JACOB2 MORRIS (WILLIAM1) was born 1815 in Monongalia County, Va./W.Va. He married CASSANDRA. Marriage Notes for JACOB MORRIS and CASSANDRA: There was a Jacob Morris, listed on the 1870 Monongalia ,W.Va sent to me by Ella May, whose cousin is a descendant of Jacob Morris. This Jacob Morris on the 1860 and 1870 census was born 1807-1810. This Jacob Morris was married to Mary Waters. Jacob Morris son of William and Elizabeth Morris (Morriss) was their youngest son according to William's Will found in the W.Va Estate Settlement Book. William and Elizabeth's children William, Samuel, Abraham, James, and Jacob are called William's (True Heirs.) It could be the age for Jacob is wrong on the 1860-1870 census. Some of his brothers were born 1807-1810, so I doubt Jacob would have been born during those years since he was the youngest child. I have calculated his birth date as 1815. Jacob's, son, Bazel, marriage record to Julie Shreves, says his father Jacob and mother Cass were from Tyler County, W.Va. However, I didn't find Jacob and Cass on the Tyler County Census for 1860 or 1870. William died in Monongalia County June 08, 1825. By 1850, I found none of my Morris family on the census for Monongalia County. The children of Jacob and Mary Morris listed on 1860 and 1870 Monongalia Census were Margaret Morris b. 1840, Presley b. 1845, Harriet D. b.1849, Ruth B. 1850 and James M.Morris b. 1852. Presley Morris married Elizabeth Harvey. Their children were Samuel, Ludisa, and Millisa. Missisa married a Hall. Son Samuel is the Ancestor or Ella May's cousin and Ludisa was the great grand mother of Marjorie Friend Jackson. Marjorie's parents were Ada Davis born 1902-1977 and James Friend born 1901-1963. Ada Davis's father was Schuyler Davis 1866-1925 and he married Ludisa Morris 1873-1935. Marjorie was born in Braxton County, W.Va. September 14,1999 It has been learned that the Jacob Morris who married Mary Waters(Watters) was son of James and Margaret Moore Morris and not the son of William Morris. Williams son Jacob married Cassandra and was younger than this other Jacob Morris. I would have deleted all of this, but future researchers may find this helpful information. Child of JACOB MORRIS and CASSANDRA is: i. BAZEL3 MORRIS, b. 1832, Tyler County, W.Va; m. JULIA SHREVES. Generation No. 3 5. NANCY3 MORRIS (SAMUEL2, WILLIAM1) was born 1830 in Monongalia County, Va./W.Va, and died in Tyler County, W.Va. She married CHARLES WILLIAMS Abt. 1851 in Tyler County, W.Va. He was born 1827, and died in Tyler County, W.Va. Notes for CHARLES WILLIAMS: Charles Williams, appears in an Article written in the Tyler County, W.Va newspaper, September 02, 1881. It states Prosecution Charles Williams testified on the night, of August 26, 1880 about 11:00pm.After, he and his family, were in bed somebody hallowed in front of his house. They wanted to know if they could stay overnight and Charles told them "No" Than he asked whether there be any other place to stay. Several men came and broke down his door and came in. His son John F.Williams, fired his revolver at them twice than fired one shot at them. The Rioters fired three shots at his son. He said there were ten of the rioters and they had masks of red calico on their faces. Some rioters went into other rooms of his house and brought his daughter Sophronia into the room, in which his wife, son and residue or rioters and himself were and several of the rioters took hold of him, dragged him out of his house and that one of them, Isaac M. Edgell ( one of the defendants) struck him on the head twice. The rioters left the house at 12:00am. Isaac Edgell Lived between 1/4-1/2 mile from his house, where he had lived for 15 years. John F. Williams, testified to the same. He recognized Isaac Edgell, Albert Ice, John Lamp and William Heston, as four of the rioters. There were 9-15 of them known as the Red Men. Nancy Williams, wife of Charles Williams testified to substantially the same. She did not know what was done outside. She didn't recognize the one called Captain HI. He was large and tall man. Some of the rioters struck her on the head and also on side of her body. Some of them struck her daughter, Sophronia. August 26, 1880, Eli Davis testified on evening of August 26th that he was at a convention on Brush Run and saw the defendants. The convention held one and half miles from Williams. J.S. Riggs and Basil Morris accompanied the witness part of the way. They met four men on foot and disguised, to whom they spoke, but who made no reply, and went on in the direction of the neighborhood of Charles Williams and Isaac M. Edgell. Trial of the Red Men September 09, 1881. These men had notified Charles Williams that they were going to whip him in 2-3 weeks. The Riot took place about the time Hendrickson said it would. He was the Captain. Nancy Williams, daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Morris, and Mary Edgell wife of Isaac Edgell and daughter of Abraham and Nancy Morris were first cousins. Basil Morris was a brother of Nancy Morris Williams. More About CHARLES WILLIAMS and NANCY MORRIS: Marriage: Abt. 1851, Tyler County, W.Va Children of NANCY MORRIS and CHARLES WILLIAMS are: i. She was born March 30, 1914 in Pleasants County, W.Va, and died January 31, 1998 in St.Marys, W.Va Pleasants County, Buried at IOOF Cemetary Pleasants County.. Notes for DANEA LEE ROLLINS: In the Pleasants County, W.Va History Book, that came out in 1980, there is an article written by my Aunt Danea Rollins Morris for her daughter Gladys Stephenson titled "A Clothespin Doll". She wrote it accompanying a gift of a clothespin doll on December 25, 1966. This was Gladys's birthday. This is the story. I am just a clothespin, old and aged; I have hung for free and also for wages. I've ended up as an ugly girl. My story is old, quite antique, I've hung clothes from head to feet for forty years for young, aged and babies sweet. There were Grandma and Grandpa out on the farm, Ethel Gladys Weekley and William Preston Rollins Jr.of Ritchie County granny too(Kathryn Van Court and William Preston Rollins Sr.) plus aunts and uncles and cousins too. I started from that farm you see and came to town(St.Marys) and glory be more clothes than I ever expected to see. As a gift, that woman (Danea Lee Rollins) married James Wiley Morris 7-16-1935 made a slave out of me. Another grandma, grandpa (James Braxton Morris and Martha Jane Peters) and grandpap too (Austin Abraham Peters), aunts, uncles, cousins quite a few; friends, neighbors, and restaurants too. How much can a clothespin do? My life seemed over, but it was not to be there was my master (James Wiley Morris) My boss (Danea Lee Rollins Morris) and babies three; My life sparked up one One Christmas Morn, my boss gave birth to her first born (12- 25-37 Kathryn Gladys Morris). A baby girl so soft and sweet, more clothes to hang from head to feet. This story continues through the birth of son Larry, daughter Janet, and all the grand children as listed in the genealogy report. The Clothespin kept hanging clothes through out this time. The ending of this story now of the clothespin doll. Now I'm an ugly wee doll at best, but thank God for His words of peace and rest. Submitted by Gladys Stephenson. My Aunt Danea did hang lots of clothes and used a large wooden carriage bed (this had been a carriage my mother, Bessie Morris Hamilton, used when my sister, Danea (named after Aunt Danea) was born in 1945. It was big enough to carry my sister, my cousin Janet and myself. One day we allowed my brother Ed to get in the carriage also. Than my aunt Danea used it, all the rest of the years, to carry her laundry baskets, while she hung up clothes.
