THE MONUMENT
The
monument was erected by the Triadelphia town council and the
Triadelphia Volunteer Fire Department.
It has a two-fold purpose - one commemorating the founding of the town which was founded in 1829 and the other in honor of the
boys who left Triadelphia for the World war.
It
is located in the east end of the town, opposite the town hall, on Route 40.
The
base is 18 by 20 feet. The three arches
that are placed on the base are made from cobble stones. In the center arch is the bronze tablet with
the names of all the boys who left for the World war. The arch on the left has the marble tablet
with the year 1829 carved on it, and also the names of
the founders of the town. The arch on
the right has a the marble slab with the year 1934
carved on it and the names of the present council carved on it. On the base and directly in front of the
three arches are the machine guns and trench mortars that were
used in the World war. The center
arch is made from a collection of cobble stones from
every state in the

in front of the monument is a 30-foot flag pole.

on the bronze tablet are the following names of World war veterans from
Triadelphia:

GEO. A. ARMSTRONG.
