CATHERINE ELIZABETH KERNER

Class of 1917

Born in March 1886, Catherine Elizabeth Kerner was the daughter of John and Catherine Kerner, both born in Germany. Children listed in the 1900 Federal Census of Pittsburgh were John F., Catherine and Christopher.

In the 1909 Pittsburgh City Directory, John F. Kerner - either the father or the son - was a patternmaker, residing at 6229 Station Street.

In the 1930 Pittsburgh City Directory, Catherine E. Kerner was listed as Superintendant of the University of Pittsburgh Dispensary. She was a resident of 6229 Station Street, Pittsburgh.

At the time of the 1940 Federal Census, Catherine E. Kerner, 45, was residing at 6229 Station Street, and she was working as a Special Duty nurse. She owned her home and had lodgers living there.

In the 1955 & 1958 Pittsburgh City Directories, Catherine was listed as a nurse, still residing on Station Street.

Catherine died on April 13, 1973.
