Edna Louise Brittingham was born December 1, 1908 in Virginia, the daughter of William Brittingham and Margaret Riley. William died, date unknown, and Margaret "Mamie" resided with her widowed father, Michael Riley, in Pittsburgh.

Brother, James Brittingham, died in 1936 and is buried at St. Mary's Cemetery, Lawrenceville, Pittsburgh. His name is on the marker of his maternal grandmother, Mary Riley, 1864-1915.

On May 10, 1939, Edna L. Brittingham, R.N., age 30, born in Virginia on December 1, 1908, married James E. Schilling, 39, a Truck Driver, born in Pittsburgh on October 15, 1899. He had divorced his first wife in January 1939.

At the time of the 1940 census, James and Edna were living in Blawknox Borough, Allegheny County, and his 12 year old daughter, Charlotte, was also listed.

Edna died in Clearwater, Pinellas County, Florida on January 8, 1971. She is buried there at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum. James E. Schilling died in April 1983.
