Agnes Louise Dusa was born on April 19, 1917, the daughter of Steve Kayden and Frances Rolka. She married Dan Dusa on November 6, 1948. Her death occurred on June 12, 2003.

OBITUARY: FORMERLY OF VANPORT - Agnes Dusa, 86, formerly of Vanport, died Thursday, June 12, 2003, in Friendship Ridge, Brighton Township. - Born April 19, 1917, to Frances and Stephan Kayden in Emeigh, Pa., she graduated from Cherry Tree High School, Cherry Tree, Pa., and St. Francis School of Nursing, Pittsburgh. On Dec. 1, 1941, she enlisted in the Army Nurses Corps as a registered nurse. She served as a First Lieutenant in the First Evacuation Hospital, Papua, New Guinea, from March 1942 until July 1944. She received numerous awards for her service, among them were the American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and Distinguished Medal of Honor. - She married Dan Dusa of Aliquippa and settled in Beaver, where she worked as the Assistant Director of Nursing at the Beaver County Home and Hospital, Beaver, for seven years. She was a Girl Scout leader in the Beaver-Butler District and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Alumnae Association of St. Francis School of Nursing, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. She belonged to SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Beaver. - She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan. - Surviving are her daughters, Dr. Joan Dusa, Glendale, Calif., and Elaine Decker and son-in-law, Thomas Decker, New Brighton; a son, Michael Dusa, Long Beach, Calif.; a granddaughter, Lauren Decker, Charlottesville, Va.; a sister, Regina Jenkins, Boca Raton, Fla., and three nieces and three nephews. - Friends will be received today, June 15, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the WAYNE N. TATALOVICH FUNERAL HOME, 2205 McMinn St., Aliquippa, www.tatalovichfuneralhome.com, where a service will be conducted Monday, June 16, at 10 a.m. with Father Jim Bachner officiating. - Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hopewell Township. - The Beaver County Special Unit will conduct full military honors in the cemetery at 10:30 a.m.
