ANNA MARY "MILDRED" ANDERSON GOODE

Class of 1931

Anderson

Error in obit: Husband was Clarence E. Goode.
Her name in the Alumni records is "Mildred Anderson." (????)

Anna Mary, apparently aka "Mildred," Anderson was born in Cambria County, at which time her father was employed as a coal miner there. Her parents were Nils/Nels and Anna Anderson, both born in Sweden.

In the 1920 Federal Census of Patton, Cambria County, Nels and Anna had 3 children at home: Jennie [Jane], Gladys and Anne Mary.

By 1930, the parents were residents of North Negley Avenue, Pittsburgh. The father was 69, the mother, 62. Their daughter, Jane I. lived with them, but they also had a number of boarders at the home. Mildred was a student nurse and lived at the St. Francis Nurses' residence.

The father was hit by a truck and killed in 1932, age 71.

Anna Mary must have preferred the name "Mildred" and used that during her years as a student nurse. According to the obituary of Anna Mary Goode, she graduated in 1931.

In 1940, the mother, Anna, and sister, Jane, lived on South Graham Street, Pittsburgh, and operated a boarding house. "Mildred" was married to Clarence Edward Goode in Summit County, Ohio in 1936, and they lived on Howe Street in Pittsburgh. Clarence was a salesman in a retail store, and no occupation is listed for Anna M.
