Marjorie Jane Deffley was apparently briefly married to Anthony Misciagna in the 1950s, and had a daughter, Marianne, a 1973 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School, Altoona.

In 1975, Marjorie Misciagna received a service award for having worked at Altoona Hospital for 15 years.

OBITUARY: Marjorie Jane (Deffley) Misciagna, 90, Edmond, Okla., formerly of Altoona, passed away Oct. 30, 2013, in Oklahoma City, Okla., after a brief illness. - She was born in Altoona, daughter of Martin and Edith (Hart) Deffley. She married Anthony Misciagna in 1955; they later divorced. - Surviving are a daughter, Marianne Young (Richard Dean) of Edmond, Okla.; and two grandchildren: Richard Benjamin Young of Oklahoma City and Ann Lauren Young of New York, N.Y. - She was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Joseph Deffley. - Marjorie was a graduate of Altoona High School, Mount Aloysius Junior College and St. Francis School of Nursing (Pittsburgh). During WWII, she served in the U.S. Army Cadet Nurse Corps at Kennedy General Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. Subsequently she had a lifelong career as a nurse, on staff for 25 years at Altoona Hospital, primarily as a surgical nursing instructor in the School of Nursing. She devoted many years as a member of the Altoona Catholic Nurses. - Marjorie was a longtime member of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Parish in Altoona and a member of St. Monica Parish in Edmond, Okla., for the last 14 years. She read avidly, traveled extensively and cherished and nurtured her family with enthusiasm and vigor. - A private service will be held in Oklahoma with private interment in Altoona. - Local arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home.
