AGNES DUDA MARNER of Shadyside on Friday, February 6, 2009, peacefully returned to God at age 83. Born in Donora, PA, the daughter of the late John and Julia Duda. Beloved wife of the late James Edward Marner. Loving mother of Karen, Betty Lou, Terry Fultz (Lyle), James (Gail) and Trisha Murphy (Michael). Cherished grandmother of Marie Marner, Trisha and Sarah Fultz, J.D., Christopher and Sean Marner, Marigrace and David Murphy and the late Kelly Fultz. Much-loved sister of Albert Duda of New Orleans and the late John, Michael, George, Frank, Helen Pierallini and Margaret Martin. Dearly loved and faithful friend of Most Reverend David A. Zubik. Also survived by many other close relatives and supportive friends. Agnes spent her life loving and caring for others.

She graduated in 1946 from St. Francis Nursing School, and under the loving direction of the Sisters of St. Francis, began a compassionate 48 year nursing career at St. Francis Hospital. She initially worked in the Emergency Room, moved into administration, and then eventually, humbly, assumed the role of Director of Nursing, retiring in 1994. In the course of her career, she obtained a bachelor's degree from LaRoche College. A devout Roman Catholic, she was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish for over 50 years. Friends received at McCABE BROS., INC. FUNERAL HOMES, 6214 Walnut Street, Shadyside on Thursday and Friday, 2-4 and 6-8 pm, where Funeral will commence on Saturday at 9 am, followed by Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church at 10 am presided by Bishop David A. Zubik. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in memory of Agnes Marner, to Sacred Heart Parish, 310 Shady Avenue, Pgh., PA 15206.
