MARJORIE FORKER GOEDDEL

Class of 1921

Marjorie Forker was born in Northern Ireland to John Forker and Anne Ward.

In the 1920 Federal Census, Marjorie, age 31, was listed as an apprentice nurse at St. Francis Hospital.

On September 17, 1926, Miss Marjorie Forker, Nurse, filed a "Declaration of Intention" to become a Naturalized citizen. She stated she was 42, was 5' 9" tall, weighed 160 pounds, and had brown eyes and brown hair. She said she was born in County Donegal, Ireland on February 14, 1884 and currently lived at Post Street, Pittsburgh. She said she arrived in New York in 1907.

About 1927, not long after declaring her intention to become a Naturalized Citizen, Marjorie Forker married William A. Goeddel, a widower. His first wife had died in 1925.

In 1930, William A. Goeddel, 47, was an Independent Realtor and owned his home on Jancey Street, Pittsburgh. The record indicates that his wife, Marjorie, 42, was age 39 at the time of her marriage. - Her age is inconsistent in the records.

William A. Goeddel died on May 17, 1939. According to his will, he left a $20,600 estate to his widow.

Forker

From a list of Registered Nurses in Pennsylvania, 1940-1941, published by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nurse Examiners: "Marjorie K. Goeddel (nee Forker), 5157 Woodworth St., Pittsburgh."

Marjorie Goeddel died July 25, 1957 at the Angelus Nursing Home on South Millvale Avenue, Pittsburgh. The birthdate on her death record - February 5, 1888 - conflicts with the "Declaration of Intention" document. She was probably born in 1884 and was about 72 when she died. She and her husband are buried at Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
