Anne (also Anna) Ruthford Bishop, born in Pennsylvania in August 1890, was the daughter of Earnest J. Bishop, born in Germany, and Amelia Woelfel, residents of Johnstown, Cambria County. Amelia, the first wife of Earnest Bishop, was born in Pennsylvania and died in 1891. Anne's sisters were Hilda F. and Emma C.

According to the marriage notice posted in the nursing publication, Anna Ruthford Bishop married Emil Bowman on September 2, 1914. The name is misspelled and the husband was Emile Alfred Baumann.

In the 1900 Federal Census, "Emilie Bauman," born in September 1887 in New York, was the son of Alfred and Christina [Catherine Staebler] Bauman, found on 44th Street in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County. Emilie had a sister Elise and a brother, Henry.

The father, Alfred, died in 1903. In 1910, Catherine Baumann was living at the 44th Street address with her three children.

On his World War I Draft Registration Card, Emile Alfred Baumann, born September 23, 1887, was a clerk at H. K. Porter in Pittsburgh. He said he had a wife and a child.

In 1920, Emile Baumann was still living on 44th Street. In the home with him were his mother, Catherine, his sister, Elise, and his son, Alfred, age 4.

Sadly, his wife, Anne R. Bishop Baumann, the graduate of the St. Francis School of Nursing Class of 1914, had died at St. Francis Hospital on September 13, 1917. Her death was caused by septicemia and peritonitis, related to a self-induced abortion. She was buried at Allegheny Cemetery. The death information was provided by Elise Baumann.
