At the time of the 1920 Census, Anna was a student nurse at St. Francis Hospital.

Anna Gounder, Nurse, 26, born in Pennsylvania, is listed in the census of Buffalo, Erie County, New York in 1925. She is also named in the City Directory there in 1927.

In 1940, Ann L. Gounder, 34, was a nurse for Dr. F. H. Jones in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio. She is also listed in Columbus City Directories in the 1930s and early 1940s.

It is known that some of Anna/Ann's siblings moved to Columbus, as well. The obituary of Anna's brother, Harry W. Gounder, states Anna's name as "Ann McLelan" of Columbus. He died in 1960.
