienna, the American Legion and participated in the Ornish Heart-Healthy Lifestyle Program. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves.

Surviving is his wife of 19 years, Nicki Colvin Young of Waverly; his children, including David Young, Crystal Dobbs and her husband, Jim, and Zak Thomas and his wife, Emily; his grandchildren, Jared and Allie Young and Madeline and Amelia Dobbs; his mother-in-law, Marguerite Colvin; his sister-in-law, Vicki Frye and husband, Ron; his niece, Wendy Delano and husband, Bob; his nephew, Todd Frye and wife, Stephanie; and great-niece and nephew, Kaitlyn and Colvin Delano.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Walter Colvin Jr.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna, with the Rev. Mike Richards officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home. Private family interment will follow at a later date.

The family requests that memorial donations can be sent to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 1332 North Halsted Street, Suite 201, Chicago, IL 60622, in memory of Dick.

Agatha M. Youtzy, 94, of Carehaven of Pleasants, died Jan. 21, 2009, at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Harrisville IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville.
