While a student nurse at St. Francis, Catherine Marie Devlin participated in the U. S., World War II Cadet Nursing Corps. On her membership card, she indicated she was born on July 10, 1927. Her address was 46th Street, Pittsburgh.

Catherine's parents were Francis M. and Catherine M. Devlin. In the 1940 Federal Census, Catherine's siblings were Francis J., Helen D., and Joan E.

In January, 1952, Catherine married Guido "Guy" J. Berasi.

OBITUARY: Catherine (Cass) M. Berasi, 91, of Meadville, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, at Wesbury United Methodist Community. Catherine was born in Pittsburgh, on July 10, 1927, a daughter of the late Francis and Catherine (Schiffhauer) Devlin.

On Dec. 29, 1951 Catherine married Guido "Guy" Berasi at St. Mary Church in Pittsburgh; he survives. She was a member of St. Brigid's parish.

Catherine was a graduate of the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh where she earned her Registered Nurses Degree and participated in the US WWII Cadet Nursing Corps. Catherine met her husband, Guy, while they were both working at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Butler. She and Guy raised their family and made their home in St. Marys, where she worked as an RN at Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital as well as several medical practices in the community. She was proud to have served as President of St. Marys Nurses' Study Club for two separate terms. She was also an RN with the VNA in Elk County. In 1990, she and Guy moved to Meadville to be closer to their daughters, son and granddaughter.

She was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan and looked forward to their games each season. She also enjoyed watching professional golf, especially her favorite golfer, Tiger Woods. In her earlier years she enjoyed dancing and sewing. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She was known for her determined spirit and ability to conquer any task put before her. She will be missed by her family, friends and the wonderful staff at Wesbury who cared for her with dedication and devotion.

In addition to her husband, Guy, of 66 years, Catherine is survived by three children Catherine Roth (Rob) and Deborah Berasi, both of Meadville; and Thomas Berasi (companion Martha) of Fairlawn, Ohio; a granddaughter, Michelle "Shelly" Spatafore (Tom) of Simpsonville, South Carolina; two great-grandsons, Thomas Anthony "Tommy" Spatafore (6), Joseph Guido "Joey" Spatafore (1); a sister, Joan Smithof Canonsburg; a sister-in-law, Lena Krulia, and brother-in-law, James "Sam" Berasi, both of Weedville; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by a brother, Francis Devlin; and a sister, Helen Jakiela.

Private services will be held at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St. Meadville, with Fr. Andrew Boyd, Parochial Vicar, officiating.
