The Bighams were early settlers of the Marsh Creek Settlement in what is now Adams Co., PA. They have an old gravestone in the Upper Marsh Creek Presbyterian Cemetery with the family coat-of-arms cut thereon. They were Scots from the North of Ireland, and they came to America in the early part of the eighteenth century. Besides James Snodgrass, the following people are buried in the Bigham Family plot: Margaret Bigham, d. 13 Oct 1739, age 70 years. Robert Bigham, d. 25 Nov 1798, age 88 years.
