WALTER S. CARPENTER GENEALOGY ROOM

Lifelong Pleasants County resident and historian, Walter S. Carpenter, was honored on May 26, 2001 at the dedication of the Walter S. Carpenter Genealogy Room at the Pleasants County Public Library.

Mr. Carpenter is the President of the Pleasants County Historical Society and has long been regarded as the leading authority on the county's history. As online researcher, Mike Bailey, once said, "There is a wealth of historical and genealogical information in Pleasants County - - and most of it is in Mr. Carpenter's head!"

The new genealogy room, previously a storage area, has been decorated with old pictures of local interest. It will be the repository for all things pertinent to genealogy and history in Pleasants County.
