FRANCES LOUISE AMBROSE GREGOR

Frances Louise Ambrose was born June 11, 1913 in McKees Rocks, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Her parents were William Ambrose and Anna Jutelis (per SS Application), both born in Lithuania.

In 1920, the family lived in McKees Rocks. By 1930, they had moved to Greene, Beaver County, where the father was a farmer; he was previously a railroad repairman. Frances' siblings were Elenore and Jennie.

In 1940, Frances was living at the Nurses' residence at St. Francis Hospital, working as an assistant head nurse.

During World War II, Frances L. Ambrose served two tours of duty with the U. S. Army Nurse Corps, between July 27, 1942 and March 2, 1946. At the time of her initial enlistment, she was residing at St. Francis Hospital. She was a First Liuetenant. In 1950, she applied for compensation based on her service. At that time, she was living at Georgetown, Beaver County, Pennsylvania.

Frances married Andrew J. Gregor of Pittsburgh. He was also an Army Veteran of WWII. He was born in 1910 and died in 1999.

Frances L. Ambrose Gregor died May 16, 1996 and is buried at Shadow Lawn Memory Garden, Newell, Hancock County, West Virginia. Her parents are also buried there.
