Pleasants County, West Virginia - Will of William McTaggart Name of County: Pleasants Date of Will: July 30(?) 1862 Testator: WILLIAM McTAGGART Date of Probate: January, 1862 To Edward McTaggart the farm subject to condition of making a home for Jane McTaggart, and paying her one-third of profits from crops in cash, for her personal use. To Jane McTaggart, all household and kitchen furniture, to be divided at her death between Hugh, Edward, and Jane Henderson, children, and Margerate Jane and Alice Feeney one fourth each. To the Children of Hugh McTaggart, son, one thousand dollars with interest, to be devided equally, and to be paid by Edward McTaggart, at the end of five years, which sum is made a charge and to constitute a lien upon the farm devised to him. To the Children of Jane Henderson, daughter, the sum of one thousand dollars, to be paid, with interest after five years, by Edward McTaggart, and devided equally, which sum is made a charge and to constitute a lien upon the farm devised to him. To Jane and Alice Feeney, grandchildren, two hundred dollars each, to be paid at age 21. To Jane McTaggart the interest from all money invested, which is to be left on interest through her life. Shreves Date of Codicil, December 1, 1862 (1st) "My wife Jane having departed this life since the making of said Will, the third provision of said will is hereby revoked, and I hereby confirm unto my said Chldren the possession of my household property, each to hold the part set apart by me to them prior to my decease. (2nd) The Sum of two hundred dollars devised in said will to my two grand children, Margaret Jane and Alice Feeney, Each in the seventh clause of my said will, I hereby direct my Executor to invest in land for the benefit of said children, to be invested for them when they respectively arrive at the age of twenty years, or marry, should they marry before they arrive at age."
