MARY ANITA BENTZ BARTLETT

Mary A. Bentz, 22, and John J. Bartlett, 36, were married on October 12, 1926 in Wheeling, Ohio County, West Virginia. Mary stated that she had been born in Smithfield, Pennsylvania and was residing in Connellsville (Fayette County, Pa.). In fact, she had been born in Czechoslovakia. She became a Naturalized Citizen in 1932.

The Daily Courier (Connellsville, Pa.), Oct 12, 1935 (excerpt): [Mary's mother] "Mrs. Bentz remains seriously ill at her home near the schoolhouse. Her daughter, Mrs. Mary Bartlett of Cumberland, Md., who is a trained nurse, is with her."

Mary Anita Bentz Bartlett died at the age of 59.

HUSBAND'S OBITUARY: John J. Bartlett, 77, of Cumberland, Md., died in his home. - He was born at Dunbar, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Bartlett, and was a former Pennsylvania Railroad engineer, retiring in 1948. He was a World War I veteran. - Surviving are a daughter, two brothers, two sisters and three grandchildren. His wife, Mary A., died in 1964.
