JULIA ANN FINLEY STRICHERZ

Julia Ann Finley was born on February 2, 1924 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Her parents were James E. Finley and (Anna) Marie Fry, both born in Pennsylvania.

At the time of the 1940 Federal Census of McKeesport, Allegheny County, James E. and Anna M. Finley lived on Ross Street with their three children, James D., 18, Julia Ann, 15, and Thomas F., 11. Also in the home were Mrs. Finley's parents, James D. and Annie E. Fry. Mr. Finley did clerical work at the Steel Works.

Julia Ann Finley participated in the U. S. World War II Cadet Nursing Corps when she was a student nurse at St. Francis Hospital.

The father, James E. Finley, died in July 1953.

Her mother, Marie, died in November 1970.

MOTHER'S OBITUARY: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Nov 19, 1970 -- Marie Finley, age 77, on Tuesday, November 17, 1970, of McKeesport; mother of James D., Thomas F. and Mrs. Julanne (as spelled) Stricherz, sister of Mrs. Emily Pirl and Mrs. Margaret Cook; also survived by ten grandchildren.......Interment new St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Julia married Henry Stricherz and they lived in Bisbee, Arizona, where he was employed as a copper miner. They had a son, James Nicholas. In 1976, they moved to Koeltztown, Missouri.

Henry Joseph Stricherz, born January 16, 1913, died on September 28, 1996. He is buried at Saint Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Koeltztown, Osage County, Missouri.

OBITUARY: Julia Ann Stricherz, 94, Koeltztown, died Friday, February 16, 2018, at her residence. She was born in McKeesport, PA on February 2nd, 1924, and received her RN in 1944 from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA.

She worked in hospitals in and around McKeesport until she moved to Milwaukee in 1950. She worked for a short time as a Public Health Nurse and at St. Joseph Hospital until she married Henry Stricherz in 1960 in Wauwatosa, WI. They moved to Bisbee, AZ and lived there until 1976, when they moved to Argyle, and then Koeltztown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Stricherz; her father and mother, James E. and Marie (Fry) Finley of McKeesport, PA; one brother and sister-in-law, James D. and Lois Finley of Monroeville, PA; her father and mother-in-law, John and Theresa (Ruhr) Stricherz of Kranzburg, SD; and one nephew, David Finley of Monroeville, PA.

She is survived by one son, James Stricherz of Tallahassee, FL; one brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Florence (Krien) Finley of Two Rivers, WI; eight nephews and nieces, Timothy and Ellen Finley, Hoover, AL; Thomas and Connie Finley of Decatur, AL; Terrance Finley of Birmingham, AL; Patricia (Finley) and David Grenell of Galena, OH; Kathleen (Finley) Lemberger of Two Rivers, WI; Mary (Finley) Lauten of Spring Grove, IL; Rebecca (Finley) and Matthew Fleming of Brookfield, WI; Cindy (Finley) and Ralph Kortyna of Monroeville, PA.

She volunteered her time with the Samaritan Center of Jefferson City, and was well involved in the parish life at Saint Boniface Catholic Church in Koeltztown.
