Anna B. Decker, 98, of Scottdale, passed away Saturday morning, Feb. 14, 2009, in Jo-Ella's Personal Care Home, East Huntingdon Township.

Anna was born March 1, 1910, in Owensdale, Upper Tyrone Township, a daughter of the late Martin and Lillian Prucy Gabriszak.

She was married to William E. Decker, who passed away in 1942.

Anna was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was a registered nurse, working for 20 years at the former Connellsville State General Hospital. She graduated from Scottdale High School with the Class of 1929, and St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh [Note: She graduated from St. Francis in 1929.].

Anna was a faithful member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Everson and a former member of the Pennsylvania Nurses Association. She also enjoyed her membership and activities with the Everson Senior Citizens and Greater Scottdale Senior Citizens.

Anna will be sadly missed by her devoted family; her son, James B. Decker and wife, Diane, of Vonore, Tenn.; her five grandchildren, William E. Decker Jr. and wife Margo, Debra LaPlante and husband Robert, Michael J. Decker and wife Diane, James B. Decker Jr. and Robert Decker; her six great-grandchildren; her six great-great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Ann Decker, of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, William E. Decker, in 2001; and four sisters, Pearl Moniak, Frances Brown, Dorothy Ridenour and Mary Kasuba.

Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale (724-887-5300 / www.fergusonfunerals.com). Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel, where transfer prayers will be recited at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Funeral Mass will follow at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Everson, with Father John Sedlak as celebrant. Graveside committal service and interment will be in the church cemetery. A vigil service will be held at 3:15 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel.
