MARGARET JUBACH NEWELL

Class of 1923

A list of the graduates of the Class of 1923, published in the Pittsburgh Daily Post, indicates that Margaret Jubach was from Butler, Pennsylvania.

George Jubach and his wife, Catherina Fitch, lived in Butler County, Pennsylvania, at least for a time. Their children were Anna, Elizabeth, John, Michael, George, Catherine, Helen, Margaret and Peter.

At the time of the 1920 census, Margaret Jubach, 20, was a student nurse at St. Francis Hospital. According to the record, she was born in Pennsylvania, and her parents were born in Germany.

Some of the siblings moved to Ohio. Her sister, Helen Jubach, was living in Wilkinsburg when she married Dr. J. W. Stephens, Jr. in 1928. The parents' names are not stated in the marriage announcement.

Margaret married George Fay Newell, who served as a 2nd Lieutenant during World War I. George was from Wilkinsburg.

When George Fay Newell applied for Veteran Compensation in 1934, he and wife, Margaret Jubach Newell, lived in Lakewood, Ohio with their children, George and Joan.

The World War II Draft Registration Card for George Fay Newell, dated 1942, indicates that they lived in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and his wife was Margaret Mary Newell.

George F. (Fay) Newell, born December 15, 1894, died March 30, 1947 at Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Margaret, born on February 8, 1898, died on October 19, 1967. They are buried at Homewood Cemetery, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
