Hardesty, 18--; page 571 IRAD GARRISON Irad Garrison, son of David and Catherine (Engel) Garrrison, deceased, was born Feb. 9, '44, in Monongalia county, W.Va., but moved to Tyler county in '60, and was living there when he enlisted, Aug. 16, '62, in Co. F, 14th W.Va. I.; he has a long battle list which includes Cloyd Mt., Lexington, Lynchburg, Winchester, etc., but he was never wounded; he was in hospital in '62 for two weeks, and in '63 at Cumberland, Md., for two months with typhoid fever. Each time he was given a ten day's pass, and each time reported back to the hospital at expiration of pass. In May and June, '65, he was one of ten men detailed to gurard railroad stations. He was honorably discharged June 27, '65, at Cumberland, Md. Mr. Garrison married, Oct., 17, '67, in Tyler county, W.Va., Sarah E. Ash, who was born in that county March 23, '50. Their children are Isadore L., Martha J., Oliver R., Zoe L. and Maria E. The parents of Mrs. Garrison, Peter D. and Elizabeth (Baker) Ash, are both living. Two brothers served in W.Va. regiments, as did two brothers of Mr. Garrison. Peter Engle, grandfather of the subject of our sketch, was a Revolutionary soldier. Comrade Garrison was a charter member of Geo. Smith Post, No. 37, and school trustee; he owns a farm of over 100 acres, draws a pension, and may be addressed at Wick, Tyler county, W.Va.
