PRESSLY (PRESLEY) DRAIN, Company "G"

     Pressly Drain served the Union during the Civil War in the 12th Regiment (W)Va. Infantry Volunteers Co. G, organized in 1862. He was a farmer, known for his outstanding sense of humor. His death was attributed to anasarca.

     Pressly was born in 1841 in Harrison County, (W)Va., to Emeline Drain. Pressly died 4 Mar 1922 in Peora, Harrison County, W.Va. and is buried in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Wyatt, Harrison Co., W.Va.

     He married 18 Mar 1866, in Doddridge County, W.Va., (Louisa) Jane (Carroll) Cumberledge, daughter of Elizabeth "Betty" Carroll. (Louisa) Jane had previously been married to Peter Cumberledge. She was born abt. 26 Mar 1841 in Wetzel County, (W)Va., and died 8 Aug 1923, Shinnston, Harrison County, W.Va. She, too, is buried in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Wyatt, Harrison County, W.Va., according to courthouse records although her dates have not been imprinted on her tombstone.
