MARY JACQUELYN FLESHER EBINGER

Mary Jacquelyn Flesher was the oldest of the three Flesher sisters who graduated from the school of nursing at St. Francis Hospital. Their parents were the late John J. and Margaret (Burns) Flesher, formerly of Brownsville, near Uniontown, Pennsylvania.

The husband of Mary Jacquelyn Flesher was Frederick O. Ebinger, mentioned in the marriage announcement of her sister, Rita Margaret.

Following her death on January 1, 1993, The Mary Jacquelyn Ebinger Breast Cancer Research Endowment Fund was established at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Research Institute at Ohio State University. It was established April 8, 1994 by the Board of Trustees of Ohio State, with gifts to the University Development Fund from Frederick O. Ebinger, Norma Jean Flesher, family, and friends. Norma was the long-time nurse of Dr. James for whom the cancer hospital is named.

Margaret B. Flesher, age 95, of Upper Arlington, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 27, 2008 at her residence. She was born January 18, 1913 in Corning, OH, daughter of the late John B. and Margaret (Herbst) Burns. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband John J. Flesher, 1971, daughter Mary Jacquelyn Ebinger, 1993, 4 brothers and 3 sisters. She was an elementary education teacher in Western Pennsylvania and with Columbus Public Schools, retiring with over 15 years of service. Margaret is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Norma Jean Flesher, Upper Arlington, Rita and Vern Draxler, Elk River, MN and Fred Ebinger, Mansfield, OH; 6 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. She received her Bachelor and Master degrees from California State University in California, PA. She was a member of St. Timothy Parish. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, where prayer service will be held 3:45 p.m. Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 1088 Thomas Lane, with Monsignor John Johnson, Celebrant. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Timothy Catholic Church Capital Campaign, Columbus, OH 43220 or to Arthur G.
