Elta was married to Lawrence Grove and they divorced. A news article, dated February 10, 1928, pertains to the amount alimony and child support she would receive.

At the time of the 1930 Census, Elta M. Grove, a 29 year old 'widow,' was a student at the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing. Her parents, James H. and Abbie (spelled Robinette), were still in East Liverpool, Ohio. In the home was James Grove, Grandson, age 7, presumably the son of Elta and her late husband.

An article in the East Liverpool Review, dated August 8, 1950, states: "Mrs. Elta Grove of Ravenna, Pa. [Should this be Ohio?], is spending two weeks with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James L. Grove, of Midland Heights."

Another article in the East Liverpool Review, dated May 4, 1951, states: "Mr. and Mrs. James Grove of Midland Heights have concluded a visit with Mrs. Elta Grove of Ravenna."

Elta died on June 25, 1961.
