Nancy Lannon Boggs, 73, of Salisbury, N.C., passed away at her home peacefully surrounded by her family after a five-week courageous battle with cancer Monday, Dec. 28, 2009. Born May 18, 1936, in Walkertown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John M. Gombala and Emma Koscho. Nancy was a graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing, Pittsburgh, then raised a loving family. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Boggs, and first husband, Dr. Gene Lannon. She is survived by her children, Terence Lannon and his wife, Diana, Robert Lannon and his wife, Kim, Kathleen Bittner and her husband, Rich, David Lannon and his wife, Whitney, Alan Lannon and his wife, Denise, John Lannon and his wife, Jill, Sharon Senn and her husband, Rick, Michael Boggs Jr., Anthony Boggs and Roy Boggs and his wife, Charlie Ray. She is also survived by her wonderful brother, John Gombala and his wife, Gloria, and 21 grandchildren.

GENE LANNON, DENTIST, DIES

Youngwood -- Dr. Gene J. Lannon, a dentist in this Westmoreland County community, died yesterday in Latrobe Area Hospital.

Dr. Lannon, who also resided here, was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and its School of Dentistry.

He was a member of the national and county dental associations and also belonged to the Odontological Society of Western Pennsylvania; the Academy of General Practitioners; the Board of Governors of the Pitt Golden Panthers and the New Stanton Kiwanis Club. He was a past president of the Laurel Golden Panthers.

Dr. Lannon also was a member of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church here and had served as a dental officer in the U. S. Air Force.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy, his mother, Mrs. Marie V. Lannon; five sons, Terry, Robert, David, Allan and John; two daughters, Cathleen and Sharon, all at home; three brothers, James and Joseph, both of Denver, Colo., and Edward of Longview, Wash., and a sister, Mrs. Grace Yacko, a resident here.

Friends will be received from noon to 9 pm today at the C. Richard McCauley Funeral Home here.

Mass will be at 10am tomorrow at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church.

Burial will be in Westmoreland County Memorial Park.

GOMBALA, EMMA, 89, of Holiday, formerly of Palm Harbor, died Sunday (Aug. 22, 2004) at Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital in Tarpon Springs. She was born in Webster, Pa., and came here recently from Palm Harbor where she lived since 1978. She was a seamstress for Millers Women's Fashions. She was a member of the Highland Lakes Women's Golf Association and United Mine Workers of America. She was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Survivors include a son, John, Lilburn, Ga.; a daughter, Nancy Lannon Boggs, Holiday; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Curlew Hills Funeral Home, Palm Harbor.
