ANASTASIA CRONAUER McCULLOUGH

Class of 1924

Anastasia Cronauer and Rosanna C. Cronauer, both graduates of the Class of 1924, were sisters. In a news article about the graduates of the Class of 1924, they were listed as Anna E. and Rosanna C.

The family is found in the 1920 Census of Ashville, Cambria County, Pennsylvania. John Cronauer, 55, a coal miner, and his wife, Matilda (Hollis), 45, had three daughters, Matilda, 26, Anastasia, 17, and Rosanna, 13, and one son, Walter, age 3. A daughter, Alice Genevieve, born in 1914, died in 1917.

John D. Cronauer died in 1931; his wife, Matilda, died in 1957. The "son," Walter, died in 1980, at which time his obituary indicates he was the son of Amos and Matilda (Hollis) Yowler, but had been raised by John and Matilda (Hollis) Cronauer.

Cronauer

A family genealogy has Anastasia as Emma Anastasia Cronauer. It was probably Anastasia Emma, but in any case, she used the name Stasia.

Stasia married Sidney Ward McCullough, and they had a daughter, Patricia. On August 29, 1950, Patricia married H. Clare Glauser in Allegheny County.

On May 13, 1944, Stasia McCullough, wife of Sidney, died of Pulmonary Tuberculosis at the Mont Alto State Sanatorium at Quincy, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Her death record states her birthdate as November 13, 1903, and her parents as John Cronauer and Matilda Hollis.

Stasia is buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Wilkinsburg, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.

Sidney remarried. His death occurred June 1, 1970.
