Mary "Louise" Bohey was born about 1931 at Cecil, Washington County, Pennsylvania. Her parents were Simmie Bohey, a coal miner, and Elizabeth McGary. The family is found in the 1940 Federal Census, and consists of the parents, Louise, and her older sister, Ruth.

Ruth Ellen Bohey, the only sibling of Louise, attended the school of nursing at St. Francis from 1944-1946. She participated in the US Cadet Nurse Corps, but left St. Francis in 1946 and married Robert Andrew Henning, a minister. This is stated in the news article about her marriage. She later worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse, and her death occurred on May 25, 1996. Another woman of the same name graduated in the St. Francis Class of 1964, according to the Alumni database, but has not been identified.

Following graduation in 1951, Louise Bohey married Velton Castrodale, also born in Cecil, Washington County, Pennsylvania. They moved to Greenfield, Indiana about 1960. Velton died suddenly in 1968, leaving Louise and three children.
